" I'll tell you everything that happened from when I was a child until now."
Taf finally broke his silence and looked at the girl sitting next to him. He didn't see the harm in disclosing the event with May having already discovered his identity.
Even though they were at each other's throats most times, the truth is; apart from Old man Ming, she was the closest person to him.
They had often talked about the different books they read and their thoughts of life outside the city. The more he remembered those conversations, the clearer the reason for her reaction now. 'I guess I wasn't being as fair to her as I possibly could have been.'
May perked up a bit and looked in his eyes with curiosity written all over her face. It was then that Taf began his tale; the story unfolded from his time making a living stealing from the gangs and running for his poor life. To be followed by the ultimate defeat of the Bing gang.
Although he was willing to tell her most things, Taf conveniently left out specific details of Old Man Ming. It wasn't that he didn't trust her, simply put, sometimes it was best to keep some secrets.
After all, Old Man Ming was an essential part of his life and although the risk would be minimal by disclosing him. It didn't matter, as once there was a slight risk, he would never take it.
While listening to his tale, May's face went through various changes. She would at times laugh at his antics and then be struck by awe at his decisiveness. Taf then revealed how he had learned to fight from a mysterious stranger four years prior; this he disclosed the turning point on his journey.
There was no need to talk about the rest, as the rumours throughout the city would have covered these things. After finishing his tales, a pair of brown eyes looked at him with a little smile on her face.
" Was that so hard?" May asked while they sat on the bench, glancing at the animals frolicking about.
Hmmm!
With a teasing look, Taf inquired, "so have you fallen for me?" The once calm May was struck off guard and couldn't find the words, "I know some can be drawn to me like a moth to a flame. What can I say? It's my magnetism with the ladies."
"Are you saying I'll get burnt?"A counter was uttered as she regained her wit at the last moment and stared daggers back at him.
"Not at all. My flames would only provide warmth if you were to allow it." May's smile blossomed once more as Taf uttered those words but was soon withdrawn with the following words he spoke,
"The waiting line is long, though, but seeing that I've known you the longest. I'll see if I can put you further ahead. After all, some princesses can only have thoughts of chasing me."
Taf laughed as he stared at May, who stood up in a huff,
"Is that so? I guess I'll have to leave my mark on you then, huh."
May had an evil grin on her face. She eyed Taf as though he was a helpless prey while moving closer. He had a dread overcome him as he saw the grin on her face. From his past experiences, he knew something terrible was about to happen, and usually, it was to him.
" What.., are you planning to do?" Taf stuttered as he eyed the beauty before him, who seemed to have cornered prey.
A grin was seen growing on her as she replied while watching Taf move further away from her on the bench, "Others might not know your ultimate weakness, sir Mouse, but this lady knows."
"You.., wouldn't? You promised me, remember." The words took time to come out as he prepared himself to dash away at any moment.
"I vaguely remember a deal being made when we were ten, but If I remember correctly, my fingers were crossed at that time," May smirked as she spoke, seeing Taf sneakily backing away.
"So this is the face the Mouse makes when he is fearful. Oh, how I've missed this." She moved closer as she had foreseen his plans of running at the moment,
"You dare to tease me like that. Now the question is, how far in line am I, Mr so-called Charmer?"
Taf sprinted off, but before entirely escaping May's grasp, he was flung to the lush green grass. Soon he felt two hands to his side under his shirt.
He tried to fight it but could only start laughing uncontrollably as her hands rubbed against his skin, " May...haha, you better..hehe, stop.."
Laughter was heard throughout the park as one girl chased a boy, who ran in fear, and every time he was caught, burst out in laughter. Soon they could be seen sitting on the grass. May had a big smile on her face as she knew she had been victorious.
"I wonder how warped the features on the faces of your enemies would be at this very moment; if they saw your current state." May teased as Taf looked at her in fury and slight fear. She could not help but laugh as Taf fumed on the ground,
"You promised you wouldn't do that again."
May could not help but laugh as he fumed on the ground. "In this city, there is one that you still have not defeated, Mr big bad mouse."
On the ground, Taf couldn't help but smile after hearing her words. He looked at May, who sat beside him grinning while she spoke of her victory. He had to admit this was the happiest he had been in a while. Moments such as these were rare, and he could separate himself from his alter-ego, Sir Mouse.
"I wonder why Mr Charmer is looking at me with a smile plastered all over his face?" She poked him in his sides before uttering those words.
"Just thinking there is no one else, I would rather know that weakness of mine other than you. I mean, your slightest touch does make my seemingly cold body warm." Taf couldn't help but say while thinking aloud before holding her warm, soft hands.
"Hmm, sweet-talking won't get you out of trouble the next time you tease me, you rascal."
As the two spoke outside of Marvel City, a gigantic hawk could be seen majestically soaring through the sky.
"So this is the city filled with mortals. The one they call Marvel City."
