Prologue: A Millennium and A Year

Anu 17, 1001 A.D.*

On one of the hills of Bor, there were two kids chasing butterflies on this early morning. They were wearing somewhat ragged clothes as the town is not that well off. Farmers, the town is filled with such. This bliss seems to show the simpleness of the place, but out from the prying eyes of the gossipers in town, to the northern great river called the Yudi's Stream an endless formation of footmen have begun to march, on towards the lonely town of Bor. Their jade armors embedded with mana stones have rather made the strong pressure of the great river useless as their boots have enabled them to walk on water. The runes around their boots have slowly decayed the gems on their armors, but not a single one of them cared. The half-kilometer wide river didn't pose any threat to the metalwood* army of the Jade Empire. Slowly they walked on the raging waters.

The carefree children from earlier looked towards these invaders with fear. As they've been told of the ones infamous intruders that comes and goes like a wildfire clad in white jade, with them massacres upon massacres have been credited upon. Hence, it is not an exaggeration to say that these armies are the death angels of the Empire. The bad news of Mu.

"White... Flame." Uttered the young boy with a shaky tone. His entire being has never felt fear before, but this time his heart pumped fast as a horse runs on the flattest terrain. His legs are seaweeds making him fall without any energy to keep him straight.

"We must warn the elders." The other boy said something of worth, but his feet have kept him in place as a sturdy tree, but this was not of courage but rather of utter defeat. For he knew that their simple town couldn't even fend off a hundred of these rune-covered soldiers, and only the nearby border patrol could help them, except that the nearest encampment was actually a few kilometers away, and not even the strongest horse could run fast to convince the garrison.

*********

This event that happened in the lonely town of Bor was not an isolated disaster. As on the wide receiver screens from the fontalas* of the whole nation a young man clad in white while seated on a great marble throne can be seen. Although the place the man was on couldn't be clearly behold, his words can be sharply heard. As he uttered a few words that could tumble the whole continent of Mu upside down.

"To everyone who lives in the Sultanate of Sashwin, I, the 264th Jade Emperor, Xin Tai have declared war on your lands. Surrender or die."
