Chapter 116 - 2nd Round - Top 32

After another hour, the other three arenas finally finished fighting it out for the final eight positions. The top 32 participants have now been finalized.

"We have our 32 finalists." Aarav looked around at the finalist. They had gathered in arena 1. "This afternoon we will start the second round of the tournament. From here on out it will be single elimination."

"We will now commence round two. In Arena 1 we will have Arena 2's finalist, Pedro fight against Arena's 1's finalist, Hui."

Hui was a human who stayed lowkey all match. He only used a dagger technique at the last moment to take out the last person to secure the final 8th position. Even in the college, he chooses to train alone, and not much of the school knows his real skill. The only instructor that has worked with him is Clash. Clash only show him a few feline techniques.

Aarav announced the other three matches with one of the un-named beastmen in arena 2. Arena 3 and 4 didn't really have any outstanding person.

Hearing Pedro's name, Leo headed over to arena 1. Misera didn't stop him. With the matches going to single elimination, they didn't need two judges. By the time Leo arrived, Pedro and Hui walked into the arena. Pedro looked up and saw Leo.

"Pedro, this guy seems more like an assassin similar to Shadow. You will need to stop his agility from winning this match." Leo sent with a mana message.

Pedro shot him a thumbs up and moved to the center of the match. Hui was wearing black leather armor and brandishing a dagger in both hands. Shui decided to stay in Arena 1 as the judge. She then announced for the match to begin.

Hui activated Shadow Step to get behind Pedro. For a boy just in Tempered body, his speed was quick enough to get the jump on Pedro. Pedro spun around to attack the boy before he slashed him only not to see him at all.

Hui jumped into the air over Pedro and landed behind him. Striking with both blades, Pedro was slashed in the back. The cuts were only skin deep, so it wasn't fatal. Pedro spun around to see his enemy already disappeared.

Leo watching the fight looked down at Sprite. In times like these when he was a young warrior, he made up for his lack of skill with Sprite's detection ability. Pedro, on the other hand, will have to figure something out.

Pedro looked around and couldn't see the boy. Pedro took a deep breath and started to charge his Shock Touch.

Out of the corner of his eye, Hui attacked Pedro's open left-handed side with both daggers. Pedro couldn't react fast enough and was slash twice in the shoulder. The thing Hui wasn't expecting was Pedro charged his bock and Hui was paralyzed for a split second.

Pedro stepped forward with his right foot and drove the boomerang into Hui left shoulder.

"Ahh!" The boy leaped backward with the bladed projectile still sticking in his arm. With his wound, Hui's left arm went limp dropping his dagger. Hui didn't freak out. He sheathed his right knife and took out a kunai looking weapon.

Hui activated Shadow step and next thing Pedro knew several throwing knives were flying at him. He executed Broken Shadow to dodge them and to conserve his mana and strength.

Pedro knew Hui would try to fight him at long-distance until he let down his guard. The thing though was Pedro's boomerang gave off strong elemental changes of lightning, and Pedro could sense it. Hui started to circle Pedro after running out of throwing knives.

Pedro waited until Hui was almost in front of him and Pedro leaped towards the lightning mana. He punched out and landed one on Hui knocking him over. Pedro walked over and ripped out the boomerang and brought it to Hui's neck.

"I forfeit," Hui yelled out half out of breath and in immense pain from his shoulder wound. Just like that Pedro won the second round and moved onto the top 16.

The other three winners were the bear-beastman in arena 2, a mermanian archer in arena 3, and half-breed beastman of the feline and canine variant in arena 4.

Isabella ended up fighting in arena 2 against another support warrior. The mermanian mostly focused on healing and her combat ability was feeble. Isabella defeated her in mere seconds with her roots.

The other three were Mera in arena 1, Deus in arena 3, and the mermanian princess in arena 4. The other 8 contestants were the unnamed beastmen feline and canine variant from arena 1, Brick the beastman with the shield from Arena 2, a winged human from arena 3 with silver wings and a harp, Jeun Li the bowstaff warrior from arena 2, a twin-sword mermanian from arena 3 this was the princess' twin sister who didn't fight at all in the first round, the young draconian noble from arena 4, and finally the human from Storm Sect.

The draconian noble and Brick defeated the two elite warriors. The rest of the people from arena 2 were also knocked out. Most of the warriors from the college were upset to be defeated by these outsides, but Gladier decided to console them.

"Warriors of Unity College, don't let today's loss get you down. Let today be another lesson. The universe is a large place so never get complacent. Watch the final matches and learn from them."

After Gladier finished everyone cheered for such a humble and wise teacher. The students who lost finally cheered up.

Aarav announced that the tournament would continue tomorrow and the next two rounds would happen. The continuing participants needed to heal up and get their minds right.

After seeing the healers Pedro and Isabella found Leo waiting for them. They were sad they didn't get to see him fight, but Leo hugged them both as he was proud of their accomplishments. Shadow came over and congratulated them too.

Then Isabella asked Leo if she could train with him. Leo shot Pedro a look, and he told Leo he would train with Shadow if that alright. She of course accepted. Pedro was glad because the warrior today showed him that this tournament wouldn't be easy.

Outside Leo's house, Isabella was breathing hard. She wanted to test some tactics with Leo. He also came up with a few ideas that she didn't even think of at the moment. Leo and Isabella came up with a solid plan for her fight tomorrow.

Pedro came back home all scuffed up but smiling.

"You look like a punching bag," jested Leo.

"Maybe, Shadow taught me a new trick."

Seeing Pedro so happy, Isabella interrupted. "Well, Leo and I came up with a new trick for me too." She puffed out her chest proudly.

"I hope so. I heard you got an easy opponent today."

"What? I won fair and square."

"Haha, Alright you two. Get to bed."

"Fine.." they said in unison.

The three of them went to bed dream of their future victories, but tomorrow would have different plans for them.
