Lance walked down the halls of the dragon king's domain. The walls filled with cravings lit by oil lamps. Aaron stopped as he turned to Lance, "Lance, I want you to only to talk when given permission to do so. Please don't speak out of turn."
Lance stepped forward as his grandfather placed his hands on the doors. "Grandfather, how will I know if I am able to speak? I don't want to go in blindly. If you could offer some wisdom?"
Aaron sighed as he looked over at Lance, "You will know when it's your turn. Just be cautious as Fafnir is not as reasonable as I."
Aaron opened the doors, allowing them entrance. Lance followed Aaron as the sound of scales rubbing along the stone sent shivers up Lances body. Aaron kept walking until they reached two post lamps. They lit up revealing a large dark scaled dragon staring at them.
"Aaron, tell me why have asked for my audience?" Fafnir growled. Bearing his fangs at them.
Aaron knelt down, Lance fallowed suit as he looked at his grandfather. "My Lord, I have come to ask you to join the inter-kingdom allegiance. Just as Gregson has before."
Fafnir raised his head rearing flames in his mouth, "Why should I join them? What reason do we have to join this petty war?"
Lance glanced at his grandfather as he stood up. "Your majesty, the Faremin are becoming bolder as they reached the border village of Vahalin, just over ten days ago. I humbly ask—"
"Enough!" Fafnir roared; Lance stared at him filling with rage. "This is not our concern! We shall not get involved. Unless—"
"unless what? The death of thousands of dragons and dracoman alike?" Lance stood up yelling at Fafnir.
Aaron stared in horror as Lance. "Boy, I—"
"How dare you! You know nothing but pettiness for something that is—" Fafnir bellowed but stopped as he stared into Lance's eyes.
"Look I might not know much in how things work here but as the Ren-Ky of freedom. I cannot stand people who sit around and do nothing. Vahalin was destroyed, where the Faremin infiltrated the Grand Dale kingdom. The people there died, and that could have easily been your own!" Lance growled are him. "Besides, I know Lady Lunatica is doing what she can to stop this war! I might not know where she is, but I know she is trying to stop more bloodshed and stop Demora from becoming…" Lance took a deep breath, "Becoming a god."
Aaron grew pale as he tuned to Fafnir, "I am so sorry your majesty. Please forgive my—"
"Silence!" Fafnir growled, as he turned his attention to Lance. "Boy, are you saying that Lunatica is alive?"
"Yes," Lance answered, "She is. She about twenty-one to twenty-two years of age. Meaning in four to three years Demora will have lost the battle of keeping out of the picture. Plus, all of the Ren-Ky's—including myself and Scarlett—are getting ready to strike Demora down."
Fafnir transformed into his human form and walked up to Lance. "What is your name boy?"
"Lance."
Fafnir smiled at him, "Well, Lance, if you are telling the truth them prove it but bringing forth your Ren-Ky weapon?"
Lance closed his eyes and focused. A faint green glow erupted from underneath his shirt. As his glaive appeared beside him. Lance grabbed it and held it in front for Fafnir to look at. Fafnir touched the blade, glancing over all of the details.
My, my, your blade is quite beautiful. It reminds me of Ore's." Fafnir spoke admirably towards Lance.
"King Fafnir, if I may who is Ore?" Lance asked.
Fafnir smiled, "The first Ren-Ky of wind, but let us discuss the matter of the alliance?"
Aaron stared at Fafnir, "Wait you mean to say…?"
Fafnir nodded at Aaron. "Yes, we shall join as I believe this time it will be a successfully endeavor." Lance was lost for words as Fafnir stared at him. "Young Lance do not be so surprised you are the one who was able convince me. As I have been waiting for someone with more spine as to take a bit at me."
Fafnir grinned as he touched Lance on the shoulder. "Besides, we now know Lunatica is alive and well. I hope to aid her in any way I can. As she was once my own daughter."
Lance snapped back. "Wait, your daughter was Lunatica?"
Fafnir nodded. "Yes, Ore was her half-brother. He died shortly after she was killed. Demora has ways as to find her. But to think she has evaded him over these years is astonishing to say the least. Come we shall talk over lunch. Aaron go and gather this Scarlett, as I wish to speak with the both of them."
Aaron bowed as he left stunned at Fafnir's demeanor. "Um, lord Fafnir—"
"Just Fafnir is fine. I am betting you are wondering why I am so calm about all of this and will to help. That is due to the fact that I made a vow over fifty thousand years ago. Long before became king."
"Oh, I... see? What was this vow?" Lance asked cautiously.
Fafnir sighed heavily, "When I was no older than you, Ore and I were friends and family after I fell in love with his mother. When Asyel hatched Demora attacked without warning. After she was killed, I made a vow to the gods that I would not die until Demora was stopped and Lunatica was saved. This has allowed me to live passed my prime as well as halt my aging."
Lance turned away, "Oh, I see. Yet why did you wait this long? Surely you could have stopped him yourself?"
Fafnir shook his head at Lance, "Lance, Demora cannot be killed by conventional means. As only a Ren-Ky can stop him. But I believe the time is now as we are to ready ourselves for this impending battle of epic proportions."
Lance nodded in agreement as Scarlett entered the room, "Lance, master Aaron filled me in on what just happened."
"Scarlett this is—" Scarlett punched him hard in the head, "Ouch! What was that for?"
"You are a fool you know that? Not even heeding your Grandfather words. Honestly." Scarlett scolded. Fafnir started to laugh as Scarlett stared at him as if he were insane. Lance could not help but join him as Scarlett stood dumbfounded watching them. "What just happened?"
Fafnir wiped a tear away, "Sorry, but I just could not help myself. To be honest Lance did the right things when he was talking to me with Aaron. Everyone within my kingdom think that I am some malevolent person that is hard to reason with. Yet as you can see, I am not."
Lance smiled at her, "Yes, besides, you know that I can de stubborn with authority figures that I am closer to, like the fact my of my grandfather. I could not stand how Fafnir was acting. Yet as the same time I felt as if he was testing my temper."
Scarlett narrowed her eyes at him. "Really, you are some piece of work, but anyway. What am I here?" She ask promptly.
Fafnir nodded, "Yes, I speak of that during our meal. Come."
