Mei Chao Bing smiled when he saw Yun Bei Fen's expression and then wondered which skill he should teach him. It couldn't be anything too difficult or Yun Bei Fen would have an even harder time grasping the concept, making him more flustered when he tried it. From what he had seen before, his little bunny relied more on being familiar with something and grasping the key concept internally than actually seeing through the concept behind it. When showing him things, you needed to make it as simple as possible.
After pondering for a moment, he came up with one possibility. "Alright, the skill I want to teach you is one that is pretty simple. Basically, you are using your spiritual energy to form a shield in front of you that will absorb or even reflect an attack back. Can you imagine that?"
Yun Bei Fen looked at him with wide eyes, trying to picture that in his head. He did have a bit of trouble with that though. He had never really seen his spiritual energy save for those blinding lights when he used his spiritual sense to find out where it was. But he couldn't really absorb or reflect anything with light, could he?
He tilted his head and then carefully glanced at Mei Chao Bing. "Somewhat?"
Mei Chao Bing gave him an indulgent smile, seeing straight through the fact that his little bunny hadn't understood anything. "Well, I guess it would be better to give you a demonstration then."
Yun Bei Fen nodded eagerly. He wasn't sure if he would actually be able to get it if he saw it but it could definitely not hurt to see Mei Chao Bing show off one of his skills. It would probably be awesome!
Mei Chao Bing couldn't help but chuckle. He rubbed Yun Bei Fen's back and then got up, turning to Yuan Lei and Yi Ju who were sitting not too far away. "Junior martial brother Yuan, would you mind assisting me with this?" He couldn't very well show a defensive skill on his own. While it wouldn't be a problem to use the spiritual energy to form the shield, the actual use of it couldn't be showcased with that. He needed somebody to attack him for that.
Yuan Lei nodded and got to his feet as well. "What do you want me to do?"
Mei Chao Bing went a few steps away and looked around to make sure that nobody was behind him in case something went wrong. He didn't want any accidents, especially while they were so close to the territory of the demonic cultivators. "Just attack me. I'll use the skill that I was talking about to absorb the damage."
Yun Bei Fen immediately straightened up, his whole body tense. Mei Chao Bing would be attacked?! He really didn't know if he still wanted to see this!
Yuan Lei smiled when he saw that reaction of his. "Don't worry, junior martial brother Yu. Senior martial brother Mei's level is higher than mine. Even if he was hit by the attack, it wouldn't hurt much."
Yun Bei Fen didn't look as if this would really calm him down. Anyway, even if he wasn't hurt much, he would still be hurt, wouldn't he? How could he just accept that? His senior martial brother Mei shouldn't have to suffer at all.
Mei Chao Bing looked at Yun Bei Fen and even though his heart hurt a bit when seeing him so panicked, he also couldn't help but feel sweet that the person he loved cared so much about him. Even when there wasn't much of a danger to him, Yun Bei Fen would actually get so worried for his sake. He had to love them really much.
Even though he wanted Yun Bei Fen to slowly learn to accept that not everything could go perfect and that he might be injured in the future as well, he couldn't stop himself and started to comfort him. "You really don't have to worry, Fen'er. Don't you trust me? Of course, I wouldn't get injured so easily. Just watch!"
Yun Bei Fen still wasn't quite convinced but seeing that his senior martial brother Mei had already promised it, he also didn't want to make trouble. Thus, he pressed his lips together and stared at him intently, ready to charge over at any moment to try and help.
Yuan Lei smiled when he saw that and then raised his hand. "I'll restrict my level a bit."
Mei Chao Bing nodded and then raised his hands. "Alright, Fen'er, make sure you try to perceive the spiritual energy with your spiritual sense first. At your current level, you'll probably not be able to see what happens otherwise."
Yun Bei Fen nodded hurriedly, hoping that it would be over soon.
Yuan Lei didn't go for any fancy attacks and just threw a ball of spiritual energy over at Mei Chao Bing.
Mei Chao Bing tried to gauge the density and then formed a shield that was at the same level. The attack collided with the shield and then just became a part of it, making the surface ripple for just a moment.
As soon as it was over, Yun Bei Fen leaped to his feet and then rushed over, frantically patting Mei Chao Bing's chest. He couldn't see any holes or blood or any sign of him being injured at all, finally making him calm down and heave a sigh of relief.
In the background, Tan Xin laughed. "Junior martial brother Yun is really too cute."
Liu Bao Ru who was sitting next to her nodded but she was actually looking at Mei Chao Bing. In front of this little junior of his, his gaze had become incredibly gentle. Obviously, he loved this person very much.
