Lana woke up from her own growl. She hated being woken before the time, so the annoying knock at six in the morning, obviously provoking her to commit a crime. With a displeased grunt, she rose and staggered to the door, picking the best choice to deal with an uninvited guest.
Apparently, she was not the only one who was woken by this person with a death wish. The open doorway was already obscured by the impressive figure of her son in pajama pants. Vicki was standing next to him, rubbing her eyes, also in her pajamas, not just black as Nicky's, but with cute gray seals all over it.
" Mom," - seeing Lana, Vicki immediately left her post and went to her. - "There are some people here. They said that they came to pack our things. Nicky tried to drive them away, but they refuse to leave. They say they have an order."
Lana froze inside. How can they be kicked out? Why? She always paid rent regularly and on time, and they behaved decently.
Calmed Vicky with a soothing touch on a shoulder, Lana headed for the door. Nicky reluctantly stepped aside, letting his mom out. On the outside balcony stood three men in uniform jackets of the transportation service. Two huddled behind, diligently looking away, apparently already tasted the wrath of Nick, when woken up earlier. One more guy was still standing his ground under piercing gaze of Nicky - must be a hard nut to crack. Nick continued to drill this guy with his stare but the man, though slightly paled, didn't give up.
"I'm sorry, but you'll have to let us in, no matter what. I have a personal order from the CEO himself. VGARM corp owns both this building and our moving company." - Probably not for the first time tried to persuade Nick, the braver worker. After seeing Lana, he decided to change his aim to her, like seemingly easy prey.
" Miss, I ask you to explain to your young man that he is interfering with the performance of our work."
" And by what right have you decided that you can touch and especially transport our personal belongings? We have an official rent contract. We live here legally, and no one warned us about anything." - Lana entered the dispute, still trying to understand what's going on. It all looked like some kind of scam.
" Your building was only recognized as in emergency conditions yesterday, and all tenants will be relocated as soon as possible. Here, in these documents, everything is spelled out. You are not kicked out to the street. We simply resettle you. And for free." - Said the man, shaking in front of Lana some documents. She intercepted the records and began to read them. It looked all official. Each paper was sealed and signed. But Marge recently told her about all sorts of scams and falsifications that simple townsfolk came across often. While she was looking through the documents on the balcony, they were joined by a woman from the next apartment. At first, she only listened, but when she heard that they would evict everyone, she decided to join the squabble. With her voluptuous thighs she pushing through two cowardly workers, and confronted the one that stood opposite Niki:
" You dare to fool us like this? I'm not going anywhere! I've been living here for 20 years! I know my rights. I am sure, you will pack all our things and take them to the slums, into some garbage hole, and then you'll set up a golf clubs here."
The man looked around doubtfully. Then he again looked at his new opponent, apparently questioning either her eyesight or her sanity.
"Ma'am, with all due respect, that's the biggest garbage hole in the slums. I'll have to try really hard to find a worse place than this, " - he said cautiously. The woman choked on her anger. After a moment, she, however, managed to find her voice, and what Voice! Simultaneously, everyone cowered down at her squeal. But it was not the end. After the wild cry followed an endless stream of curses, some were so brilliant that Lana tried to remember it for future reference. She didn't know some words, but they sounded quite fears. Thanks to this commotion a whole crowd of neighbors gathered on the balcony and under it in a couple of minutes. As a real general, this fierce woman stood by the fence and began to spurt a mess. Lana wanted to gawk at this mayhem a little more.
But there was no time to lose. Carefully slipping back into the apartment, Lana dragged Nicky in too and locked the door. Vicky was bouncing beside anxiously.
"Mom, what's going on? Why are they kicking us out? We have already paid for this month, right?" - Looking at Lana with her big blue eyes, asked Vicki. Lana stood leaning her back on the door and was trying to analyze what was going on. They did not have money for a new apartment and had nowhere to go.
"They can not just kick us out like that! They had to warn us, and not just come in the morning with boxes. I'm sure it's some kind of fraud." Nick finally said through clenched teeth. His face was pale, and his pupils were slightly thinner than human ones. Lana realized with concern that his son was barely restraining his shift. For young wolves, it was tough to control the beast. And, at first, the beginning of the change could be determined by the eyes. The person could still stop the turn at this moment. But if the jaw and claws began to transform on the hands, then it's almost impossible to stop the shift for the young shifter.
Lana took her son by the hand and led him to the kitchen, sitting him on a stool near the table.
" Nicky, calm down, I'm sure everything will be resolved. We know that VGARM Corporation manages all of these, all documents were signed on behalf of the General Director. I'll just go and find out everything there. They have to explain everything or at least tell us where they will move us. And you stay here and do not let anyone inside. I'll call the school to notify them of your absence."
Nick wanted to start protesting, but Vicki interrupted him:
"Mom, what is the name of the general director of this corporation?" asked Lana's daughter with a strange expression. Lana only shrugged her shoulders.
" I didn't really pay attention. But the corporation has only one CEO, right? It shouldn't be so hard to find him." - Lana said thoughtfully, thinking about the plan of action ahead.
" OOOOhhkey. Know what? Perhaps you are right. I'll help you choose what to wear. After all, it is a large corporation, it is necessary to look presentable." - Vicky chattered, not allowing Nick to insert a word, pushing her mother out of the room and skillfully maneuvering her towards the bedroom.
