Chapter 3 - Chapter 2 : Looking for a new profession

Arthur got up from his bed and walked out of the infirmary ready to start the day. He already decided which job he was going to get. Other than warriors, cultivators could choose a few auxiliary professions. He had already picked which one he was going to practice.

Furthermore, the orphanage was linked to the Piercing Arrow Sect, in the mountain behind Woodhurst town. It was a sect in the middle of the lower faction so he could find a job easily as long as he willed it to. He had already known the one he was going to get before he even reincarnated: the blacksmith profession.

After leaving the orphanage, he went to the entrance of the sect in the mountain by walking up the stairs built along the mountain. No one recognized him as his appearance was just above average and he was just an orphan, not a disciple. His orphan blue orphan uniform was the proof of that.

He was stopped by the guards who looked at him coldly. But when they saw his uniform they let him in albeit, revealing contempt. After all, they were disciples and more powerful while the other side was just a dirty orphan without any background. Though displeasing, Arthur didn't really care about that.

They were just ordinary in his eyes and of course, he wouldn't waste his time on someone ordinary much less if they showed him contempt and disdain. As an orphan, he could only have access to the outer area of the sect where the outer disciples lived.

He went to the east wing where the blacksmiths could be founded. Right after turning to a corner he founded disciples working on pieces of ores on an anvil, some were cutting on metal with a chisel, some were already sharpening their swords. The Blacksmith facility was a rather big facility with an area of 400 m². He had to register in an office to the side.

When he went to the office after knocking he was surprised to find that there was no sound spreading inside from the blacksmith working with hammers, nor were there any smell. It was probably due to a "Sound and Smell Isolating Array" built around the facility. A middle-aged man was working on documents spread around his desk. He had to take orders from disciple and elders and register any disciples wanting to learn the art of blacksmithing.

"Good day sir. I would like to practice the craft of blacksmithing as my profession since I am 15 years old and my status is an orphan".

"Name." Said the middle-aged man without even lifting his head from the documents he was reading.

"Arthur Warton" Replied Arthur. He didn't reveal his real name as he didn't want any complication before being powerful enough.

the middle-aged man gave him a brief look then wrote his name on a piece of documents then gave him a note that he had to give to a blacksmith teacher.

"You will learn the craft from one of the blacksmith teacher working here. His name is Petrus. he will first test your talent. If you are not good enough you will only learn how to make tools for farming or mining "

"Thank you, sir." After getting the note, and getting the description of Petrus he left.

Petrus had an average look with dark hair and brown eyes. Arthur just walked up to him. this blacksmith was a disciple in charge of teaching students of the craft. He didn't have a lot of talents but he liked the profession so he was put in charge of teaching. He wasn't the only teacher nor was he the best or the worst but that was good enough for Arthur.

After greeting him Arthur passed him the note. Then Petrus led him to an anvil to test him. Petrus didn't have any expectation on Artur. Too many disciples tried to become good craftsmen but failed nonetheless. Furthermore, he didn't feel any cultivation from Arthur.

He was just a mortal. And indeed there was nothing special to Arthur. After picking up many ores and working on them he didn't see any good progress. But Petrus wasn't disappointed as it was within his expectations.

"I am sorry Arthur but will have to make tools for farmers or miners. Maybe if you are delicate enough I will teach you how to make utensil for kitchens"

Arthur wasn't too disappointed either as it was also within his expectation. But he had a trump card that would help him succeed.

"Please give me a chance Mr. Petrus. Give me a day and tomorrow I shall forge better blade than that."

"I am sorry but I don't have time to waste on a student with no talent. I do not see any potential in you. You are just like me or any other ordinary blacksmith without a lot of talent. Wasting a day more won't do anything" replied Petrus.

He didn't want to give any false hope to the student and telling him bluntly, instead of turning around the pot would help him more by finding other career choices.

"Are you willing to bet sir ?"

Petrus frowned. He was getting quite displeased of this student's attitude. He had already taken his time showing him the rope and even kindly explained to him why he wouldn't be able to do this. Still, this student insisted on wasting his time. But remembering his status as a disciple, even more, so a teacher he didn't want to fight against a minor character.

"Fine. If you think you can do this show me tomorrow. If you can form a proper blade or a decent arrowhead, I will apologize and even teach you all you want to know. If you can't even do that either don't bother coming back here or you will have to work for free for 1 year"

"I agree to this bet" replied Athur but inside he was smiling. He had a good impression of this character called Petrus. But if he had chosen Arthur as a good opponent, then he was deadly wrong.
