Thanks to the abilities of the top Yaodu mercenaries and Shen Tianyu's negotiation abilities, Yaodu was the only organization permitted by the Crystal Spider race to obtain and sell their silk. Of course, since they had a monopoly on the legal market, they would not flood the market with this high-quality material, less it looses it's value. It is only occasionally that such silk is released into the markets and most of the time, it is sold by Lotus Pavilion. Naturally, the good quality stuff were kept by Yaodu and used for special clothing-like armor such as the pair of shoes Shen Tianyu was currently wearing.
