Bright sunlight unpleasantly streaks across an older woman's face as she groans awake. Dolores blearily opens her eyes to glance at the clock on her bed-stand, the clock reads 12:10 p.m. The older woman blinks sleepily as the message of the time is slowly relayed to her brain. Her eyes suddenly fly wide open as she throws the covers off and grabs her pink morning robe hanging on the bedpost.
Dolores hurriedly slips into her slippers, while tying her robes closed in a proper, prim manner. With a loud flourish, the older woman opens her bedroom door and hurries into the kitchen. Dolores swiftly pulls out a pan and some eggs to make breakfast. "I am so sorry, Miss. I don't know what came over me, but my alarm didn't go off this morning," Dolores sincerely said as she turns on the stove.
The sound of sizzling food is soon heard as a delicious scent fills the air. With the ease of a trained professional, she smoothly serves the piping hot food onto plates. "Alright, Miss breakfast is ready," Dolores hollered as she places the two plates onto the kitchen table. Only silence greets her ears rather than the usual complaining.
Frowning, Dolores glances up to find the T.V. turned off. She strides over to the couch, but the noticeable sleeping figure is gone. Stumped Dolores places her hands on her hips and frowns. "Miss, Breakfast is ready," Dolores loudly repeated as she makes her way to the master bedroom. The bedroom is tidy as usual, but the figure that should be reading on the bed is noticeably missing. Dolores carefully peers into the private master bathroom, but the figure that would be soaking in a warm bubble bath and reading a book is missing.
Baffled and becoming increasingly worried, Dolores returns to the kitchen, when a piece of paper on the floor catches her attention. Dolores quickly marches over and retrieves the note off the floor. The note in scribbled handwriting says,
"I went on a camping trip with friends. I'll be back in a couple of days. Enjoy your vacation, Dolores. You can even…. wink…. watch that movie with the tie-up scenes.
Izo."
Dolores flushes with embarrassment, but more importantly with annoyance. Dolores stomps over to a chair and sits down. She angrily stabs the warm food with a fork and mutters under breath, "Ungrateful girl. Here I am rushing to cook for her and she leaves without saying a word. Hmph, see if I'll cook breakfast for her from now. That'll show her."
