"XiAn! Be careful!!!" Song Qiao jumped up from her seat and yelled out in fear.
She tried to run towards DX but she was stopped by the attendants who were trying to maintain the order in the room.
Everyone was too afraid to move.
Out of fear, Old Madam Du tried to drag her son away but he calmly tapped her wrinkled hands to calm her down.
He took his mother's hand and placed it back on her lap as he reassured her, "It's alright."
Kai Xin grinned when she saw his actions and how he trusted her.
As she watched the man who was sitting there with his leg crossed, his aura screamed of royalty, she thought sadly, "Will you always trust me?"
As if he heard the question in her mind, he nodded.
She then redirected her aim up at the second floor and released her arrow at the huge balloons dangling from the ceiling that was filled with celebratory confetti.
The arrow swooshed past Callum and went into the wall behind him.
As hundreds and thousands of bright beautiful confetti paper fell, she stared right at Callum's eyes as if she was issuing a challenge to him.
When he looked at her in shock and anger, to his chagrin, she smirked at him as if she had not just tried to kill him.
"She…" Callum's hand went over his heart as he watched that person smirking at him through the confetti.
His heart stopped for a while earlier... it was not because of fear. It was a weird sensation that he had only felt once before. A feeling that he thought he would never feel again.
Shaking his head, he tried to dispel the feeling as he quickly retreated back into the main house to get his emotions in order.
Kai Xin went towards DX who stood up when he saw her walking towards him. She scratched her head as she held out the bow to him and apologized, "I'm sorry if I scared you, President Du."
DX took the bow and handed it to one of the staffs that was standing near him.
"You are still as mischievous as ever." DX smiled as he tousled her hair again.
"I nearly had a heart attack!" Old Madam Du complaint as she rubbed her chest. She turned to her son and angrily asked, "Why didn't you move? What if she meant it?!"
Without taking his eyes off Kai Xin, he replied, "Because I know that he knew what he was doing. If he had wanted my life, he could have done so a long time ago."
"Where did you find this young man?" Old Madam Du asked as she watched her son looking at the young man in a strange gaze.
She was uncomfortable with it. It reminded her of her husband. Du Jin had the same look in his eyes whenever he saw Callum's father.
"Fate brought him to me." Before she can asked further, he took her hand and said, "Let's go to the garden, Mother. It was about time for the dance."
To Kai Xin, he said in a low voice, "I will meet you at the garden later."
Kai Xin nodded and went to Naomi to talk to them.
"Oh my god! You are so cool earlier!" Rin exclaimed loudly as she worshipped Kai Xin, "Did you see Song Qiao's face? Her jaw basically dropped to the ground!"
Kai Xin smiled at her and looked at Naomi who was sporting red cheeks. "Are you alright? Is it too hot in here? Let's go to the garden to get some fresh air."
Naomi nodded and quickly walked away. Kai Xin was curious when she saw Naomi's sudden shyness and looked at Rin for answer but the young Nakamura merely shrugged. She was equally confused by her sister's reaction.
Decided not to think too much into it, the three made their way to the garden. As they walked pass Shangguan Xing's friends and Kai Xin heard them saying,
"Where is Xing? He missed such a good show!"
"Who cares? He probably went home out of anger."
Kai Xin excused herself from Naomi and Rin as she made a call. When the call connected, she did not say anything and merely "mmhmm" once.
Recognizing the signal, Phantom replied, "Target has been placed. I'll guide you there later. He should be awake in about an hour. Don't dally around for too long. You need to move to the room before he wakes up."
Her reply was a single cut reply, "Um."
She ended the call and quickly went to join the Nakamura sisters at the garden.
