"Xinghe!" Xi Yuan exclaimed, pulling the woman into his embrace, her head resting against his chest. "Love, what's wrong? Where does it hurt?" His voice shook as he looked at her face worriedly.
It took her a moment—two minutes, perhaps—to realize she was safe in his arms, his warmth grounding her. Slowly, the haze lifted, and her eyes fluttered open.
