Chapter 165 - Under the Umbrella

Before they went on a date, Tsubaki had personally called Matsuzaki to ask about whether Ren had urgent matters waiting for him in the company. Of course, the special assistant knew which answer he should give. Even though he knew his lady-boss had earnestly asked him, how could he answer her truthfully? It'd mean a death blow from his boss later!

Well, since the only thing waiting for his Master was only a pile of documents instead of meetings, he had forsaken his conscience and lied to his Master's wife.

Thus, the pair of husband and wife were walking in a park with an umbrella in Ren's left hand. His right hand firmly held his wife's. The rain had finally stopped but the sky was still dark. Not many people were around them, probably seeking comfort in their own homes.

"Ah~ I really love this weather," Tsubaki sighed in bliss as she looked at the sky.

Droplets of rain fell on Earth from the glistening tree leaves and flower petals. The fresh, earthy smell that came out after the rain and the misty feeling around them were what Tsubaki loved the most. It was so peaceful.

"It'd always amuse me whenever you say you love the rainy weather," Ren replied as they slowly walked on the cobbled pathway. He pulled her to his right side, skipping a puddle. Their faces reflected on the clear puddle. "Most people would find it gloomy, but you love it?"

"Don't you find it magical?" Tsubaki laughed as she pulled her hand from his. She ran a few steps ahead of him before she twirled around as her face radiated when she laughed. "The air is fresh. The leaves and petals are gleaming with drops of rain. Most people won't be outside at this time. It's like this is a world of our own."

Ren paused his steps. As he laid his eyes on her bright face, he unconsciously smiled so fondly to her.

"You're so cute, you know?" Ren said unhurriedly.

Tsubaki laughed again. She ran back to him, standing tip-toed as she raised her head and peck his chin. "I know that I'm cute~"

Ren joined her laugh. He opened the umbrella despite the rain had already stopped a few minutes ago. His other hand pulled Tsubaki closed to him by the waist. As he lowered the umbrella over them, he too lowered his lips to meet hers.

The rain fell once again. Droplets of rain slid from the umbrella as time passed. The two people were still hiding under the umbrella.

"You know, if you're always acting this way, it'd be hard for me to go to work," Ren said quietly over her lips.

Tsubaki giggled, she pecked his chin. "That's good. It'd be a good endurance test for you."

"Don't you pity me, my dear wife?" Ren slightly pouted his lips as he knitted his brows.

Seeing his usually cold face turned sulky, Tsubaki could no longer contain herself from laughing loudly. This man was becoming cuter day by day! How could she has just discover this?

"You said you want to earn a lot of money for me," replied Tsubaki as she crossed her arms. Tilting her head slightly, she added, "It's your fault for spoiling me. Now I want to have the best of the best of everything."

"Seems like my sweetheart has finally got a real taste of luxury," Ren smirked, one brow shot upward. "But, don't you forget all my shares and assets are in your name already? You're way wealthier than me, sweetheart."

Tsubaki gasped, she covered her mouth as she suddenly remembered the documents. "I've forgotten about that. Em~ Maybe I should leave you here and go to enjoy the life outside of this country?"

"What?" Ren stepped closer, as he leaned over her he pretended to threaten her with a crooked smile, "You wish to get away from me? No such way, love. You won't find any better man than me."

"I know." Tsubaki grabbed the lapels of his jacket, pulling him down to her height. Her lips met his. "You're the best husband for me. Ever."

As the couple laughed heartily, Ren felt the vibration of his phone inside his pocket. Ren glanced at the screen, it was Matsuzaki. He sighed inwardly before his finger tap the green icon.

"Master!" Matsuzaki's frantic voice coming through the phone.

"Yes."

"Hibiki has something to tell you. He has just returned from meeting Mr. Sagara."

Ren stiffened when he heard the name. He glanced at Tsubaki who was looking at him with a questioned look. He mildly shook his head, telling her nothing was wrong. To Matsuzaki who was waiting for his reply, he only spoke a short sentence.

"Wait for me at the office." His voice was heavy.

"Yes, Master!"

After slipping his phone inside the pocket, Ren looked apologetically to Tsubaki.

"I'm sorry, sweetheart. I need to go back to the company. Could we cut our date short?"

"Okay," Tsubaki readily agreed. "If you'd compensate me with another date?"

Ren chuckled. He nuzzled his nose against hers. "Just wait for my plan."

Tsubaki smiled. She had already satisfied with this short date under her favorite weather. Both of them turned around to go back to the car. Under the umbrella, Ren put his hand around her shoulders while Tsubaki leaned on his body while wrapping her arms around his waist.

The air was chilly but both of them felt the warmth. Even though what Matsuzaki had said bugged his mind, Ren still gave Tsubaki all of his attention.

"I'll come to pick you up later. But, if I'm late, Kaede or Hibiki would come for you," Ren said as he unfastened Tsubaki's seat belt.

"Okay. If you need to work till late, please call me first," Tsubaki smiled. She took the handbag from the backseat.

Ren nodded. "I'll try to come home as soon as possible, okay?"

Tsubaki sweetened her smile. She quickly pecked his cheeks before she jumped off the car. After she waved goodbye to him, she ran inside the bakery.

Ren looked at her disappearing figure. He tightened his grip on the steering wheel.
