Chapter 1 - I do

They both stood in front of the beautiful sunset, her hair that seemed to dance in the wind revealed her beautiful face to the young man in front of her. She was around 16 and only reached the man's shoulder but she had her arms crossed with an odd look of transparency and confusion.

"I..." the boy started but seemed lost for words as he gazed at her with eyes full of passion and emotion. He was well built and tall, around 18 years of age but was in the same academic year of the young girl yet he had done so much more with is life, even becoming an uprising teen actor.

He took a deep breath, "I love you..."

He saw her expression of surprise but didn't see the odd flash of emotion. "I have always loved you, even that time six years ago...."

She sighed silently before looking up to the coolest guy in her high school.

Then she opened her mouth to speak.

In a small cafe in the heat of the afternoon, a girl sat peacefully drinking a cold milkshake that refreshed her as her friend ranted about how unfair the world was.

"No!? What do you mean you said no!?" She said naturally angry with this new piece of information this girl had handed over to her.

"I didn't say no, I just said I needed time to think about it.." the girl replied calmly in contrast to her friend's burst of emotion, it was just a confession, what was she so worked up about?

"Juliet, it was your first confession and you say let you think about it!? That's the same as saying no!" She lectured as Juliet just sat quietly drinking her milkshake.

"Big sis, I'm not into him anymore so can't we just let it go?" Juliet replied feeling bitter about what happened all those years ago.

"How could you not be into him!? He's the coolest guy in school! And he just recently became single too!"

Just became single? So was she his second choice? For some reason that didn't seem to sit well with her, she was a backup plan?

"He might be the coolest guy in your school but I don't like him anymore, not after what happened."

She said as she finished the last drops of her milkshake. "Actually, I stopped liking him three years ago when I left so let it go Nicole," Juliet said sighing, a man like him.... what a joke, she had loved better and more befitting.

"Come on, just give it a go ok? He should be going back home by now cause school's starting soon, you don't even have to see him every day and if you aren't feeling it in two weeks you could always dump him."

She listened quietly.

"I mean, you haven't dated before right?"

[Who said I haven't dated before?]

"...Ok"

They both said their goodbyes and parted ways, Juliet sighed to herself as the weather seemed to have taken a turn for the worst. She searched her handbag before bringing out, she opened it listening to the sound of raindrops pattering on her umbrella, she really couldn't believe that the person she thought hated her the most in the world actually loved her.

Or so he says...

It was to be expected, why wouldn't she be suspicious? She wasn't a naive child that would fall for him just because he confessed to her. As she walked pasts the various shops filled with commercials for perfumes, makeup, lingerie, surgeries.

It was disgusting, pushing their social ideals on her, swarming billboards and posters with new dieting materials, showing off the rising model, Pamela Bentham. She looked up to see her gorgeous face that had gained her all the attention she currently had, then she looked down and carried on walking.

Juliet was basic, jealous, and envious of such a life, she knew she personally wasn't able to compete with her but if there was a little chance.... just one.

This just wasn't enough, her life was dreadfully normal, nothing about her was unique at all, she wanted more. She wanted to be special, to be admired to be loved by a man of unparalleled beauty. Did such a man exist?

She sighed sadly as she opened the door to her house, no one was home as always. She took off her shoes and kept her umbrella to dry before taking off her bag and heading upstairs. She collapsed on her bed before string at the ceiling, a man that is unparalleled... did such a man exist?

Yes, once such a man existed... but now...

[~ring~ring~]

She picked up her phone that was still buried under the useless things in her bag, she saw the caller and she immediately picked up, a deep voice immediately spoke.

"Have you considered my offer?"

A man like that once existed in her mind and it was this man... But her love for him had long died and instead what was left was raw greed and ambition, right then she was willing to say anything in other to gain the ultimate satisfaction of having someone people believed was unparalleled.

"I-...." her eyes glossed by a mirror where she stared at herself before she immediately stopped talking. Then she quietly hung up on the phone and put it on silence before tossing it aside.

She had forgotten something crucial, he was unparalleled in the eyes of others but she was mediocre, nothing about her was stunning or unique, overweight, and invisible.

For a man like that to like her was impossible, more than likely he was planning to use her, but for what she was unsure. She collapsed once again on her bed, her eyes stung slightly but she wasn't in the mood to vent her frustrations, she simply didn't have the qualifications to step into such a world.

Even if she did what courage would she have to parade as his girlfriend? Not only would she be slandered and mocked and even used by him and she would also feel the mental toll.

[But don't you think it's unfair?]

Naturally, she thought it was unfair, being born beautiful would have put her on a completely different class, she had always known that but this is reality, she had to suck it up and carry on with her life. Her only talent was her brains, she wasn't willing to let that slip because she was worrying over stupid issues like that.

[Then let it go]

Let it go? That seemed to be the best option, to deal with it and move on, what's the point of getting worked up over it? She knew the world of the hierarchy was ugly and something she couldn't handle getting involved in because she was too blunt and couldn't hold her mouth.

She picked up her phone again, seeing the four missed calls she called him back and before he could ask if she was ok, "I'll be your girlfriend, on the condition you keep it a secret."
