Chapter 9 - Training

Somewhere deep in Pale-Blood Castle a little boy could be seen laying down on a bed deep in sleep, he had a small knot in his brows as if he was thinking about something. Suddenly he jumped out of his bed in fright. Vigently he looked around the room getting his bearings. He seemed to be in one of the guest rooms in his courtyard, but that didn't seem right because the last thing he remembered was being attacked at the lake by an assassin. He could still remember the pain all over his body from being beaten half to death by the masked man. Miraculously he doesn't feel any pain right now aside from some aches in a few places. He also felt extremely thirsty, like he needed down a few barrels of blood before feeling remotely better.

He quickly jumped back into bed because he could hear some footsteps coming close to the room he was staying in. He then pretended to be asleep as not to alert anyone. The door knob slowly turned and a few figures walked in.

"How is the boys' condition?" said a burly looking man in the middle of the group. "He's been asleep for 3 days now but you were busy so I didn't want to disturb you master. I instead told Lady Helen who has been taking care of him for the past few days. She would know his condition better than anyone else." Said another man clothed in blue cloth.

"So how is he Helen? Is he crippled? The way Festus described the fight at Pale Blood Lake, all of his bones should be broken without the possibility of recovery." Asked the burly man with a frown on his face.

"Lord Duke, his condition is actually very good, when Festus brought him here he indeed had broken bones but after we laid him down on the bed I noticed something was healing all of his injuries very quickly. I did not notice anything amiss with the healing other than it using his blood for the healing process but the process ended before it started to draw on his blood essence. In fact a few of the blood manderian channels that were blocked have all been opened now, which will have a great effect on his future cultivation. Said the fair lady to the right of the group.

What!? Is that true? Asked Duke Siegfried. "Yes Lord Duke, you can check his condition for yourself." replied Lady Helen. "Hahahaha even the heavens want my Pale-Blood clan to succeed. When I find evidence that my dastardly brother orchestrated this event I'll flay him alive and hang him on the city gates for 100 years. Said Duke Siegfried coldly while clutching his hands into a fist. "Now all we have to do is wait for the boy to wake up, and tell us about that transformation." "Hopefully he will awaken soon master." said Festus.

Godfrey laying down on the bed heard the whole conversation. He could feel tears welling up in his eyes from hearing how much they cared for him, especially his father. They were worried about him being asleep for a long time so he couldn't just still pretend to be asleep. He slowly rose up from the bed acting as if he just woke so they didn't think he was listening in on their conversation.

The 3 people seeing the person they were talking about getting up out of bed had shock then happiness on their faces. "Godfrey, how are you feeling? Is there anywhere that hurts?" asked Lady Helen. Rubbing his eyes Godfrey replied. " No I don't feel any pain Aunty Helen, Just really, really thirsty." "Festus quickly give him some of your blood nectar to drink, about 7 bottles of it, I'll compensate you later for it." Ordered Duek Siegfried.

"Yes Master, I'll give the young lord some to drink right away." Said Festus while reaching into his shirt. After removing his hands from his shirt 7 bottles with a golden liquid with a slight red hue could be seen in the bottles. He quickly handed them over to Godfrey, who popped the top of one quickly downing the contents whilst moving on to another.

"Godfrey could you tell us about that transformation that helped you kill the assassin? I have never heard of it appearing on any member of our race before." Asked Duke Siegfried.

After downing the last bottle Godfrey replied. "Transformation? I don't remember any transformation, the last thing I remember was laying on the ground in pain watching that assassin approach Aria. I felt extremely angry that I was so weak and couldn't do anything to save her, then I blacked out. As far as i'm concerned I didn't kill that assassin, I have no memory of it. What did I look like in that transformed state?"

"You truly don't have any memory of it?" "Nope." "Ahh, well it can't be helped, you had pitch black eyes, your hair seemed to have a darker shade of red and you had two huge blood red wings." Said Duke Siegfried while sighing. "Festus got there shortly after you killed the assassin and passed out. That was the state you were in. After you passed out you returned to normal."

"Hmmm, It seems that all those are the signs of the blood of the forefather, but I never imagined I would have all 3. It seems I'm a genius when it comes to that as well father." Said Godfrey while rubbing two fingers under his chin with blood nectour still dripping off his chin.

"Ahh 3 signs of the forefather. Why didn't I think of that, in all of our history we have never had such a thing happening. It seems that transformation will only happen in times of duress. That settles it, you and Festus will be training in this courtyard until you can properly defend yourself. Once you master the basics then you can learn cultivation from me." Said Duke Siegfried.

"Yes Father."

"Yes Master."

"Helen come with me. I have other matters to discuss with you."
