"WHAT?!..How?!..Can..can you repeat what you just said , doctor?" Yu Yan asked again in a trembling voice.
"Mrs Li please calm down." The doctor said sympathically and also a tad bit awkwardly.The doctor wanted to come under the good grace of the Li heir's new wife, but who knew such a bad luck would befall him.He really regretted volunteering to check up the young madam despite his very busy schedule.
"I have a list of the best adoption agencies here...if you want.." The doctor trailed off awkwardly pushing a pink pamphlet which he always kept in his office, beside and near the transparent film containing Yu Yan's health report.
Yu Yan eyes darted towards the pamphlet with devastation.
"Doctor..Doctor..please there must be something that we can do! Please there has got to be!"
Yu Yan said her voice choking up.Somehow she already knew there wasn't anything that could be done even though she had asked.
She wasn't that lucky to begin with.
"Mrs Li..I am really sorry.If you want I can refer you to another child birth clinic.Perhaps a better doctor.." The senior doctor said respectfully. He really hoped she would say yes at this point.He really did not want to involve himself in this problem.The Lis would not be happy in the least.
Yu Yan felt like the ground beneath her feet had suddenly disappeared.
She knew the hospital had arranged the best doctor in the gynaecology department for her when she had come in for a simple check up for her irregular periods.
Even the Director of the hospital had come in to greet her especially.
The doctor had offered and done all sorts of test on her for free .All they had to do was give her a supplement for her irregular period, that was all.
She only thought that they were making a big fuss over nothing.
How could she know that instead ,she would be told that her test report was very bad and that she could never give birth in this life...her womb was not fit to conceive a child.
"Why?" She asked even though it was useless.
"Mrs Li, in our test we found that your womb was badly damaged.Maybe due to an accident or certain chemicals, poisons in your system while you were young. We sometimes see this in heavily abused patients,perhaps..." The doctor trailed off. He did not want to assume that the Li heir's wife had a difficult childhood.
when Yu Yan did not respond the doctor continued.
"Due to this, every month you must have had extremely painful menstruation cramps.If you had seen a doctor earlier in your childhood,perhaps something could have been done. Madam Li , please don't be disheartened.Many women in this world have this same issue.You are not alone". The doctor comforted gently.
Yu Yan nodded slowly albeit blankly.She couldn't register his words into her brain.
There wasn't any use in crying over it now. She should have known that she was truly an unlucky girl since her birth. But..
" Don't tell my husband" Yu Yan said softly.
"Excuse me?" The doctor hadn't heard what she had just said. He felt a little uncomfortable seeing her sudden calmness. She wasn't taking this well.
"Please. Please don't tell my husband." Yu Yan repeated again meeting the doctor's startled eyes.
"Mrs Li, that is..." The doctor didn't know how to respond.
"I will tell him myself later and I will be responsible for it.I wouldnt make it hard for you or the hospital" Yu Yan promised.
The doctor nodded awkwardly. He couldn't exactly say no.
He could only pray that this didnt effect him in the future.
After all, this was regarding the Li's heir.
LATER IN THE EVENING AT THE HOSPITAL, LIU LIU'S ROOM.
"Sister Yu Yan?.."
Vaguely Yu Yan heard her name being called.
"Huh? What" She called back dreamily. She put down the apple she had planned to cut for Liu Liu.
"What's wrong? I have been calling you for so long, is everything okay?. You look really tired too" Liu Liu said sitting up in his bed.
" Nothing like that at all. It's just, something happened at work..thats all" Yu Yan responded bravely with a smile.
"Is that also why you cried?" Liu Liu pointed at her red swollen eyes with his one good arm.
Yu Yan nervously touched her face and tried to deny it.
"I can see that your eyes are red and swollen sis. Is it something very bad?" Liu Liu asked concerned.He remembered that his sister Yu Yan never cried before unless it was something big.Even when his dad had threatened and scolded her, she had only showed red eyes without any tears. The last time he saw her cry was during his mother's funeral.That had been a bad day.
"Yeah..." Yu Yan smiled bitterly. "I got fired at work". Yu Yan supplied a ready excuse.
" Oh no... But why suddenly?... Is it?.. is it because of me?" He hoped not.
"Hahaha.. Not at all. It has been a long time coming.You don't even have to worry about it.Your brother in law has enough money to support me and you in the future." She smiled proudly.
"Oh. Then why are you so sad?"
A pause.
"My boss scolded me badly" She pouted and smiled,showing a spoilt expression to the boy.
Liu Liu laughed at her. "sis is so silly"
"You are more silly" Yu Yan argued.
"I don't think so" Liu Liu shook his head gently and smiled.
"you little... I will tickle you in your broken rib" Yu Yan stood up and walked towards him with her hands in front .
"No, No...Sis no it hurts" Liu Liu cried.
"Hahhaha now I told you not to be disobedient" She continued to tease the little boy.
"Why are you so mean to me?!" Liu Liu cried as Yu Yan got mockingly ready to tickle the boy.
"Oh ho? What fun things are going on here?" Li Jun said laughing from the door.
"Brother in law, you are here! Help me!" Liu Liu Screamed even though Yu Yan had not even tickled him yet.
"Of course!" Li Jun said happily and immediately held down Yu Yan in a back-bear hug.
"Run away lil Liu Liu, run.." Li Jun laughed and said in a disgustingly dramatic way.
Liu Liu looked at him awkwardly. He was hooked to iv drips and with broken bones.How was he supposed to run?.
Li Jun continued to hug his wife's body. It's been a long day.
Yu Yan stiffened instead of laughing like she would have done usually.
Li Jun suspiciously looked down towards her face but she was looking down at the floor.
"Wife? What's wrong?" Li Jun asked suspiciously, trying to turn her towards him.
"No..nothing. You shocked me that's all." She laughed nervously. " I.. I gotta go to the bathroom real quick" Yu Yan dashed towards the bathroom.
"Is she mad because I made you help me?" Liu asked confused.
"Yes" He answered distractedly watching his wife run off.
"I'm sorry ,I shouldn't have done that. She is in a bad mood to begin with". Liu Liu apologized because he was a well mannered boy.
Li Jun turned around to face the boy.
" Bad mood? why?"
"You didn't know? she got fired from her work place. Her eyes are swollen because she cried. Sister said that she was also badly scolded by her boss." Liu Liu explained.
A dark expression filled Li Jun immediately.
Li Jun clenched his fist tightly and went outside the room slamming the door behind him.
"They dare? they dare make her wife cry?" He wiped out his phone and made a call.
"Hello sir?" Secretary Tai answered the phone quickly. "I just arrived to my home..." he hoped the boss would'nt call him back to work.
"WHO IS YU YAN'S BOSS? HOW DARE THEY MAKE MY WIFE CRY?!" Li Jun yelled into the phone.
The other line was quiet for a while.
"Hmm. Sir, at the work place, you are the highest boss only below the chairman." Secretary Tai answered nervously.
"I MEAN IN HER DEPARTMENT , YOU SON OF A BI*CH! DO YOU WANT TO DIE TOO?" Li Jun shouted loudly in the guarded corridor , his voice reaching far.
secretary Tai gulped and answered quickly.
" Manager Lee. Manager Lee is in charge. She was also the one to put up the termination letter to the HR department".
Lu Jun calmed considerably, his target had a name.
"Manager Lee? Fire her ass immediately and make it so that she can't ever find work again and...."
"Stop it!"
Li Jun felt his phone being snatched away.
"Don't do that! Why would you try to fire the manager?" She did nothing wrong!" Yu Yan scolded Li Jun again. this man was getting crazier by the day. She quickly spoke into the phone - " Brother Tai, please cancel Li Jun's last order, I will speak to him first." She hung up after hearing secretary Tai's confirmation.
"She did not do anything wrong?" Li Jun was angry beyond words. " She made you cry. Now I am going to make her cry." Li Jun declared domineeringly.
"She did not make me cry...." But Yu Yan unexpectedly burst into tears. Why was he so good to her, fighting others for small and tiny things because of her.He made her fall in love with him more and more each day. He was really so mean.
"Yu Yan, honey! What happened?! What do I do?" Li Jun was dumbfounded. "I will get you your job back okay? Don't cry, don't cry..." Li Jun gentled his voice immediately.
Yu Yan shook her head.
"Just.." sob. "Hold me, Jun".
'Just hold me before I lose my sanity.Just hold me' Yu Yan begged.
Yu Yan cried for a long time that day. Her tears unable to ease the pain in her heart.

Dear Readers, my grandad also passed away. I lost three of my most favourite ppl since may, first my dad,then my grandma n then my grandad.It was devastating to say the least.I was and still am in a dark place but m still trying to smile n m still hopeful for the future. But I am sorry I broke my promise with you all. please forgive me. I will make it up of course.
