The long awaited birthday party of President Du finally arrived.
All sorts of expensive imported cars and limos were lining up to drop off their young masters and young mistress at the front gate of the vast Du Mansion where hundreds of reporters were waiting outside the mansion trying to snap a photo that is worthy of a gossip.
A young man dressed in a bespoke midnight blue three piece suit from Ermenegildo Zegna was leaning against a tree located right outside the mansion as he finished off the black coffee that he bought earlier. Under his arm was a neatly wrapped gift.
When he was done, he took out the extravagantly designed gold invitation card from his pocket and strutted towards the guard. The reporters merely glanced at him curiously as no one knew who this youngster was.
As expected, the guards at the Du Mansion were well-trained and they stopped him immediately. They bowed respectfully as they asked for the invitation card. The young man handed it to them and when they allowed him to enter, he handed them the empty plastic cup and assumed a haughty tone as he said, "Throw it."
Used to such treatment, the guards merely nodded. Even though they found it odd that a person who managed to get the invitation actually chose to walk into the compound of the mansion instead of driving in, they knew better than to question him.
The instructions given by Old Mo was clear. Anyone with the invitations will be allowed entry and anyone without one will be kept outside the gate, and there would be no exceptions.
The young man whistled as he walked from the main gate to the main door of the mansion. The 32,000 sq ft mansion on the roughly 12 acres land was buzzing with activities from top to bottom.
The young man stopped whistling when he saw three helicopters flew in and watched as they landed on the various helipads located around the compound. Based on the logo at the side, all three of the helicopters were owned by the Du Corporation.
The journey from the main gate took him 15 minutes of leisure walking but since it was a cool night, he actually felt refreshed from the walk.
When he arrived near the main door, he saw a few young misses looking over at him curiously. Slowly, he took off the one of his earphones and ran his fingers over his carefully layered medium length dark brown hair before heading over to say hi.
The three young misses blushed heavily when he flashed them a grin. He had a boyish charm that made him looked approachable.
"It was a rather cool night isn't it? Perfect for a nice long walk."
The girls nodded. One of them introduced herself as Lily and her companions as sisters, Naomi and Rin. The young man smiled at the one speaking and said, "Lily? What a beautiful name that befits a beautiful woman like you."
Lily blushed as she muttered a thank-you. Just as she was about to say something, her father called her to go over and so, she excused herself from the group.
Turning over to the other two, the young man smiled at them as he asked, "Well, Naomi and Rin. I supposed you are of Japanese heritage?"
Naomi nodded. As the party has yet to start, they started chatting with each other. The young man liked the two sisters as they seemed to be humble and down to earth even though their appearance here meant that they were from a family with status.
When Naomi turned to look at someone, the young man noticed Naomi's hair which was tied up in a braided bun and fastened with pins. On each pin, there would be a single white pearl that shone brightly under the reflection of the moon. He reached over and tucked a stray strand back into the bun.
With a low and gentle voice, he teased, "You are such a pretty little thing. Guys must have went crazy over you."
Slightly embarrassed, Naomi shook her head and sighed, "They would never see me...At least, he would never see me."
"Which blind guy are you in love with? You are beautiful. Why won't he see you?"
"Because of the Song Family eldest daughter, Song Qiao." Rin pointed out and pointed to the elegant woman who just got out of a Rolls Royce.
Rin said bitterly, "My sister has had her eyes on the unobtainable President Du since we were teenagers. However, he barely knew her. Not when Song Qiao is here."
The young man watched as President Du who had just appeared at the top of the stairs walked towards Song Qiao. They seemed to be joking about something as he was smiling when he led her up the stairs.
"I would never win against Song Qiao," Naomi lamented as she watched them,"She's so much better than me."
The young man gently patted her head, "Don't be too disheartened. I am sure he was only treating her like a friend."
Naomi shook her head, "My father told me that Old Madam Du had been talking with Director Song about the possibility of marriage. They wanted to arrange a marriage between the Du Family and the Song Family."
The young man frowned, "Arranged marriage? Do people still do that?"
Naomi bit down on her lower lips as she nodded tensely. Her expression was one of sadness and fear. When the young man looked at her sister for an answer, Rin said sadly as she held onto her sister's arm, "Father has accepted the marriage request from Shangguan Re Dong. My sister is to be the wife of his eldest son, the womanizer, Shangguan Xing!"
