Chereads / The Wings (Hiatus) / Chapter 5 - Mission 2

Chapter 5 - Mission 2

One Gram Lizard took the first move to begin their attack. As it dashed to him, Minato readied his stance and tighten the clench of his right fist.

The moment the lizard was near, he performed a wave dash followed by a strong uppercut to the lizard's face.

That ought to make it knocked out, but even he knew it wasn't enough.

Just as he about to land a finishing blow, two Howlers began their killing attempt.

One Howler charged as fast as it could with another Howler jumped, trying to take him down with a joined attack.

He clenched his teeth, growling in annoyance as he looked at his enemies.

"Okay, if that's what you want..."

He jumped to the Howler above him, grabbing its leg and thrown it to the ground, hitting the other Howler.

Not letting them to go back on their feet, he immediately dashed to his enemies and kicked them strong enough to launch them to the air.

As they were in the air and became dusts, he ran to another enemies who were waiting for him.

A Gram attempting to slash him, but he dodged it to its right side. Without letting it perform another attack, he punched its waist using his left hand followed with a strong knee attack to its stomach.

"GRRRAAAAAA!!"

Haven't finished yet, a strong right roundhouse kick landed on its head, dealing a finishing blow as the Gram got thrown away then vanished into black dust.

Turning his gaze immediately to his enemies, he saw the last Howlers already began running to him. Without waiting any longer he performed a wave dash and rammed his left shoulder to one of the Howlers. The attack directly sent it to the last Howler before they flew to the building on fire, burning them all.

The Gram who was about to be finished by him had stood once more, growling in anger as it smashing its weapon to its shield.

"Oh no..."

A black portal appeared in the sky. From it emerged another wave of monsters, just as he had expected.

One of Gram Lizard's ability was to call reinforcements. By hitting its weapon to its shield, he could call another monsters to aid the lizard. It was a dangerous ability coming from the monsters, especially if someone would fight it alone.

And he couldn't take it down first hand due to the interruption by the Howlers.

"Should've taken it down first before..." he sighed. "Oh well..."

The monsters were the same, but their numbers increased.

"Can't get enough for the night, can you?"

With roars as his respond, he clenched his fist as he shouted, "Come on!"

In a place not far from the fighting took place, a young man stood silently as he watched Minato fought the monsters alone. With one hand in his pants pocket, he showed a slight smile.

"That stance..."

Just looking at his eyes, there was two words that could describe the feeling he felt.

Excited and admiration.

With each move Minato pulled to his enemies, he was impressed at him.

"Still looking good, I see...Guess he hasn't worn down."

"What are you mumbling about?"

A young girl appeared before him.

Without looking at the girl, he fell silent immediately.

"Hey."

She called him again, and he looked at her eyes.

"What?"

With a sigh she responded, "What do you mean by 'what'? Suzuka's there! And the monsters---"

Her mouth suddenly shut tight when he put his index finger to her mouth.

"Look," he pointed to where Suzuka was. "She's fine. The monsters won't go to her as long as that person still fighting them."

Pushing his hand away she yelled, "But she's our friend!"

The tone of her voice and the look she gave, it was obvious she was worried.

But he kept standing still.

"I know. But really, I just want to see how he is going to take care of those monsters."

Hearing his respond, she clenched her teeth.

He knew she was angry and annoyed at him, but he already told her the reason and wanted to fulfill it.

As if he could read her mind, he immediately grabbed her hand.

She wanted to leave him and run to her friend, but she already got caught.

"Let go!"

He dragged her closer and embraced her, enough to silence her for the time being.

"Listen. I know you're worried, but if you go running like that, you'll gain the monsters attention. The moment their attention get to you, Suzuka's life is also in danger. You don't want that to happen, do you?"

She looked down, hands holding his shirt tight as she was uncertain whether to follow the man's advice or not.

"But..."

"I don't care if you don't believe me, but I'm feeling the same way as you do right now. The only thing we can do right now is to watch that man fighting those monsters, okay?"

She slowly gave a nod.

In truth, she didn't like it. All she wanted to do was to help her friend and take all the monsters down.

"Alright," the man mumbled, turning his gaze to Minato who was fighting the monsters. "Let's see if he can defeat them."

He knew he could go with the girl and help him, but like he had stated, he wanted to see how Minato would fight the monsters. Just to satisfy his desire, he lied to the girl.

He wasn't worried at all, because he knew the stance was called Dragon's Pride, a stance created by Minato that only he used it, was strong enough to defeat the monsters.

Also, it saved him the energy to not doing anything other than watching him.

'If you're really Minato, I know you can do it...'

"HAAAA!"

With a loud shout, Minato punched a Gram's face. The impact was strong enough to send it to a few Howlers, killing them instantly.

Continuing their struggle, two Howlers attempted to attack him from above. He saw this coming as he dashed forward to evade the attack.

After the attack missed, he wouldn't let his chance slipped by. A strong slash kick landed to one of the Howlers.

The kick sent it away to another Howler before both of them got flown away to the building, burning them.

In the midst of the moment, he was aware that one Gram was already near him for an attempt to one slash attack.

"Heyaaa!"

Clenching both of his fists, he executed the lizard with a left uppercut and a strong right thrust punch.

Another monsters had been taken care of.

As he took a breath, he looked around the area.

One last Gram Lizard remaining.

Once again, he sighed full of irritation.

He didn't take it down before the other monsters again.

"Please don't..."

A grin was the lizard's respond. Just by looking at its face he knew it would summon another monsters.

Like he had expected, the lizard did what he feared most.

It slammed its weapon to its shield, calling for another reinforcement.

A portal appeared behind the lizard.

However, what appeared after wasn't the same as before.

Step by step the monster took made the ground trembled.

"Oh oh..."

The monster stepped on Gram, killing it.

Then it growled loudly. Its growling was enough to make him to cover his ears.

"That is loud..."

Had finished its growling, the monster stared at him.

He stared back. A few seconds had passed, he looked at the size of the monster in front of him.

Having a height over than two meters tall, he couldn't help but to raise his head to look at the monster's face. Its muscular build covered by its dark grey fur, on its right hand it was wielding a large axe and on its left hand a metal shield. Its eyes were blood-red, with its sharp teeth he knew it was ready to kill him.

The monster was known as Razor Gram, a higher type of Gram which also known as the berserker of the Gram's type. It didn't care of its own subordinates or anything around itself, as long as it could fulfill its desire.

Normally its appearance was enough to threaten any living things that wanted to make a trouble with it.

"You're quite huge than I've had heard..."

To him, he had seen worst. For him to face a type like this, it wasn't shocking.

Readying his stance, he taunted his enemy with a slight smile.

"Grrraaaaaa!!" Razor replied his taunt with a roar.

The man who was watching silently looked more excited than before. To him, this was more than a rare sight to watch.

"Fighting the Razor with fists? Are you serious?"

He knew it would take more than just fists to take a Razor down. It would take at least a weapon to defeat it.

The girl with him titled her head. She too, knew it was futile to take it down without a weapon. However...

"But I know you can do it."

Hearing it from the man puzzled her even more.

Soon after, the fight began. Razor began the first attempt to strike him with its axe.

Swaying to its right, he dodged the attack and tried to kick it with a left roundhouse.

Razor jumped back to evade the attack. It was quick enough despite its large size.

"Guess you're not just a big sized monster, huh..."

After dodging the attack, Razor began to run to his position.

Then it began another attempt to take him down by swinging its axe randomly.

He took a careful glance at where the swing would go before he dodged all of its attacks by stepping to the attacks' blindside.

When it performed a full vertical swing, making its axe stuck on the ground, Razor's posture fell slightly off-balance.

Minato used the chance and went straight into a counter-attack.

A strong jab to its chest followed with a thrust punch landed on its face. He continued with a kick to its stomach and a left knee attack to its jaw.

After his successful counter-attack, he jumped back to gain some distance. His attacks might be overwhelming, but knowing its size, it didn't have any significant damage to the monster.

From his view, the monster didn't feel any pain from his attacks. Instead it showed a smirk before it began to run for another attempt.

Razor lifted its right hand while running.

He thought it was going for another random swing attacks, but he was wrong.

It didn't attack with its axe, but with its shield. Because of his miscalculation, he took a powerful bash attack which sent him to the ground.

"Agh!"

It might not really painful, but he couldn't help but to groan in pain.

Razor looked happy as it roared while smashing the handle of its axe to the shield.

Standing up, Minato prepared his stance once more as he commented on the currently joyful Razor.

"Is that all you've got?"

There was silence for a moment. The only sound that could heard were the sound of their breathing, the fire, and sirens.

It was kind of awkward for them, knowing they were in a fight to death.

"What is..." the girl spoke.

The man embraced her gave a smile.

"Seems like they're about to end it."

After a while, the tension suddenly getting tense.

Razor began roaring and charging to him for what it seemed to be its final attack.

"HAAAAAAA!!"

Minato ran to his enemy, wanting to end the fight.

As they were close to each other, Razor swung its axe for a strong vertical attack. Its attempt to hit him failed as he dodged the attack with a side step.

Although he dodged to its left side, he already prepared for what would come next.

The monster swung its left hand for another attempt to hit him using its shield.

"I won't let you!"

He punched its shield with his right hand. There was a struggle between him and its shield as they were pushing each other strengths.

"GROAAA!!"

"HAAAA!!"

Both letting a cry, increasing their force to their attacks.

For what it seemed to be a useless struggle, became a worthwhile attempt.

Razor's shield slowly cracked, making their eyes widened.

"You can't be serious...!"

Then the shield broke to pieces.

The girl was undoubtedly taken aback. She knew it would take more than just a fist to crack a Razor's shield, let alone destroying it. However, after looking at the situation by her own eyes, she just couldn't believe it anymore.

The man gave a sigh with a smile. He didn't look surprised at all, instead he seemed to know it would happen.

"I know you can do it."

Minato rushed immediately for a left uppercut to Razor's jaw. As he about to continue his attack, it raised its left hand immediately for a fast strike attempt to hit him.

He saw it coming and dodged it by crouching. Not going to let it attacking, he began his assault.

"Take this!"

He launched a strong uppercut to its left elbow, breaking it. Groaning in pain, Razor began to lose its balance, giving him another chance to attack.

"HAAAA!"

He aimed his right fist to its chest then directly punched it with all he had. Without a pause he punched it again with his left fist then an uppercut using my right fist to its face.

He managed to send it to the air. Charging his energy to his legs, he jumped to its back.

"It's over!"

He kicked its back strong enough to launch it to its axe.

As its whole body got pierced by its own axe, it roared as loud as it could before vanished into black dust.
