It didn't take Ren long to arrive at the first manor of the Fuse Family.
Several expensive cars had already been parked in the large parking space for guests. He recognized some of the cars belonged to the shareholders.
"Master, you're back," Butler Yuuzo greeted Ren once he saw him enter the mansion.
"Is everyone here already?" Ren gave his car keys to the old man in a suit before walking towards the dining room.
"Yes. They have been waiting for you."
A servant opened the door for him. Seated at the long dining table were the faces he would recognize everywhere.
His grandmother, Old Madam Fuse was seated at the head of the table. The seat next to her right was vacant, waiting for Ren to occupy the spot.
"Ren, you're here," The old woman smiled once he saw his beloved grandson come inside.
"Forgive me for my tardiness, grandmother," Ren bowed his head to his grandmother before he pulled out the chair beside her.
"Don't worry, President Fuse. We've just arrived." The man beside him said.
Ren smiled. There was a trace of mockery in his eyes.
The man seated beside him was Sagara Tadao, one of the important shareholders of Fuse Corporation. The old fox has always known how to suck up to people.
"Yes, yes. President Fuse is a busy man. The profits for the entire company have grown exponentially for this quarter, even better than last year's. It's such an honor to dine with you," A chubby man chimed in.
"Mr. Fujita, you've flattered me," Ren just maintained his smile.
"Please forget about work, you three. We are here to enjoy dinner. Please, enjoy your meal." Old Madam Fuse couldn't help it anymore, she needed to interrupt before the men in front of her forgot to even eat.
They followed the old madam's order. They ate their dinner while occasionally chatting about work. The old madam didn't ask them to stop considering the topics they brought up weren't too heavy.
Ren's grandmother loved to host dinners for their important shareholders every once in a while for the sake of expressing her gratitude. He could just obey his grandmother's wish.
Once the desserts were served, Mr. Sagara brought up another topic.
"Right, President Fuse. The anniversary of Fuse Corporation is coming up in a few months. Will you introduce the First Lady of Fuse during the celebration?"
Ren didn't immediately answer the question. He quietly chewed his steak and swallowed it. Once he drank his wine, he glanced at Mr. Sagara. He narrowed his grey eyes, his thin lips forming a smile.
"What does the First Lady of Fuse have anything to do with the upcoming celebration?" He raised one of his brows.
"Well, you've taken over the position of the president of Fuse Corporation and the new head of the family for almost five years now. We have been waiting for so long to see our new mistress of the company," Mr. Fujita once again butted in after Mr. Sagara had finished speaking.
Clearly, they were on this together. Well, it wasn't a surprise. The two old foxes were so cunning.
"It's my private matter so I think it's wise if I don't discuss it with you. After all, it involves the family." Ren took a napkin and wiped the corner of his lips clean.
Mr. Sagara's mouth twitched. He looked at Old Madam Fuse.
"But, madam has surely been waiting for a granddaughter-in-law, am I right? President Fuse is already 32 years old. You should already hear the pitter-patter of your great-grandchildren's feet running around in this home."
Ren smirked. The old man knew how to keep the topic going by dragging his grandmother into it. Obviously, the mention of great-grandchildren stirred the old lady's heart.
"Mr. Sagara is right, Ren. You're not young anymore. If you're worried about the company, please don't be. I could see how hard you've worked for the sake of our company since you took over the position of president. Your old grandma just wants you to settle down with your beloved."
"Thank you for your consideration, grandmother. But I'll talk about this with you in private." Ren squeezed his grandmother's wrinkled hand.
Old Madam Fuse could just smile. She didn't want to pressure his grandson.
After her son died prematurely when Ren was still a young boy, she devoted all her affection to him.
Even though she wanted to see his grandson's children before she closed her eyes, she didn't have the heart to push it.
"Okay, we will talk later." Old Madam Fuse compromised.
Mr. Sagara and Mr. Fujita threw glances at each other secretly. Clearly, they didn't want to drop the subject but they have to be wise in making their moves.
Firstly, they wanted to take part when the young president chose his partner.
If they could persuade the old madam to accept one of their bride's suggestions, it would be easy to control Fuse Ren. Yet, the young man had clearly rejected their unspoken offer.
But, it was okay. They still had plenty of tricks up their sleeves.
"Oh, right." Ren placed his fork on the plate. "I heard something interesting about Z-Tech."
Mr. Sagara and Mr. Fujita flinched. They subconsciously looked at Ren. The mention of Z-Tech had drawn their attention away from the plans in their minds.
What did he know about Z-Tech? Did he already find something suspicious?
