Chapter 76 - Choosing Sides

Mama Cocha walked Leo around the temple and the area. She told him about the rivers and oceans, which was her specialty. They talked about the different golems and how long they could live for.

The thing that surprised Leo the most was these new rock forms allowed even mortals to live hundreds of years longer.

"Mama Cocha, Supay's shadow mouse told me that the two places were divided among his disciples, but when Pachacamac returned you and others invaded Supay's land and took it from him."

Hearing this surprising question, Mama Cocha spotted a pond near them and motioned for Leo to head towards it. She on the bank of the pond and said, "Leo, please sit down."

Leo complied, and Mama Cocha reached out with her rocky fingers and touched the water. Ripples in the water spread out from her finger, and their reflections changed from the current golems to what they looked like before.

Leo's reflection showed him with his black hair in his Brahma robe. He still had his old eyes and arms.

Leo looked over to see Mama Cocha reflection and saw a beautiful woman looking at him. She had long brown hair parted in the middle. Her turquoise headband accented her sky-blue eyes. She wore a similar blue-green dress with a blue woven belt fastened around her waist. She didn't look a day over twenty-one.

Leo's reflection smiled at seeing her beauty. She smiled back. It had been a long time for her to have someone appreciate her beauty.

"The great master did divide his kingdom and realm between his disciples. While Pachacamac was hiding in this land, Inti and his followers were at war. Warriors from a faraway land attacked us. Our kingdom was almost defeated, but Inti, Mama Quilla, Catequil, Illapa, Urcaguary, and many more warriors fought the invaders. We lost many of our brothers and sisters."

"Who was the enemy force?"

"They said they were messengers and warriors of some Christian god. The Spaniards they called themselves. After fighting and almost losing, Pachacamac, Mama Pacha, and Piguerao joined the battle and tipped it in our favor. They saved us but paid a heavy price. Pachacamac disappeared, Mama Pacha lost her memory, and Piguerao was slain. We also lost many other warriors too."

Mama Cocha's reflection was on the verge of tears. Being a golem, she wasn't able to express her sadness about how the loss of so many affected her. Leo placed his hand on her shoulder. He knew how it felt to lose those close to you in battle.

"Thank you for your concern. A captured Spaniard cultivator warned us of the incoming doom. The reason they attacked was that of this oracles vision. They wanted to find our Ukhu Pacha Realm and escape to there. Inti didn't want to believe these foreigners, and we paid a heavy price. When mana vanished, we lost many believers and followers. Hundreds of mortals died."

"We then had to sacrifice many cultivators to an Apu to send us here. The majority of us here are here only because of the sacrifice they gave." Cocha paused. She looked down at her reflection with a sadness and longing. "When we arrived, Supay was not willing to concede his authority over this realm to Inti, his Uncle Master. He also believes we stole his Mistress memory and killed his Master and Brother."

Now that Leo got this side of the story, some things made sense. Soon Leo realized he is in the middle of a power struggle between Inti and Supay. Leo shook his head. How does he always get into these situations?

"Leo, I was just told, I have to take you back."

Leo nodded his head. "Alright please lead the way." Leo knew he could try to run, but Mama Cocha out powers him greatly and he hadn't grasped the elements in this place yet.

Leo followed her back to his cell. He entered the room and sat down.

"Thank you for listening to me, Leo. It was nice talking to you all day. His Excellency, Inti, wishes to discuss things with us all later. I hope to see you later."

Mama Cocha finished and left the cell and closed it.

Leo sat there and pondered on the two stories. They were both similar and made sense. He didn't want to side with either, but he knew he had to choose one to back. Finally concluding, Leo heard a knock on the door.

"Newcomer, please come with me to the main hall. His Excellency wishes to talk to you."

Leo followed the guard golems this time. He appreciated not being maltreated this time around. He entered the hall to see all six golems waiting for him.

"So, I've let you see the kingdom and talk to our Mama Cocha. You know we wish to return to our land."

"What do you need from me, your Excellency?"

"Your soul is still tethered to your body on earth. Using the artifact, I need you to lead us back home."

Thinking about it, Leo did still a connection to his body. At the moment it felt like it was light years away β€” kind of like looking at something through a fog.

"Leo, will you aid us?"

Leo stared at the golems before him. They were waiting for his answer. If he chose not to, then he might be forced to regardless. If he did decide to help, Inti might be after his body.

"I choose to..."
