Chapter 127 - I Wouldn’t Inflict That on Anybody

All eyes returned to Yang Wu Huang and it was painfully obvious that they were wondering just what he had done that would make Mei Chao Bing say something like this.

Yang Wu Huang tensed and for a moment he didn't know what to say. Mei Chao Bing had played this really well. Since everybody knew him as a person that normally didn't bother to say much and would just ignore the things that were thrown his way, it really made them wonder just how bad Yang Wu Huang's behavior needed to have been to make him actually speak out. Then, remembering that this person was Yun Bei Fen's fiance and that Yang Wu Huang had seemed pretty interested in him the last time, the disciples slowly started to fill in the blanks.

Maybe Yang Wu Huang had made a move on him? Maybe it was even worse and the last time, Yang Wu Huang had been projecting his own dirty thoughts on Mei Chao Bing? Maybe he had actually tried to do what he had accused Mei Chao Bing of doing. That really would have been a reason for that midnight wolf to give a warning. In fact, that would be bad enough to do more than just give a warning. Yang Wu Huang really wouldn't have a reason to complain.

Seeing the expressions around him turn uglier with the minute, Yang Wu Huang knew that he was in trouble. He could only thicken his face and pretend that he had no idea what Mei Chao Bing was talking about. As long as he denied the accusations, nobody would be able to say anything different.

"Senior martial brother Mei, I'm afraid I can't follow you. Just what did I do to offend you?"

Mei Chao Bing looked at him for several seconds in silence, making the tension on the square palpable. "Are you sure that you want me to say this out loud in front of others?"

Yang Wu Huang tensed up but then scoffed. "You really make it sound as if I did something bad. I don't even know what you're talking about. So why don't you say it?"

Mei Chao Bing furrowed his brows. "You really don't know what you did wrong?" He shook his head and sighed. "Well, if you don't understand, then let me be a little more clear: In the future, please refrain from touching my fiance. He does not consent to you doing that. In fact, if you care about him at all, then please stay away from him in general. He does not like you and after what happened both yesterday and when you approached him the last time, he is not comfortable being close to you. Is this clear enough?"

The disciples around them started to whisper again, staring at Yang Wu Huang with doubt in their eyes. They had known that there was some rivalry between the two of them but they never would have thought that Yang Wu Huang was actually that kind of person.

Yang Wu Huang's friends also turned to look at him. But in their gazes, there was no trace of disgust at what he had likely done and rather worry about what would happen next.

Seeing them, Yang Wu Huang slightly calmed down. Even though Mei Chao Bing might've been able to turn this into something unfavorable for him for the moment, he wouldn't be able to do that for long. After all, the two of them were in different positions. Just because he had gotten lucky a few times in the past days, that didn't mean that it would always stay like that. Mei Chao Bing's reputation was still much worse than his own and while Mei Chao Bing was alone, he had people on his side. He had nothing to fear.

Yang Wu Huang lowered his head and then sighed. "Senior martial brother Mei, I can understand that you're angry at me after what happened the last time. I really misunderstood you. I'm sorry. I probably shouldn't have believed in the rumors that were going around and should've given you a fair chance to speak out before I accused you of doing something unsavory to junior martial brother Yun.

"But especially considering that he is your fiance, I hope that you are able to forgive me for that. I really was just overly worried and did something wrong. The other day, didn't I also apologize for that? I really meant it. I just wanted to help and I went too far. I've realized that. And I hope that you are truly willing to accept my apology and move on from this. Do you really want to turn this into something more? There really is no need for you to pay me back like that."

Mei Chao Bing sighed and raised his brows. This Yang Wu Huang had always had a quick mind and a glib tongue. It was a pity that his conduct was so bad. "Don't worry, junior martial brother Yang. Since I have experienced myself what it means to be accused of something I haven't done, I would never inflict that onto anybody else."

He didn't bother to say anything else and just fell quiet. Anyway, the other disciples weren't dumb. They would be able to realize just what he meant; that this wasn't just empty talk like what had happened with him the last time but that there had indeed been an incident behind this. And if they couldn't figure that out … Well, whatever he said would be lost on them as well. No need to bother about them any further.
