Ren didn't ask anything as he silently comforting Tsubaki. Judging from her appearance, he knew something digusting had almost befell on her. His eyes darkened, fury was ignited and radiated from his entire body.
"Sorry..." Tsubaki slightly distanced herself from him after some time. Her eyes were puffy. Her cheek which was slapped by Kitaoji Masaru had swollen up.
"Let's go to the hospital? You're wounded." He coaxed gently, didn't want to startle her. He was still holding her close to him.
"No." Tsubaki shook her head, she looked terrified. "Can't I?"
She looked so helpless, as if her soul was still stuck at the place that had almost scarred her for life. He nodded, wrapping her tighter in his jacket. The temperature had dropped down, making the surrounding turned colder.
"Only if you let my private doctor come to examine you."
She nodded, compromising with him. Ren smiled in relief. He escorted her to his car. After making sure she was comfortable, he rounded the car and sat behind the wheels. They didn't exchange any words but he held on her hands firmly.
"This is your room." Ren opened a door and showed her in. "Take a shower first. I only have male clothes here. I could ask Hibiki to look for some female wear if you want."
"It's okay." Tsubaki tried to smile but it seemed forceful. In the end, she lowered her head.
"Take your time." Ren caressed her head. "Toshiro will arrive soon. Call me if you need anything."
"Okay."
Once he closed the door, fury blazed in his eyes. He dialed Akashi's number and returned to his own room. He didn't want Tsubaki to hear what he wanted to say.
"Hi! What's up?"
"Dig all the dirt on Kitaoji Masaru. And check tonight's CCTVs around Tsubaki's residence. I don't care how you'd do it but I want them by tomorrow."
"Whoa! Slow down, dude!" Akashi couldn't even breathe hearing his friend's menacing tone. "Isn't he the one who always harassed your wife? What happened? Do you want to finally make a move on him?"
"He almost raped my wife." He hung up. Akashi was left speechless with the gravity of the situation.
Ren threw his phone on top of the table. He sat on the bed, crouching with both of his hands clenching into tight fists. He almost couldn't control his rage. Thinking of what would happen if things went wrong, he swore he would kill the scumbag personally with his own hands.
He took a deep breath, calming himself down. He would send Kitaoji Masaru to the depth of hells when the right time came. But first, Tsubaki needed him.
Ren chose a set of black striped pajamas and brought them inside her room. He placed the pajamas on the bed. The sound of water hitting the floor could be heard from the bathroom, as well as the faint sound of her crying.
His heart wrenched hearing it. He wanted so badly to hug her right now, telling her that he was here. But he understood that Tsubaki didn't want him to see her in her moment of weakness. He silently retreated from her room.
When she was ready, he would help her bear them all.
Toshiro arrived shortly with his medical kit. Seeing Ren's stoic face, he sighed. "Akashi told me what happened."
Ren grunted. He led Toshiro upstairs.
"Why you didn't bring her to the hospital?"
"She didn't want to."
Toshiro shrugged. He was shocked when he suddenly received a call from Ren. He just asked him to come to Spring Garden as soon as possible with his medical kit. Ren didn't provide him any details but sensing the suppressed anger in his voice, Toshiro knew something serious had happened. He then contacted Akashi and got the story.
"Tsubaki." Ren knocked on the door, voice turned gentler earning a look from Toshiro. "The doctor is here. May we come in?"
Several minutes passed before she opened the door. Her eyes were still red but she looked better after a shower. His pajama was slightly bigger for her petite body. She needed to rolled up the sleeves and the pants for her to fit in them better. Tsubaki looked at Ren before turning to Toshiro. She opened the door wide without saying anything.
Toshiro didn't goof around as usual. He started examining the places that looked bruised or swollen. He almost broke in a cold sweat as Ren was watching his every movement like a hawk.
Dude, if you don't like seeing another man touching your wife, why don't your treat her yourself? Or call for a female doctor?
"Her wounds aren't serious. They would heal completely in a couple of days. But, I noticed there's a slight bump on her head. I suggest you take her for a scan tomorrow. It's better to be safe."
Toshiro tidied up his equipment while giving advice to Ren. He had bandaged the wounds as a precaution. There were cuts under her feet as she ran barefooted on the tarmac.
"Okay. Thanks."
After seeing Toshiro off, Ren went to the kitchen. He wrapped ice cubes with a towel and returned to her room. He gently pressed it against her swollen cheek.
"Your hair is still damp. Let me help you dry it."
Tsubaki nodded, didn't have energy to speak.
