Chereads / A Painful Truth (Dropped) / Chapter 2 - They're Better Than Me

Chapter 2 - They're Better Than Me

The place started to reform. One by one changes happen, from their original state they turn into another form, including the living beings. The classrooms in the hallway changed, from an ordinary classroom to a room full of liquid-dispensing-machines. The students watching also changed, from being a normal and healthy looking student they turned into disgusting folks; looking like those weird people in the night- drinking alcohol and smelling like they came out from the trash. And let's not forget our challenger here, His appearance changed as well, and as what I expected to be- wearing a crown made out of gold on his head, having a red cape at his back and being half naked. Disgusting, everything here is just disgusting. I could just vomit here, right now.

"Come on, let's not let the audience waiting." he arrogantly said. His piercing looks disgusts me more. His grin as well is just too much, he thinks he's so awesome?

Talking so proud like that, it really suits your appearance. Your arrogance just makes you look more like a celebrity freak. Getting satisfaction from the shouts of the students... no, the crazy maniacs who takes a liking towards other people's misery and pain. Just a good pair.

I try to back myself from this mess, but these freaks pushed me back to the front. I have nowhere to go and no other options left. I turned around to face him. I was ready to fight, but when I looked at his face, I can tell that I looked pathetic earlier just from looking at his expression. He became more confident seeing me trying to run away from him earlier. That made a change to him again. Little by little he started to grow bigger in size. He was so high that my neck hurts to look at him face to face. I swallow my saliva and wonder to myself 'How am I going to face this... nonsense'

While I was adrift by my thoughts, a voice suddenly came to my ear, "Here's a fist, loser!"

I was shocked by the surprise and in response, forced my arms to block his enormous punch. Did that hurt? Definitely.

Bearing the pain, focusing only to my objective. My eyes took a peek by the side of my crumbled defense. My eyes widened, he's coming for another blow. Curses! I can't take another hit like this. He's coming fast. My mind already calculated, I'm not gonna be able to dodge it in time. Knowing this, I resorted to my fate and stood straight like a brave knight with high hopes that I survive this impact.

Maybe luck was with me. When it seemed like there was no hope, a miracle happened. My eyesight came back to normal, your everyday life that you see. I was relieved. But wait, is the battle haven't started yet? But I thought we already did.

I inspected my perimeter. Now I understand, so this is what it looks like the other way. When I was in my curse, people were mocking me and calling me names. So in response, the curse showed myself being punched, crumbling and shattered into pieces. Their words hit me hard, hurting the victim, which is me.

Why was it like that? I'm not weak to words. They're just mere words. I never cared about others thoughts before. But why? Why did the curse showed that to me? I'm not... scared by their words... am I? No, I'm not. Maybe it was something else? Brush it off! I need to focus.

The boy has been grinning at me now. And everyone keeps on cheering at him. Can I beat him? He's not your average student. He has a gang, everyone looks up on him. Unlike me. I'm your weird background character. And I'm always by myself. My words are like curses of witches. I'm a weirdo. Who wants to talk to weirdos. Probably crazy street walkers drunk in the middle of the night.

"You know, I'm bored right now. Let's get this match starting already!" and thus he threw a punch at me with his energy as strong as he shouts.

Now the battle actually begins. I dodged his attack and countered it with a punch of my own. I hit him in the face on his left. He backed off while brushing his ached cheeks. He turned at me and muttered, "Heh, as expected from a boxer."

I try to console him, "Then I suggest you forfeit as you know the consequences of your current actions." But it was no use.

"Like HELL will I bow down to you!" he said, and he straight up did another try to land a fist on me.

I ducked down and slid to my left. As the battle was ongoing, my ears couldn't stop hearing their ear-sore cheers.

"Yeah, go get him tiger!"

"Show that crazy kid a lesson!"

I shook my head. 'Let's not get that in our way'

Our quarrel continued, and little by little I started to become weak. It's like I'm questioning if I could beat him, even though I know that he has no martial arts skills.

"Look at that loser. I beat he can't even beat him with his so called martial arts skills."

"Yeah, right."

'Shut up. Nobody wants to hear your opinion' A mistake made, I was too fixated to their talks. My moves became slow and an opening was exposed.

"Too slow!" he roars as his fist meet my flesh.

I screamed in pain and fell down to my knees. I can't stand this anymore! There's no use. 'He's much more better than me' I cried in my heart.

'What am I doing? I'm just a cripple. There's no use in fighting back, I'm nothing but a loser' I thought to myself as I bow to them.

"Heh! Loser!"

I was about to accept fate. But then I realized what the curse was showing me. It wasn't showing that I'm hurt by their words, it was showing me that I think and follow what they say. Making me weak and little. While they were more confident of themselves and resulting to the opposite. I thought to myself that I am weak, like what they say. Now I get it.

I stood back up in their laughter. My opponent was shocked, "Huh, you're back up, aren't you?"

And with a grin I replied, "Of course."
