Chapter 94 - Do you like the gift I sent you?

DX took the letter and unsealed it.

As he sat down on the couch and read it quietly, Kai Xin peeked over his shoulder to have a look.

[ Dear XiAn,

Do you like the gift I sent you?

I was going to send you a birthday card, then I realized that you need a little more excitement in your life.

By the way, you jerk! Did you cheat on Kai Xin?!

You told me that you intend to make her your woman. That was the whole reason why I did not rat you out.

So, tell me.

What the fuck do you think you are doing with another man?

And give me a call when you read this letter!

Regards,

The first woman who said no to you. ]

He sighed when he was done reading. All of a sudden, he felt drained of energy.

Kai Xin placed her chin on his head and wrapped her arms around his shoulder as she chuckled,

"First woman who said no to you, huh? I haven't heard that story yet."

DX groaned as Kai Xin massaged his temples, "I would rather you not to. It was one of the most embarrassing moment in my life."

They turned to Quinn who was having a staring contest with Jack.

Quinn stomped her feet once to make her point, "I'm not a pipsqueak! I'm 8!"

Jack grinned, "You are short for an 8 year old!"

"Why am I surrounded by idiots..." sighed Lyle as he sat down on the couch and started playing Mario Kart by himself.

DX refused to deal with the children and asked Kai Xin if she wanted to talk to Layla.

"Of course! It has been a while since I talked to her. Let's give her a call!"

He took her hand and led her to the pavilion in the East Garden. The moment the video call went through, Layla's voice was heard by both of them loud and clear.

"Du XiAn! I swear! You better have a good explanation for the news or I'm leaving Quinn there with you for a longer period of time!"

He ignored her rambling and threats. Once she was done, he said, "Layla, nice talking to you again. I believe everything is well with you."

Layla sneered, "I'm not joking, Du XiAn."

Kai Xin laughed and said, "Hi, Layla. Thanks for having my back."

"..."

DX turned the phone slightly so that the both of them appeared in the screen.

Layla squinted her eyes as she stared at the man standing next to DX before asking curiously, "Kai Xin?"

"That's me. Did you not recognized my voice?"

"Ah...," drawled Layla, "Are you guys together now?"

Kai Xin glanced at DX before replying her, "Somewhat."

"Still contractual?"

"We are trying harder now."

Layla sighed, "If Du XiAn cannot satisfy you, I know plenty of men who would want you as their wife."

DX growled and turned the phone away so that Kai Xin was out of the frame, "What the hell do you want, Layla Rong?"

He glared at Kai Xin and mouthed, "Don't you dare listen to her!"

Kai Xin chuckled at his childishness.

Layla and DX grew up together.

From the stories she heard over the years, apparently Layla was more devilish than him when they were kids.

Layla laughed when she heard the growl, "Du XiAn, don't make me come and tie you up again."

He scowled at the memory of being tied upside down, "You can try but I will rip the ropes apart this time."

She scoffed at his reply, "Fine, I admit. You do have more brawns now."

DX glared coolly at the phone, "Straight to the point, Layla. You are bothering us."

Kai Xin gasped and slapped him lightly on the shoulder, "DX! That's Layla, my mentor!"

"I need you to look after my kid for a few days. I have to meet a potential client and I don't need Quinn running around scaring my client off. You are her Godfather so take care of her properly."

"I will take care of her even if I am not her Godfather. Who knew what you had been teaching her."

Layla shrugged, "Whatever. Tomorrow, at 11.20 p.m., I need you to bring her to the vintage ice cream store at Park Avenue at West Imperial. It was her favorite."

DX frowned, "That is an oddly specific instruction."

"Just do what I told you to. Remember, 11.20 p.m. Don't be late."

He sighed, "What else?"

"Quinn is sensitive about her height, so don't pissed her off. Also, make sure that she eats vegetables in every meal. I want her to try everything but in case she is being stubborn, tell your cook to prepare vegetarian burger made from grilled shiitake mushroom or minced meat mixed with vegetables. However, this should be the last choice."

DX nodded as he noted everything down, "Anything else?"

"Make sure she drinks her water. I can't be bothered to pack her bags. So, buy her some clothes."

"Layla Rong, you are getting really good at taking advantage of me."

"I know. Anyway, Kai Xin..." When DX turned the camera to face Kai Xin, Layla continued,

"...While I do not know why your relationship with XiAn turned gay, I'm glad that you are the 'man'. If he bullies you, let me know."

Kai Xin smiled and nodded vigorously while DX muttered a curse under his breath.

"I will see you guys soon. Bye."

Kai Xin waved at the camera and said, "Bye~"

She then turned to DX and muttered sadly, "I didn't realized how much i missed her."

DX pocketed his phone before pulling her into a hug. He was completely wiped out and needed to recharge.

"Layla's like a house lizard. Annoying, a nuisance! You don't want to see her. When she's gone, you don't miss her, but when you see her again, you would realized that you kind of oddly missed her."

Kai Xin laughed out loud at the description, "She would kill you for calling her a house lizard."

He grinned and kissed her on the neck before saying, "I have called her worst."

Kai Xin gulped as he stared into her eyes intensely. She recognized the hungry look in him.

Wrapping her arms around his neck, she tiptoed to lick him lightly on the lips while brushing her thigh against his sensitive part.

DX groaned as he placed a hand on the small of her back, "Kara... "

Just as DX was about to punish her for teasing him, an angry loud shout and sounds of things being broken coming from the house alerted them.

They sighed and turned towards the door as they watched Quinn running towards them with Jack shouting and limping right behind her.
