Chapter 42 - Raising a Mountain

Leo awoke the next morning with an awful headache. The memories of yesterday flooded his mind. When he touched the earth pillar, his mind teleported to the mountain landscape.

"No wonder everyone has such troubles with the pillars. Raising a mountain is no joke." He sighed and looked around at where he was.

A female came in and told him Goutheesh was waiting outside. Leo put on a white dhoti next to his bed. Then he walked out of the hut and saw the elder waiting on him.

"Good morning, Leo."

"Good morning. What happened yesterday, Elder?"

"You had a backlash yesterday in the trial, knocking you unconscious. While you were attempting your trial, Lucy and Aarav ascended to the 2nd domain."

Leo nodded his head. He knew both of his comrades were very talented. He clenched his fist. "I need to complete my trial, so I can catch up," Leo told himself.

The Elder knew this small set back wouldn't stop him. So, he handed Leo some breakfast to eat before he attempted the trial again. The two of them walked to the pillars. Even though it was early people and mermanians were lined up on the pillars.

Leo looked over to the fire pillar and saw the draconians in line for it. As he looked them, he felt no hatred towards them. They were stuck in the palace as much as he was.

Leo turned to face the earth pillar. After his performance yesterday, many new humans were attempting the earth pillar's trials today. Leo walked to the back of the line to wait. He decided to sit down and get his mind straight. Leo circulated his mana to prepare for this challenge that awaited him.

--------------------------------

"Oh ho...It looks like the boy has returned," Lankani said with a hint of surprise.

"I told you he was fierce," the woman figure responded.

"I wonder if he will pass today." The male figure starred at the boy in anticipation.

--------------------------------

When it was finally Leo's turn, he was sent back to the mountain landscape. This day he did not intend to watch how the mountains were made. He began right away gathering mana to raise the hill from the ground.

The strain on Leo knocked him out again, and he was flung from the pillar. Everyone stared at him with disbelief. Yesterday he performed the trial for an extended period of time, but today he was thrown off within minutes.

Goutheesh had people recover him and take him back to the shack. The next day Leo awoke the same outcome happened. This recurring event occurred for six days straight.

On the morning of the seventh day, Leo decided not to attempt the trial and train using Earth Control behind his shack.

On the eighth day, Leo awoke with a burning desire to accomplish his task. He put on his new clothes, ate some fruit, and headed to the trails.

"Oh look its the boy, Leo."

"Do you think he will pass today?"

"I bet he gets flung off quicker than he did two days ago."

Leo ignored all of the chatter and sat down at the back of the line. He started to focus on the task at hand.

--------------------------------

"Do you think he will pass today?" Lankani asked.

"I don't know," the male figure replied. "Today, I shall watch the boy's trial myself."

"If you do that, you will use up your soul force. You know once that is depleted you will cease to exist." The female figure tried to plead with him.

The male figure looked over at her with only love in his eyes. The two of them only existed to be together. He smiled from the bottom of his heart because he knew she cared deeply for him.

"This child might become my first disciple ever. I must see why he is struggling so much." The male figure floated down in ethereal form and entered Leo's mind.

--------------------------------

In Leo's mind, he was gathering mana to attempt raising the mountain again.

"Earth Control!"

Leo tried to raise the mountain again. The ground moved and started to rise. The rocks cracked, and a loud sound permitted the air after lifting the field almost a meter, Leo collapse. The strain was too much on him.

This time he didn't pass out but was unable to move.

"Ha ha ha ha ha hah." Bellowing laughter filled the air.

A man in a buffalo hide cape and matching helm looked down at Leo. Uncontrollable laughter escaped him. He couldn't help but laugh at this lads stupidity. His eyes we dark grey were tearing up from joy.

"Boy, it is not the mountain you need to conquer but your misguidedness." Once the man finished telling Leo that, he flew away.

--------------------------------

Exiting Leo's mind, the male figure flew into the sky laughing the entire way.

"Mahisha, why are you laughing so hard?" the female figure asked.

"I don't know if that boy is bold or dumb."

Even Lankani was curious and asked, "what do you mean?"

"The boy is in the trials of the mountain. Just like with any trial he is supposed to replicate the action on a small scale, but that kid trying to build an exact replica..." Mahasha couldn't help but break back into laughter. "The craziest thing is given a little time he might accomplish it."

The other was about to laugh with Mahisha till they heard that last statement. Create a mountain at the Tempered Body level is next to impossible.

"How could he pull that off?"

"The boy doesn't know it, but whatever technique he learned allows him to jump a level on law comprehension. In the past few days, he has mastered control. Now he's on the brink of mastering destroy."

"He is not even talented in earth laws, but he's learning it at a sprinters pace," The female figure remarked.

"I will make a bet with you two. If that boy passes the trial his way in the next seven days, you allow me to train him regardless if he passes the next trials or not." This was the first time they saw Mahisha this serious.

Lankani was the guardian of the palace and primarily in charge of it. He almost never deviated in the path his master gave him, but Mahisha was willing to sacrifice the last bits of his soul to train this boy.

The guardian was in deep thought. "Let him train the boy. If you don't, we will have to listen to him complain about the rest of our life." The female figure said sarcastically. She knew for Mahisha to get his way she would have to side with him. At the end of the day, she would always side with him out of love.

"Alright, in seven days he must raise an identical mountain to pass," Lankani said as he gave in to Mahisha's request.
