Darkness, cold and cries of agony filled the space everywhere. The only light was that provided by the stars, for the time they still shined, or the fire in the places that were set ablaze. But Akin tried before to come close to a medium fire pit and the blue sphere came out when he was no even too close yet, meaning the fire was dangerous, maybe more dangerous than his fall. Making things worst the fire didn't emitted any heat so Akin was deprived from light and heat having both just in from of him.
He didn't know how many time he spend walking nor where he was walking to. The stars in the sky seemed fixed, as if time was stopped here, the only visible change were those stars fading or appearing out of the blue. Every step Akin took was a fight, his body was nearly frozen, he couldn't stop trembling, most of his body was numb and just breathing was painful enough as to no wanting to do it again but he still moved forward. From time to time , he could had sweared ,he heard the sweetiest voice telling him to stop, calling him to rest.
Four day passed, maybe five, Akin wasn't sure, that was his own estimation , based in his perception, but it was still night. The stars remainded in the same place, he meant those which didn't faded yet, maybe day didn't exist here. Surprisingly he walked for five entire days without rest, his will didn't break neither his body did. Both were a feat on its own, the harsh condition of the enviroment were enough to make a person go crazy or die in no time, whatever happened first, and walking five day straight without water or food? Was that even humanly possible?
As he kept moving his attention was suddenly caught , some white speck of light was floating a some distance in front of him. It was something beween illusory and flimsy and seemed as if just a puff could blow it away. Akin felt attracted to that light and moved near to it, the blue sphere didn't activate so at least it wasn't a bad thing. He stared at it for a while before extending his left hand to hold it but as soon as his finger got in contact with the light he pass out. Even when he tried to avoided for the days before as he didn't knew the consecuences, he fell sleep for the first time since he came to Hell. In the sky while all the others star were dimming, slower or faster than the others, a tinny star, the only which light didn't darkened, acquired some more shine.
Akin awekened lazily,it was a while since the last time he slept so comfortable, his interior felt somehow warm. The hunger and thirst which bother him for the few past days disappeared, his mind calmed and even his body felt slighty less cold now. Whatever that light was, it was just miraculous, he wondered if it was a unique thing or there was more of them, if so, he would made search for them, his short term goal, as seemed it was the only path to his survival.
After starting his seek it didn't take long, little less than a day, before he found another white speck. He then made his conjecture as to why he ignored the existence of those light until yesterday, it was very simple, those lights seemed to originate from the fire, what he was trying to avoid all this time. The idea came from the fact that this, as the previous light, were relatively close to a burning area, this even a little more close but no close enough as to made dangerous for him to collected it. The same as when he touched the light for the first time he fell slept. It could be a problem if this became the norm, luckily there weren't any other living being in the zone, at least Akin hadn't seen any over the past week.
Akin waked up after a good rest, there was a sensation of satisfaction all over his body.He couldn't be sure but somehow he could felt the world outside better now. He could see a little further and detailed in the darkness, the wind and the cold felt vivid and even the never stopping wails were heard in the same fashion.
For his own luck his conjecture probe to be true, and soon Akin was hunting for those speck of light all over the area. Five years went as the passing wind, five years according to Akin perception. In these years Akin absorbed an unknown amount of those specks of white light, some more illusories, some more real, some more bigger, some more little. In those years the little star also grew shining and shining and even if his size didn't enlarge too much, now it shined with strong and firm light. The pattern didn't change too much at the beggining and right after touching one of those lights he would fell slept every time.As time passed he could touch the little ones and watch them disappear as absorbed by his skin, but nevertheless he would still felt sleep after touching the bigger ones.
But after five years the changes in his person were noticeable, he could felt everything in 50mts around, he could see perfectly in the darkness to maybe a hundred plus meters, he could now heard the cries in the air at the same time that the air's whistle and the cold that threaten with kill him once, now felt like a summer breeze. Wondeful changes indeed.
And thanks to his enhanced vision he could see it, inside a lake of fire, a gauzy figure like those he saw when he was falling, those who were always crying was dimishing quickly. His body started to lose outline and soon it was just a gauzy cloud, its size constatly shrinking. With its size, its coloration started to fade too, and just a few breaths it could fit perfectly inside a hand, its color, white. Then it started to float, moving with the wind, coming out from the fire.
- Who would have thought that were those things what kept me alive all this time?.- He felt puzzled at the scene.
While Akin was looking to the pacific drift of the white specks, a red cloud was shot out of the fire into his body. He kept watching the scene while a smile blossom in his face.
