"I did that to save you," he replied matter-of-factly.
"I believe that you are a sensible girl." He looked her in the eye and said, "You didn't shed a tear despite the situation you were put through earlier."
"I'm… used to it." Her shoulders shrugged slightly as his words hit her tender spot.
He slightly bent over and pushed back her fringe to have a better look at her, his lips curving into a gentle smile.
"You don't have to be strong as a girl. A child who knows when to cry gets a candy."
She silently pondered on his words.
She had always been a sensible girl from a young age. In fact, she was too strong-willed. She would rather bear the burden than complain about it.
However, the longer she had to bear, the heavier it got.
She pursed her lips and smiled. "Thank you. I understand what you mean now."
