Chapter 3 - Sunbeams

My father was preparing to hit me. He had withdrawn the whip, staring at me. I held my right arm tightly. His eyes flashed with hatred. I was about to close mine waiting for the attack, when I noticed a light coming on. It grew stronger, brightening the whole place. And suddenly the tree fell apart, disappearing as if in magic, vanishing.

My father kept his eyebrows closed, but he did not let go of my arm, nor did he diminish the strength with which he held him. We both looked at the place where the tree once stood. And a mighty voice shrouded in white light said:

- Drop this whip.

There was no one there. Just the vigorous light. My father did not look frightened. He looked at the light and asked,

- Who's there?

From that direction a silhouette emerged. The silhouette became body. The body became a woman. And this woman stretched out her left hand toward us. My father began to squirm.

"Hey, what are you doing to me?" - he asked.

Her hand seemed to hold my father, but she was far away. He was visibly tight. Abruptly she closed her hand and directed it to the floor.

My father had been sucked into the earth. As if that target had control over him through his hand. Everything went very fast. The light dimmed. I sat on the grass, perplexed. The woman drew nearer to me. I could tell now that she was young. It should be somewhere between eighteen and twenty. He knelt and held my chin, said,

"Angel, you asked for help, now I'm here.

- Who are you?

"I'm a white fairy, my name is Alirian. You cried to the heavens help to get rid of the No Man. Here I am. I was sent to guide you in what you must do to destroy the spell that binds you.

- As well? What does that mean? I asked.

"I am one of the earliest known creatures. And I know how certain things work. One of them is this kind of charm. You're not the first ...

As she spoke she could not help noticing her candor and beauty. She was a fairy. I had heard of them, but I had never seen one. She had fair skin. Her hair was golden, slightly curly and very sparkling. In her head was a diamond tiara, like a princess's. His lips also glittered. A delicious smell of bromeliads came out of her invading the whole environment. And his eyes gave me peace and wisdom. It had no wings. She was beautiful.

- Are you listening to me? - He asked.

- Yes, yes, of course. What should I do? And what about my father?

"First, stop calling that fatherly spirit. Do not ever call him that again. He filled his head with lies. He put the books that interested him in front of him, all wrought. Second, he is trapped in the Sheol Dungeon. I was able to arrest him for three days. And you should start your journey as soon as possible.

- As well? What should I do?

"Do you want to break the spell?"

- Yes! Tell me how.

"Well, according to the spell you can not kill him, or say his real name."

- I know it.

- Because otherwise you would die with him simultaneously ...

"I did not know that."

"Do not interrupt me," Alirian said, standing up and pacing. "You're going to have to find the Silver Flute that's on the third exalted mountain in the Kingdom of Tanatus. But to get there you will first have to pass through the Vanity Grove and then through the Desert of Hope. Do not be seduced by the Mowers of Lust, which are in the Vanity Grove and not by Appearances, they are women who will try to deceive you, but you will have to use the Shield of Truth, it will protect you.

He followed me a little closer.

- Here. She was giving me a bronze shield. There was a picture of a six-pointed star in front of him. And inside it was written: Dei Sanctis. I put it on my back like one of those backpacks.

"In the Desert of Hope," she went on, "they will try hard to make you quit." Meanwhile proceed to your target. At the entrance of the Kingdom of Tanatus, there will be an arrow on the ground, close your eyes and in no way open them. Take about a hundred steps, but walk straight. Do not open your eyes.

I watched her speak and feared inside me. I would have to face it all to be free, but the Unnamed Man would find me, for sure.

- There you will find help to help you in the search for the Silver Flute. And one thing you should know is that the Unnamed Man did not create you. And what you have learned from the secular books does not compare with the knowledge you will have of yourself on this journey. The books expressed shadows and lies, but you will find pure truth. All your existence was written. And on the way you will be able to read all the chapters of your book. From the book of your life.

She said that and started to fade away. I heard his voice say almost fading:

- You are not alone. Here is a flower and a rock on the way ...

The darkness gave way to the first rays of sun ...
