Chapter 2 - 1: Superbiam Potentiam

Rienna's POV:

"Well? Come on, speak up!" I looked at the messenger in front of me, kneeling on the ground.

I could tell he was restless, with the way his wings kept on flapping and the uncomfortable look on his face.

He cleared his throat and opened his scroll. "Your royal highness, Princess Rienna Drakos, it is to inform you that you and your sister have been formally invited to the royal palace on behalf of the Royal Family to discuss the wedding."

I noticed his particular tone of voice when he referred to my sister.

Disgusting filth, he dares to speak of her that way.

My fingers twitched. "You will treat my sister with respect, Svres. She is a princess not a lowlife filth like you." The messenger flinched and bowed lower, "I apologize for my insolence." His voice trembled.

So they still want to discuss the wedding, I should refuse but I can't have a war on my hands.

I smirked. "Tell me messenger, what would they do if I said no?" He paled, knowing what would happen to him if he conveyed my particular message.

Yes, you should know your place, lowlife. How dare you think you can get away with treating my sister like that.

"Tell them I accept their invitation, I shall start preparing immediately." He sighed in relief, the nervous flapping of his white wings coming to a rest.

"You can go now." I waved him off. He nodded, scurrying off.

I sighed.

"Arayna still hasn't arrived, I presume?" I glanced at my most trusted official, Reniere who nodded silently.

Just when I was about to stand up, someone burst in through the door.

"I know, I know I'm late, no need to reprimand me about it sister." My twin sister came in, her black hair bellowed behind her.

She still hasn't had her awakening, yet that Arvis filth still dared to treat her this way. When she has her awakening she'll be stronger than me. I chuckled.

"Arayna, looks like we got our invitation." She smirked at me.

"Are they stupid, inviting you? Don't they know what you can do to them?" She looked at me, her eye color changing to silver. Her feelings were easy to read as her eye color changed according to her emotion, silver was the color of dominance, amusement, a sense of superiority. When she would awaken her true appearance would take form, her eyes and hair would change.

It would be so fun if her eyes were red like mine, I would love to see the look on the faces of those who thought she wasn't fit to be in the royal family.

An official burst in through the door after her, almost knocking Arayna down.

When he saw what he had done, his eyes widened in horror. "Y-Your highness, I apologize for my disgraceful behavior towards you, this s-servant deserves to be punished for his actions." He kneeled on the ground.

"It's ok, I'm sure you did it by accident." She smiled at him, sometimes I truly could not believe she was a demon. She acted like an angel, the irony of this situation was hilarious.

"Arayna, you need to be firm with them or they'll keep on thinking they can push you around." I sighed.

The servant lowered his eyes, "Your highnesses, a fight broke out between the Baskerville and the Vonturis families, their markets were sabotaged and now they're blaming each other. I'm afraid with how things are going they're going to destroy the marketplace soon."

"Again?" I pinched the bridge of my nose. "Don't they know I've told them multiple times about what will happen if they continue this foolish behavior, looks like they need to be taught a lesson for taking my warnings lightly."

I was in my normal, easy-to-move-around-in clothes or as Arayna called them my chill-out clothes, I couldn't believe this girl sometimes.

"Arayna, do you want to come with me? To see the marketplace?" I asked her. She shook her head, her gaze wistful and silent, " I think it's best if I don't go, just in case."

"Arayna, what happened?" I clenched the arm of the throne tightly.

Arayna sighed. "Nothing, nothing at all."

"This conversation isn't over, Arayna. We'll talk about this when I get back."

She rolled her eyes and managed a smile at me. "Go."

"I'm going, I'm going."

I stepped out of the throneroom and through my private hallway.

I entered my room heading straight for my balcony.

I opened the door and let my eyes wander over the view. The balcony was positioned in a way where I could see the entire kingdom, from the palace grounds all the way to the market and to the mountains that separated the two areas of Hell. One where the evil souls of mortals were judged according to their sins and given their appropriate punishment and the lands where everyone lived and earned their keep.

I looked at what lay before me, a small smile on my face.

My beautiful kingdom.

My beautiful Hell.
