Chapter 7 - Let's meet

Destroyer DDS-144 Kurama, somewhere in the Pacific Ocean

"Captain! We have a reply from Imperial Japan Navy"

"Let me see it"

Captain Ichiro takes the message from the communication crew and reads it.

"Hohoho…this is going to be interesting"

"Captain? What's their reply?"

"They ask for a meeting. Do you think that possible?"

"By calculating the speed of the current Japan seaplane of this era with the distance with our ship, it would take 2-3 hours from Japan Combined fleet to arrive here. If they only visit for less than 30 minutes, they can make it back to Japan Combine fleet before the night falls. By the way Captain, what will you do when they really come to us?"

"Negotiate with them, of course. We can't continue to stray in the Pacific Ocean without any place to stay right? We also need fuel and supplies for our ship and crew"

"I understand that Captain, but what we had to offer for Japan Navy? If we just joint the Combined fleet and under their command, I'm afraid not all of our crew will agree with that. And, although we're in different time and place, we still Japan Self-Defense Forces. We should not participate in attacking other countries"

"You afraid there would be a mutiny because of differences in ideal among the crew?"

"That possible to happen when we join the Combined fleet, Captain"

"I know that…that' why I also don't want to be involved with this war. Return to our time is our top priority, right? And the safety of our ship and crew is the second of it"

"Then…what will you offer for Japan Navy to get what we need, Captain?"

"That's what we will negotiate with Admiral Yamamoto…but in short, we will act like 'Mercenaries' or 'Bodyguard' whatever suit you. Admiral Yamamoto is not a stupid person, once he sees our ship and understands its value, the door for negotiation will open"

"And what's should we reply to them, Captain?"

"Tell them our coordinate position, and say we welcome their visit on our ship"

"Aye, Captain"

Flagship battleship Yamato, on its cruise on the Midway island

"Admiral, we get the reply from that mysterious ship"

"Oh, let me see that quick"

Admiral Yamamoto quickly take the message paper from radio crew and read the message before laughing loud

"Hahaha…they're really interesting fella. Tell the first lieutenant Sawamura from Flight Division to get ready"

"Yes, Sir!"

The crew immediately leaves the room to carry out Admiral Yamamoto's order. Mayor Watanabe looks at Admiral Yamamoto with complicated feelings

"Admiral…don't say you will really go to meet them"

"Eh, I already said I will go, right?"

"You can't! Who else will lead this fleet if you're absent?"

"You will…and you talk like I will never return, Watanabe. Are you wish for me to die?"

"No, no no…that's not what I mean. I mean you can send someone else to meet them. It doesn't necessarily you to go there by yourself, Admiral"

"Ah, if the seaplane has three seats I will bring you along Watanabe, but unfortunately they only have two seats. Besides I need you here to watch the fleet in my absence. Also, I think I'm not going to meet the enemy but a potential ally. That need negotiation skill and decision making which not someone on lower rank can decide"

"Ugh…I understand, but please be careful, Admiral"

"You start talking like my mom Watanabe…Hahahaha"

Submarine USS Flying Fish, somewhere in the Pacific Ocean.

"Captain Davis sir! We intercept Japan radio communication. It's currently being decoded but there's something interesting in their message"

Captain Hubert Davis, captain of USS Flying Fish take the message paper from his radio crew.

"Is this the message?"

"Yes, please take a look at the last sentence"

"This looks like…coordinate?"

"Yes, Sir. Could it be…that's Japs fleet located?"

"It might be or might not, but it's worth to check! Bring the map!!"

His crew immediately get him the map of the Pacific Ocean. Captain Davis starts working on the position of his submarine and the coordinate in the message.

"That was close! It's only two hours distance from our current location"

"Captain….is that mean…."

"Yes! Let's hunt some Japs ships. Full speed, 30 depth, load all torpedoes launcher "

"Aye aye captain"

The spirit of USS Flying fish rises when hear they will go hunting some enemy ship. Slowly, USS Flying fish dive deeper and faster, heading to the coordinate which mentioned in the intercepted message.
