Chapter 66 - Saving Sloths

A few months after the draconians were killed in Mexico City, a draconian, with a robotic right arm, was fighting a pack of jaguar beast. His green hide was bloodied from battle. His movements expressed how tired he was, but his eyes said he would never give up.

The cat beast had the draconian outnumbered one to eight. Behind the draconian was a family of sloth beast. This draconian's name is Jira. He walks the path of life like his master.

Jira called out, "nature lend me your strength so that I can protect these beasts." Slowly mana from the plants from the grass to trees flowed to Jira. The blade on Jira's metal arm started to glow red.

Two jaguar beasts attacked from both sides. Jira stabbed the one to the right and threw it into the other one. The two tumbled for a second then got back into formation with the other creatures.

Little did Jira know, but the most powerful beast, a Core Builder, was slowly creeping on the family of Sloths. This creature was the infamous Amazon Anaconda. This creature trained in the law of water and used that to layer itself with a camouflage coating.

The jaguars were rearing for their next attack. This time they decided to send more to attack. The leader of the group chose to sneak behind Jira for the final strike.

Three cats pounced at Jira. "Salamander's Fury!" Flames engulfed the draconian warrior, and the cats backed off.

The leader decided to claw through the flames and slashed Jira in the back. Blood that flew out burned up in the blaze. The leader jaguar's fur was severely burned. With a growl, the rest of the cats gave up their fear of the fire and attacked.

Each slash that landed gave the cats and Jira great pain. Jira's was losing this battle of attrition, and he knew it. The flames kept burning around him. He hated that he had to resort to his old martial arts to survive. Flames only bring death, and he was on the path of life now.

The jaguars stared down the burning man. They were furious this demon was keeping them from their well-deserved meal.

A painful screech was heard, and it came from the mother sloth up in the tree. Jira and the jaguars looked up to see a giant anaconda squeezing the life out of the mother sloth.

"Noooo..." Jira released the flames around him to conjure a blast. "Salamander's Flame." The blast tore through the branches towards the snake creature.

A jet stream of water was blasted out the snake's mouth. When the water and fire collided, steam covered the immediate area. The jaguars ignored Jira and ran up the tree. Once above the cover of branches and steam, the anaconda knocked each cat down with its tail.

Two of the jaguars took a hard hit and didn't stand back up. The leader of the jaguars made a noise to signal to attack again. The jaguars ran up the tree again.

Jira exhausted watched as the sloth mother was squeezed to death and the jaguars were defeated over and over. Jira had to save the two little ones. Using his fired to close all his wounds, Jira climbed the next tree over.

Looking over, he could see the two sloth children crying for their mother. That very mother was being squeezed right next to them. Waiting for the jaguar's next attack, Jira jumped into the tree with all the action. He grabbed the babies and tried to leap back to the other tree.

The snake was onto his schemes, and after knocking the cats away, the snake grabbed Jira. The scaly tail started to crush Jira holding the two sloth babies. Jira activated a distress signal on his robot-arm. "Master...please hurry."

"King's Roar!"

All the jaguar's ears perked up. This roar told them to bow down, their true king here. This affected their core and their instincts. The boom barely phased the snake. It stared through the tree to see a humanoid coming in his direction.

"Buffalo Cage. Tombstone." Leo turned the soil around the tree to stone and crushed it. This caused the large jungle tree to collapse with everything in it to fall also.

The tree fell with the snake with it. Crashing to the ground, the anaconda loosened its grasp on Jira and the dead sloth mother.

Jira rolled out of the snake's bindings and ran away. He looked back to see a hooded figure face off against the large snake beast. Low on mana and half dead Jira did not stay around. Carrying the babies, he ran back towards his home.

This man that showed up was none other than Leo. He had traveled south of Mexico City to find meaning to all the suffering he has dealt with. While traveling, he had fought many beasts trying to claim his life. He even fought a rouge group of draconians.

Through this process, Leo managed to break into the middle level of Mana Fighter. His understanding of earth and even metal grew by leaps and bounds. Using the elements to feel the ground and see for him, brought him a new perspective on his planet.

While walking, he felt a battle of life and death was happening up ahead. When he got there, he could smell the jaguars, sloths, the draconian, and the snake. His lion DNA enhanced his smell and even more so since he was blinded.

Figuring out the situation quickly, Leo separated the draconian and the snake. He also scared away the jaguars with his roar. Now all that was left was to fight a snake beast one level higher than himself.
