Mister Ryou, Raygen and Grandma Reggie went to where Marie Cromwell is as quickly as possible. There they saw her still covered by the shield her husband casted a while ago. There were signs of battle from the other side of the room but Grandma never saw Herald's corpse or the maid that it killed.
"My lord, just what happened here?" the old woman asked.
"Grandma Reggie, can you please hold him for me for now. I'm heavily wounded but as you can see I'm still fine. Mister Ryou casted a spell for me but it is still a stopgap measure. I'll be heading out to the barracks with him and sort out some things then I'll be going to see a healer. Please don't tell Marie if she wakes up, I'll be the one to tell her the details later. Just tell her that I'm fine and that our son is fine." He handed the child after kissing its head. Then he changed his bloody armor.
"Thank you, sir for helping us" the old woman turned to Mister Ryou.
Mister Ryou just nodded at her with a smile. "Let's go".
After walking out of the house, they rushed to the barracks and saw the soldiers standing in awe at the shield protecting them from the monsters. They were really sure that some of them will die today after seeing the monsters emerge from the forest.
Raygen and Mister Ryou headed straight to the war room and saw six old men currently talking to each other. When they saw their lord enter the room, they greeted him almost at the same time.
"My lord, thank god your safe."
"Who is this, my lord?" a general finally asked.
"He is our town's savior. I can't tell you much for now because we need to overcome this crisis first. And I can't be in the vanguard this time. You can see me fine right now but I'm actually heavily wounded right now and in need of medical assistance. General Clave will be in charge but I hope all of you will do everything to save our home."
"My lord, General Bert Herald is still not here. We were told that he was with you".
"I killed him. He was a demon all along. He tried to kill me and steal the formation tool that now shields us for now from the demons. It is thanks to Mister Ryou here that my family escaped that calamity."
"That damn bastard" a general voiced out what he was thinking.
"My lord, how about my wife, is she okay?" General Christian Drake asked. He was Grandma Reggie's husband.
"She was attacked by another demon and was injured a bit. Fortunately, we came on time to save her. She is alive and well with Marie."
"Ahaha as long as she is fine my lord. Hahahaha how can a mere single demon kill my wife, even I am no match for her. Ahahaha they need an entire platoon to take her down. Hahaha". The old General rejoiced.
Mister Ryou never knew whether to laugh or cry at the general's remark. 'This guy is interesting'.
Raygen just smiled at this as he knew that guy's eccentric character.
"My lord, how about Herald's family?" another general asked.
Mister Ryou replied for him, "You don't have to worry about that. I can assure you that I know there is no more demons in this town. As for the other general, he was possessed alright. I have certain methods to identify a demon even if he has the tools or ability to cover their aura or change their form ".
"Mister Ryou will advise you in my place. Protect our home brothers. I'll be going now". Raygen stood up immediately and went to the medical ward.
"Take these and activate it a meter away from the shield formation. These are smoke bombs. Go now and wait for me there. I have a plan to destroy those shitheads."
"Yes, sir" the generals went out and did their jobs.
After handing them smoke bombs, Ryou finally chased after Raygen and to undo his magic.
{Red Rib Town}
"Are we good to go?" Matt Meltor asked his subordinates.
"Yes, my lord."
"Then, let's go. Open the gates and… set the course to Hopeful Light Town."
