Chapter 98 - Larl 27th - Shadow

Hans walked up to the gate of Grandia; he looked around to find his opportunity to enter. The guards stood at their posts with a stern footing, as they checked every person entering and exiting the capital. Hans gritted his teeth as he noticed they also guarded the sewer ways and other breaches in the walls.

"Dam it, when did this happen?" Hans asked himself.

He noticed the old burnt down house that he was left to die in, was cleared out with a statue of him standing it its place. Hans felt sick as he stared at it. An older man walked up to the figure.

"Poor soul, they searched for their friend's body for days but never found it, the King and his retainer must be grieving soon?"

Hans blink as he looked at the older man. "What do you mean, good sir?"

Hans felt like throwing up as he said those words. The older man turned to and smiled softly.

"You see, years ago, the king had a friend who died here. I don't know his name, but he and his other friend came here with some guards searching for his body to put his soul at rest. Hoping there was no ill will between them. The kingdom now celebrates his passing as a reminder of what the Faremin are capable of."

Hans grit his teeth, 'Was Vann wrong? No! Vann has never lied to me, yet he might not have told me everything. For even he never saw what truly happened. Besides, they never found my body, and now I can get revenge for abandoning me. I was a fool to become his friend. Logan might have been the one to set me up for all of this?'

Hans turned to the gates. "Hey, sir, do you know how I could get in the castle without raising suspensions?"

The old man stroked his beard, "Let me think the only way that is not guarded is the old escape route to from the castle. But no one knows where its located?"

Hans smiled as he turned to the older man. "Thank you for your information." Hans stabbed the older man before walking away and cleaning his blade as he whistled for his pets.

The entrance was covered in thick vegetation as Hans freed the access. He opened the door and whistled for his hounds to enter. They move swiftly down the corridor ahead of Hans. Hans got in as he closed the door behind him, where he met up with his dogs.

"Good boys, now I need you to cause a distraction as I find what I am looking for. Do not kill or attack, just keep the guards busy, Okay?"

They wagged their tails with soft bark. Hans opened the door into the castle and let them run wild. Hans closed the door waiting for the men to give chase.

"What the—Why are there dogs running loose?"

"It doesn't matter. We need to catch them before someone gets hurt!"

Hans grinned as he listened for a while before entering the castle and headed towards the royal safe. Hans checks every corner before coming upon the safe. He looked around to see two guards standing as the entrance.

"Dam it, they're going to be a problem, I wish Vann sent someone else now like Erin over me."

Hans felt a chill as if someone were coming towards him when a spear whooshed by his face. Hans jumped to the side as he pulled out two daggers. The man pulls his spear back, Hans recognized the man. It was Eledon, Hans smiled as he looked at him.

"Well, well, if it isn't Eledon?" Hans sneered.

Eledon looked at Hans, oblivious to who he was. "I don't know how you got in Faremin scum, but you won't leave here alive!"

Hans smiled in glee as he touched his face, "So you don't recognize me. How sad and here I thought you would know me, old friend?"

Eledon shifted his weight. "Friend, I think not—" Eledon noticed something off about him. "No…Hans?"

Hans stood up and licked his dagger, "Now you remember me, you abandoned me that day to die, and the Faremin saved me within hours of me dying. I was under that rubble, and you a Logan ran like cowards."

Eledon began to step back as his confidence began to dwindle. "We search for days, pulling the rubble off slowly as to not have the whole place collapse on your body. Yet here you are now, a traitor to your kingdom. You have fallen far."

Hans stared at Eledon before striking. Eledon tried to block his attack, but Hans's attack landed deep into his side. Hans pulled back as Eledon gripped his wound. Hans rushed in for another attack when Eledon dropped his spear a grabbed a sword form the armour beside him. Blocking Hans advance.

Hans smiled as he flipped and stuck Eledon in the shoulder. Eledon gritted his teeth as he felt the blade pierce his skin. Hans landed and went in for the killing blow. Eledon dodged as blood spilled across the stone floor. Hans could tell Eledon was hindered by his first attack. He smiled and whistled.

Eledon confused readied his battered body and charged Hans. He cried out as the men came running but could do nothing as Hans hounds sunk their teeth into Eledon's neck and body. Hans then ordered his some his hound onto the men. Killing them.

Eledon, barely clinging to life, watched as Hans entered the vault. And took what he was after. He then went over to Eledon and leaned over to ear.

"To bad you both weren't here, or else this would have been ten times more fun to kill you both."

Life began to fade from eEledons eye's as Hans gloated above him. The sound of gunfire caught his attention as it hit Eledon. A blast of light emitted from the bullet, and Eledon felt life return to his body. Hans turned to see a cloaked man wearing a wolf mask standing in the archway. Holding a strange handgun covered in dragon scales, smoking at the barrel. Hans gritted his teeth as he looked over to see Eledon's wound healing. His eyes widen as he turned to the man but found he was nowhere. He looked around, unable to see where he went.

"Looking for someone?" Hans turned around as the man took the stones off him. "sorry, but you will not be needing these."

Hans went to take back the stones when the man teleported him back to the faremin castle grounds. Hans stood shocked that there was someone that powerful out there. Vann walks over, huis face confused on how Hans was back so soon.

"Hans, how did you get back so fast and do you have what I asked of you?"

Hans screamed in anger as he turned to Vann, "No, I had them and almost had Eledon killed. But this cloaked man wearing a—what I think is a wolf's mask came out of nowhere and somehow healed him with a gunshot! Then toyed with me before taking the dam stones and teleporting me here!"

Vann went pale, "Wait, you mean someone way able to take the stones and have a weapon that I have no knowledge about? That's not possible? What kind of gun fires bullets that heal?"

Hans shook his head. "We better report this person and find him before he messes up any more of our plans. I think he is our top priority. Have Azoth and Erin return at once. I will set up the next meeting with Lord Demora."

Vann nodded and sent out the message to them as Hans went to Demora to tell him what had happened.
