Later on, the Vampire King came back with a grin on his face. He went to his throne and shared a look at his Queen and kissed her cheeks. I felt something, more like a soft pang on my chest at their affection. That small gesture reminded of something that I should have. Well, I got a long way to find mine.
The first strike of the music brought me out of my thoughts. The dance has begun. Mom and Dad got up and went to the dance floor with smiles on their faces like teenagers getting on their first dance. I smile at that. Almost thirty years of marriage, their affection to each other is still the same as the day they met each other. That's what soulmates suppose to be.
"-ve this dance, Milady?" A familiar voice said on my left.
I saw Xavier bowed a little with his right hand reached out to my sister. A frown appeared to my face at the same time I heard a snort coming from Gavin. I cleared my throat. This brought Xavier's attention to me. The bastard just smiled at me then returning his gaze to my sister.
"I'll be honored, Your Highness." Alexia answered with a smile. I don't know if it is a good thing that Xavier asked Alexia first than other females out there just because he was his cousin or maybe they are up to something. Since when the two of them together, they always leave a lot of mess and destruction. I sighed.
Alexia got up and went to face me. "Don't worry, brother. I promise we'll be on our best behavior tonight."
"You better be." And off they go in the sea of couples dancing. I got up too but heard my Gavin.
"Where are you going?" Gavin asked. He sounded so bored.
"Nowhere. I'll just go at the back to observe."
"Okay." He nodded with no plan of getting up.
I went at the back near at the large windows with wine in my hand. I stood at the nearest column leaning at my back with my gaze at the people dancing. A little while I noticed some females never leaving their eyes at me. I ignored them, not planning to ask any female soon.
At my third glass of wine, a loud voice rung in the ball room.
"Sorry for the interruption ladies and gentlemen, Please welcome Princess Minerva Luciella De Luca and Wyatt De Luca."
The double door opened wide revealing two people. Princess Minerva held my attention the moment she entered the room, not just mine but everyone at the ball room too. My heart pounded at her sight. The people parted and she walked the red carpet, head held high knowing the attention that she got.
When she reached her families, they had a short conversation and later on King Chrysander formally introduced them.
"My beloved guest. I present to you my sister, Princess Minerva. She just came back from a two decade stroll along with a little surprise. Let's give her a warm welcome."
Laughters arise across the room followed by a several of applauses. Princess Minerva had a wicked smile at her face. She waved at the people. She went to face the crowd giving them a warm smile. As she scanned the room, my eyes never leave hers. A part of me wants to be noticed already, wanted her eyes to meet mine.
My prayer was probably heard the moment her beautiful mismatched eyes met mine. My heart pounded against my chest feels like it would burst at any moment but it was gone as soon as I felt it. I expected that my foot would be tapping the floor already, a sign that I was nervous, giddy, or excited. But none. In fact, I was calm. Not the calm before storm. But the kind of calm as a result of peaceful mind.
A smile.
I don't know but for some reason, a smile was almost like a foreign action in my face. If ever Xavier caught this, he might be worried as if I'm having a fever. Her eyes lowered at my lips and then a smirk appeared on her beautiful face. Her black and red eyes shoned with promises.
Her eyes snapped away from mine, I assumed someone called her but that action made my body cold. I know what cold feels like but this kind of cold made me realize how I was alone all my life. Not even my own family can cure this coldness. But she can. I know that for sure.
She walked to mingle to the guest but my eyes stalked her, anywhere she goes. At that moment my mind set into something, more specifically on someone. My feet moved forward, going into the direction of the woman who hel my utmost attention.
I didn't realize someone was calling my name until a hand stopped at my chest. I looked at the hand and went to its owner. I saw Xavier looking at me with raised eyebrow.
"Xavier."
"Gabriel."
I nodded at him and went to continue on my way. But he stopped me again.
"Hey. Hey. What's wrong?" He voiced his concern.
"What do you mean?" I answered. My eyes were still on set Princess Minerva talking to a female elder.
"Well, you look like someone sit your ass on fire. Finally, some female caught your eye?" I forced myself to meet Xavier's eyes full of teasing.
"No. Yes, my destined one." I answered him short before tapping his shoulder and continued on my quest. I know when I turned my back I would probably see a shocked faced Prince. I smirked at that thought.
Few minutes later, finding my way at the sea of couples dancing, making my way to the one I wanted to have a dance forever. I was couple of steps away when she probably felt my presence, her gaze met mine for the second time. I took a couple of steps and then gave my best bow and reached out my hand.
"May I have this dance, My Princess?"
I now have her full attention.
A soft voice spoke. "I'll be honored, My good sire." Soon, I expected a cold hand onto mine but a soft warm hand accepted my awaiting hand. I stood straight immediately finding her eyes.
I smiled. I gave a lingering kiss on the top of her hand. "It is my pleasure, My Beautiful Fair Lady." I then swept us into the dance floor.
My right hand held hers while my other hand went to her soft curves into the small of her back, our bodies flashed at each other. I could moan at the soft tingling where our hand kept contact. I heard her sigh.
"What's wrong?" I murmured softly at her. Her eyes looked up into mine then a warm smile appeared on her smile. I could feel my lips copies hers.
"Nothing. It's just that now I understand what others had been saying when they meet their destined ones. You feel calm, complete and spiritually satisfied." She answered with an awestruck face.
My heart skipped a beat at the sight. Before I could stop myself. I kissed her forehead, "I felt them too." I whispered as I hug her.
