Chapter 16 - Zebedee's Sense

THE SATURN TERMINAL is the name for the entry point created by humans more than a hundred thousand years ago. This has become their entry to a certain points in the Milky Way Galaxy. These are called Terminals then. Zebedee knows that a certain mutated human named Michael assisted the regular humans in inventing and crafting the first terminal and the rest of the humans somehow managed to copy the design made by this Michael Oliver Lee. It was said the Michael exhibited great stress when the humans first sent these human mutants into their 'deaths' in this first 'wormhole' terminal. Knowing about these Mekholis and Lexais as the supreme conquerors of the Andromeda Galaxy, it is not far-fetched to conclude then that the experiments of humans at the Saturn Point Terminal in order to eliminate these mutants eventually became their salvation and signaled the reign of these mutant humans, whose minds and capabilities are so beyond humans.

For Zebedee, it appears that a powerful wave of quietness rippled through the multitude in the huge auditorium. It was so quiet that nearly everyone can hear the footsteps of the Emperor Egher. After a short greeting, the Emperor called each servant, one after the other.

Emmer's recommendation of Leeh Xamai as the Head Kersian of the Armed forces did not fall on deaf ears. As the Emperor calls each name, applause from the audience came automatically, and it didn't escape Zebedee's observation.

"Do they really do this? I have a feeling that the audience are like robots."

"They were doing it willingly. You should remember that this set up was copied from the humans." Emmer countered.

"Earth wasn't that way when we left it."

"O.W.N.S. degenerated into a world kingdom, with an absolute ruler waging war against us, mekholis. I don't think you remember that."

"I guess not. I was busy sleeping then."

Emmer's amusement was evident but it quickly transformed into uneasiness when he heard that Lah Ribheg only shared the command of the large Kersian Courier Alliance with Lah Farai. It means Lah Farai was promoted a step higher, but Lah Ribheg remained. The structure of the Courier Alliance was clearly divided into two - the Star Sailors and the Couriers. As expected, the head Courier now heads the separate entity of Couriers. Lah Ribheg remained as the commander of the Star Sailors. Before the Emperor broke the Alliance, Lah Farai merely heads a division of it. Ribheg now leads a smaller group of Star Sailors, with expanded power. It is now the Star Force - with a clearly defined power similar to the Guardians.

Another surprise appointment was Rooh Fizel, the new head of Palace servants, replacing Rooh Zivel. Emmer doesn't know Fizel much although he has seen him before - normally with Rooh Zivel.

"The Emperor appears to be making new appointments in the Guards around him," Leeh Xamai said.

"Did he consult you concerning these things?" Prince Emmer said.

"He didn't. But he's the Emperor of 700 years. He knows what he's doing. He didn't consult you either?" The Guard, obviously worried asked the Prince back.

"We had a long conversation but he never mentioned anything like this. This is meant to be a surprise, even for his family," Emmer observed.

Emmer thought for a while. What is the Emperor thinking right now? If I were him, would I be doing the same and why?

As tension arises among them, Emmer started smiling, almost to a point of chuckling beside Zebedee.

Zebedee still unable to grasp what was happening although he did have a keen idea what Prince Emmer is smiling or even what is making him feel amused.

"Whatever you are thinking my Royal Prince and friend," Lee Xamai observed, "I hope this does not make me a sacrificial lamb of something."

"You are thinking beyond what I can imagine," The Prince said, "and of course, being a notch higher in position, I can understand your 'worry' about persons you barely know standing side by side with you on the Gem Hall."

Leeh Xamai relaxed a bit, "I suppose you are in your 'My Father's line of thinking mode', now my Prince."

"Not trusting the Emperor's decisions is a serious offense if you were a few notches lower in your rank now, Xamai."

Zebedee sensed something wrong this.
