Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 3: Scammers are everywhere

Connor was in no mood to listen and pay attention to his surroundings and at the moment got the time thinking what to do about their source of income which is at the time, is of utmost importance.

He would have considered everyone around him to be stones in place because of his countenance showing no sign of attentiveness to the situation. As the situation "worsened" the quirky teacher decided to take action and ensued silence upon the class.

Connor suddenly got out of his thinking and immediately paid attention to the lesson going on and listened attentively. It was a lesson about history from the shifting of the era from the Information Age to the Space Age wherein the Planet Earth started to colonize other planets on a constant interval of about 3 years depending on the distance and factors for the planet to be livable but as of the time per se is not a problem because of a huge technological advancements that happened 75 years ago.

But to think that the universe is so vast, it is needless to say how far could mankind reach. The lesson came to an end. Connor noticed his new seatmate and immediately recognized who she is.

"Hi, Jasmine is it? Didn't expect to see you here and be my classmate and even become my seatmate" said Connor with an enthusiastic tone.

"Same too, by the way can to take me on a tour in this school? This school is so huge and it would be a waste not to know of its constituents. I might as well find a gem in here."

"Gem?" questioned Connor with sparkle in his eyes.

"No, no I mean a 'a gem of a place'" answered Jasmine with correction.

"Oh, ok. How disappointing. By the way, school is done for today and I hope to see my beautiful seatmate tomorrow again. I have some errands to do. Goodbye!" said Connor.

Jasmine's face flushed a bit of a color pink mixed with her fair complexion.

"Wait! Aren't you gonna give me a tour?" Questioned Jasmine to the running away Connor while her hands outstretched to him begging him not to go away immediately.

"Maybe next time, ok? Just not now" said Connor while fading away at a distance.

As Connor looked back, he could see the majestic sight of the school if viewed in a distance.

It glistened in the sunlight of the afternoon as the sun silently settled in the mountains and the clouds with a color of bright orange red. The crest of the school also did the same but of a different color because of different materials incorporated to it as if it was mixed with other precious minerals like gold and mythril. After all, this is the only grand posh school located in their district so it was just normal to have this kind of sight.

Connor thought for a second of the possibility of stealing the crest because of its obviously exorbitant price because of the materials but immediately trashed the idea. How could I do that? It was like biting the hand of the one feeding me and even if I managed to steal it, how could I even have a chance of escaping unscathed? Connor mindfully thought.

"Hey, big brother! Let's go home!" called his sister, Grace Morgan Schneider.

"I'm glad you're here my little sister, yeah why don't we do that? I'm starving" answered Connor.

"Hey! Don't call me little. I'm not little anymore, hmph!" remarked Grace.

"Ok ok. Let's just go home already."

. . .

Connor and his little sister took the Maglev Train home because they have no other choice to go home and on top that, the Maglev offers considerable speeds and they cannot afford expensive transportation means like jetliners and mini-aircrafts.

They finally arrived home and greeted their Mother, Lauren Schneider.

"We're home!" said both siblings.

Both siblings immediately took care of their own businesses as soon as they came home.

A thought came to his mind. A while ago while turmoil is enveloping the class, he had the chance to eavesdrop into a conversation of his fellow classmates.

"Look at this! Don't you want this?" said a man while pointing at the stack of cash in his hands.

"Where did you get that lot of money?" questioned the other classmate with interest.

"If you are a good player like me, this game that I will be mentioning will be lucrative enough for y'all. That is guaranteed by me. Hahaha!" said the man with boastfulness.

"Whooo…Tell us boss. What game is this you are telling us about?" questioned the others and the classmate with an endearing attitude and even a call name for the person offering this kind of opportunity. After all, not all students in this school are of both high grades and distinguished identities as aristocrats and rich.

Some of the school's population is of only high grades but of oppressed situations such as of being poor and only have the chance to be in this place because of their studious and hard-working predicaments.

They have the same circumstance of Connor so as to say.

They too have the same goal of earning enough money to sustain their schooling and needs and fortunately proceed to graduation and also because of the school's low graduation rate because of its high standards.

Nevertheless, Connor has the lower hand since his task is of even higher difficulty since he lost his father and had to sustain for his mother and sister as soon as possible since their saved up money will not last forever.

"Operation at Arms Online. This game is what I've been playing for 4 years now and have managed to acquire a lot of knowledge about. I also know the ins and outs of this game" said the man with an indignant voice and said this for boasting purposes but for a true nature of the game. He really accumulated that lot of knowledge because of his time spent in the game.

"I really am very willing to teach to y'all how to earn money in this place fast but in my side, that requires a fee. What I am going to teach you is not for free and a lot of people have been doing so just to learn of this game. If you pay upfront, I will charge an exorbitant discount because we are friends, right? How about a 12000 EXO credits for the tutorial fee?"

His 'friends' are shocked by the predicament of this gentleman. They did not expect for this friend to charge a fee and even a higher one on top of that. Why not help each other? Right?

"Friend, why not we help each other and just charge us when we would have the money to pay you with?" pleaded the 'friends' of the man.

"I'm afraid that I cannot do that. I'm already giving y'all a discount. 10000 EXO credits for last, take it or leave it? How about that?" said the man.

All of his friends gave it a second thought. How about we learn the game all by ourselves? After all, 10000 EXO credits are a lot and they cannot afford to lose that much money but on the other side, if they were to progress fast and have the guidance of a game guru to guide them all throughout the game and would even teach them how to earn real money fast. They choose the latter.

Poor bastards, they don't even know what they've gone into. That guy is surely scheming and would end up being a scam. I don't believe it. Even in this school, there are even kinds of people that are scammers.

I would not doubt it that, that scum will teach them how to progress better in the game but I doubt that he will teach them how to earn real money even at a fast rate on top of that.

He would only use them to his own advantage.

Nonetheless, I can give it a try and discover it myself.
