Besides eating and resting, Julian spent his two whole days holed up inside the training room. Lady Kristine and Derry never visited him during this time, actually he never saw anyone but the cook who served him his food every morning and evening.
There's just one thing that's bothering him, and that he never felt tired even for a moment during his training. It just seems so hard when both of the girls tried to explain everything to him, but it's basically just like breathing air for him. Sure he was resting in between, however that's because Derry told him to.
_I guess resting is part of the training, I can already form my mana circle in a matter of seconds. It's really fortunate that no one came to see me, if they saw my mana circle, and gossip it outside, then my plans would instantly be foiled_
On the third day of his training, Julian finally saw Derry on the dining hall waiting for breakfast with a pale skin man accompanying her.
"Hey newbie, come here and join us." Derry finally saw him walking in and gestured the man beside him to give him the seat near him.
"Julian meet my brother Danny. He is a trainee dungeon seeker for our company."
"Nice to meet you." Julian extended his hand for a handshake and Danny did the same.
"Okay, don't mind him anymore. He is sort of a mute so ... Anyway, how is your training?"
"I can pretty much do my mana circle fully easily now. I'm not really complaining but you should at least visit me training right? A few minutes will suffice, I know you are busy too."
"Well, it's a taboo to see someone training their own mana circle if you are not their master or their parents. Well even if you permit me to see your training, I still don't want to do it because I'm obligated to let you see mine."
"Oh that's why. Then can you teach me now. I really don't know what to do first. I don't even know how to make a magic skill."
"Hmm, then let me tell you how I trained. You see, I'm a water type mage, so I'm better with water type skills like water blade and water deflector. I just keep releasing thin slices of water for my attack skill and just kept developing it while increasing the volume and speed. For my defense, I created a water shield that will deflect any attack skill downwards. When you create your skill, keep in mind your dominant magic element. You can control it better and you can conjure mana easier."
"I can gather up mana fast. That's why you trained me to create mana circles right?"
"Oh that. Oh no, you did that to see how fast you gather mana and train your body. Creating a skill has nothing to do with it."
"So it's basically a waste of time?"
"Of course not. You just don't see it yet, but doing that keeps your basic foundations about magic firm. Well, magic is about manipulating mana and turn it to magic elements. Just keep that in mind when you are making your skill. The simpler, the better, now that you are tight on time. Efficiency and adaptability are the key and evolution is the goal.Youn't have to make powerful magic skill for your first try."
"I have one more question, why do we need a master if we can create a magic skill? Do we really need them?"
"Well yes and no. Yes, because they will teach unique flow of magic patterns and you can benefit from their influence. You can see it when you go in the congregation. No, because if you really are a creative mage, and from a powerful family, then you can be stronger on your own."
"Okay, thank you. However, I'm still waiting for Lady Kristine to give me a totem to measure my load and shell."
"A totem?" Derry was silent for a while then he burst into laughter when she heard what Julian said. Even the quiet Danny on the side gave him mocking smile.
"Ahahaha nobles. Only nobles would think like that. You don't have to wait for that totem, not only does it cost you a lot, it's pretty hard to make now. I bet chief can only acquire after two weeks so you don't have a chance to use it. You need to be wise about this."
"Then that means I don't have a way to see what level I am in."
"Actually, there is another way you can test out your skill and know your level at the same time without using a measuring totem. Both of us use it all the time."
"Yeah, and what's that?"
"Dummy, go and create a skill first then will talk. Now, better fill your stomach before you go back training."
"Oh right before I forgot, chief wants you to have this." Derry handed some kind of folded beast skin to Julian. Julian never saw this kind of alphabet before but miraculously he understood everything.
"Better memorize it afterwards, these laws can either help you or cheat you with anything so better know it well. Damn nobles are so f*cking irritating with their laws but they are the ones who violate them many times."
