Before she could reply to his questions, the operating room's door opened…
The doctor in a white gown walked out of it slowly.
Although it was a minor surgery which did not last long, they still looked tired.
"Doc, is my friend alright?"
"Doc, the child—is the child alright?"
The pair seemed to be anxious about two different things.
As the woman's thoughts were all on her best friend, she did not notice the oddity in his statement.
At these two different questions, the doctor removed his mask.
"The patient's condition is now stable, but…" The doctor looked at the man with pity and sympathy.
"But what?" The pair spoke at the same time.
"The lady's child may be lost." The doctor then lightly patted the dazed man on his shoulder comfortingly. "You guys are still young. There's still hope of conceiving a child again."
"The child… may be lost…"
