The seconds passed and Sasaki's eyes sped onto the wall, landing on the gleaming metal or the imposing wood of which the weapons on the walls of the room were composed. What would suit her best ? It was all about finding a weapon that would allow her to attack and defend herself properly, and that she could handle.
Given her physical strength, a light weapon would certainly be more appropriate... She also preferred to stay away so as to avoid direct confrontation. Of course, the duels would always disadvantage her, this was the case for all distance classes in the MMORPGs... But since she did not intend to play alone, it was a choice that seemed appropriate.
Ofelya already had an arc, so she probably could not take this weapon... Maybe a scepter, a stick or a wand would do the trick ? She did not have a lot of spells yet, but that would probably allow her to fight from a distance...
Her eyes rested on the metal that made up the small barrel of a pistol. It was not very big and covered with ornaments like white feathers, but seemed pretty easy to handle... Sasaki approached the weapon and took it between her hands, to assess its weight.
"A magic gun ? It's a pretty bad choice..." The class master laughed. She did not need to see the man's face hidden under the bandages to imagine the smirk he was displaying.
"Isn't it a gun ?" Asked the girl who thought that this gun was firing real ammunition.
"No. All the cannons, guns, machine guns, and more that you'll see here are magic weapons. You see, the world of Alveola is divided into two continents, one where magic has been part of the environment since always, and the other where the magic doesn't even exist. Technology is much more advanced there, and they have firearms. In return, they can't use magic, just as we can't use real firearms. This gun is just a sham of the technology that is inaccessible to us, but it still works, using magical ammunition." Explained Magen who did not move an inch, waiting for the girl to make her choice to test a first weapon.
Sasaki had listened to the polymorph master tell her about the world she knew so little with attention, very happy to learn a little more. So there were other continents ? They already had not even left the first city, it was not likely to be for tomorrow...
"I want to test this weapon." She announced, grabbing the pistol.
"Well, I'm ready."
Magen had announced that he was ready but had not even bothered to be on guard, and waited with the arms crossed that the girl shoot at him.
Sasaki pointed the barrel at the bandaged man, aiming his head directly. She did not know exactly where the heart was, so she preferred to aim for a place where she would be sure to do some damage. Her hands were shaking a little, not used to using this kind of weapon that even if it was not real, made her feel like a criminal.
The girl pressed the trigger and a loud bang sounded in the room. At the same moment, she felt a great pain at the end of her arm, and something fell to the ground. She had closed her eyes when she had fired, and found that she no longer saw the pistol in her hands when she opened them again. In fact, she could not see her hands either.
"Aah..." Understanding what had just fallen to the ground, terrified, she only saw the eyes of his master as she fell into the void.
And yet she was standing upright in the middle of the room, still awake. She inspected her hands and found the pistol between her fingers, which she could still move. The pain was gone too. What had happened ? Had she hallucinated ? Or had he made her see an illusion ?
"You don't have the abilities for that kind of weapon, your hands are shaking too much, and you haven't hit me. I've had time to disarm you before you can do anything." Magen scoffed at her, staring at her. So what had happened was real ? She had not even seen him move... How could he be so strong ? Dylan was nothing next to him...
"You better get a melee weapon, at least your tremors would not be a problem, and I'm sure you can be a fury whenever you want. Hurry up. You have only two chances left."
Sasaki was feeling nauseated and her vision was starting to get blurry. Unable to understand what had happened to her, she had yet to choose a new weapon, without wasting time...
This time her attention went to a spear. He had advised her to take a melee weapon, but if she could try to stay a little away from her opponent, she would be better off. And then she doubted she could manage to use a sword or an ax, which seemed too heavy weapons for her.
"I'm waiting for you." Magen declared again. This time, Sasaki did not wait until he was ready to fight back and rushed at him with the tip of the spear pointing toward the polymorph master's chest. Yet it was hers that she felt pierced by a metal stake that emerged from behind, carrying her heart beyond her body.
But like the last time, she found herself standing in the middle of the room, and the pain disappeared as it had appeared. And the master had not made a move.
"Do you understand why there are so few polymorphs in Alveola ?" He asked, well aware of what had happened. And he was the only one to understand what he had done to her.
"I'm the best polymorph in the game, and I can easily defeat anyone. So please don't waste my time any longer, since you'll be the eternal worst polymorph of the game. And since you have no chance of defeating me, you'd better give up right now. "
