Chereads / Priestess Of The Land / Chapter 70 - A Blind Fool

Chapter 70 - A Blind Fool

Upon seeing the large majestic wings on God Hoth's back, the emperor no longer felt like being the ruler was a big deal. He could clearly feel the power vibrating inside the hall, and he knew that if God Hoth as so well wished, his empire could become dust at the snap of his fingers. Emperor Chen no longer cared about the life of one official, whatever Ra Ashir was capable of, someone else could too; his empire was more important.

"Your Majesty!" cried out the prime minister, however, he did not even get a glance from the emperor.

Ra Ashir was devastated, even the emperor could not help him, his fate was sealed, and he was going to die. His thoughts were going through his mind as fast as he was losing consciousness from Hoth's pressure.

"I'll tell you! I'll tell you! Please spare me, I knew who killed her," he finally cried out in despair, his life could not end just yet, he said to himself.

God Hoth let go of him and watched his body slumped on the ground as Ra grasped for air. However, he was not that benevolent, with one powerful kick after another, Ra's body was full of broken bones and internal injuries. Hoth walked over to Ra's body and stomped over his chest.

"Start talking!" he ordered.

Cough! Cough! Cough!

Blood sputtered out from Ra's mouth as he choked. Never would he have imagined his ending to be as such. He was terrified and did not want to give up yet.

"I knew...I knew she was poisoned...but there was nothing I could do...it was either her or the mother of the future empress," he stammered in fear and ended up telling the whole truth.

What truly happened was he chose his main wife over his second wife. Madame Ashir knew she was falling out of favor with Ra back then, and so she threatened him of leaving and taking Nala with her. For an aspiring official such as Ra, who had a lot of ambitions, of course, he would choose power. He abandoned Elaine and let Madame Ashir mistreat her to death, and even their daughter was not safe. If it wasn't because the poison fed to Elaine while she was pregnant was not effective enough, Tria would have not been born, and the fact that she was mentally ill is what kept her alive.

Lord Aten's eyes grew redder and redder, the more he listened. The pain he felt in his chest was devouring him inside out, he was immensely infuriated. So was God Hoth, although he seemed calm on the outside, he was also angry. Angry at humanity's nature and their endless greed, the same kind of people who murdered his beloved back then.

"I want to kill you, but I won't," God Hoth said slowly.

Ra Ashir was overjoyed that he will be able to keep his life, and figured it was because of Nala.

"That's right! You can't kill me, I am the father of the future empress! No matter who you are you will have to kneel in front of me in the future!" he bawled incessantly.

"I wasn't wrong when I said you were impudent, the emperor had already annulled your daughter's marriage and yet you still shamelessly want to claim that role. Also, the reason why His Majesty had spared you, was not because of your pissy daughter, but because of my beloved niece Tria."

Tria! Ra's heart thumped! That's right, how could he have forgotten about her? If they were to kill him, Tria would blame them. Ra started scheming again as he laid still bathing in his blood. It was too late to regret Elaine's death and the potential she had for his advancement in power, but he still had Tria. She was the daughter of the Lady of the Moon, him as her father would raise his status to the sky! He smirked like a fool, showing his teeth washed in blood, forming a creepy picture.

The crowd was appaled at Ra's stupidity. His expression was obvious to all, and they could tell what he was up to. The emperor shook his head at him and had totally given up on him.

Hoth's foot was still on Ra's chest, and he remembered that fact when Hoth pressed even harder as he bent over and closed in on his face.

"The only thing you have ever done was to give birth to such a woman, I originally wanted you to witness her glory but I changed my mind. You do not deserve to see her brilliance!" God Hoth whispered to him, then his flesh melted, revealing his true image.

His body was as bright and as radiant as the moon, and as calm as the night sky. Ra was dumbstruck over his sublime beauty and was numb to the pain his eyes were experiencing as darkness shrouded over him.

Goth Hoth went back to his human form, and started walking out of the throne room, Lord Aten followed behind, but before he left, he gave Ra Ashir some hope of recovery.

"You were already a fool, but a blind fool is quite the handicap. Since I am a very compassionate person, I'll tell you what, if you seek the Priestess and she's willing, she will be able to heal your eyes."

With that, the throne room became silent.

The emperor left as the guards brought Ra away, and he was thinking about Lord Aten's last words. If the priestess was to show up, Ra Ashir would be the last person he'd give the opportunity to meet her. His empire had to thrive and marrying her down to the heir is what he should do. After all the priestess was till his subject, decreeing a marriage on her was still his right.

Meanwhile, Ra Ashir really was grateful to Lord Aten for the suggestion, however he could not help but feel uneasy. Would the priestess not heal his eyes if he offered her fortunes? Climbing back to power was not hard as long as he latched to the next heir, but his eyesight would have to be recovered. Afterward, it would not be too late to mend relations with the Moon Land, such powerful figures had to be on his side, never would he have imagined of ever meeting a God!

That night, schemers were using their skills to the highest of their capabilities, and the priestess gain additional annoying pursuers.
