"What the hell?" She already passed out again. "Well, that was a strange thirty seconds of consciousness." Naomi looked back, "What the hell was that about?" I shrugged, "Probably nothing." I looked out the back windshield. We'd been driving for around 5 minutes, and we hadn't even reached the edge of the city. The I could still hear ships coming into the harbor. I'd gotten used to hearing them, hell, for the first nights I had a hard time sleeping without them. I noticed Scorpio stirring again, "Wha-". She shot up, her breathing heavy. "Calm down. You're going to pass out again if you keep stressing yourself like that." She put her hand on her forehead, "Sorry. Where are we?"
"A car, driving to the school, Ms. Harley's driving." From the front seat Naomi gave a thumbs up. "Where's Jamie?"
"She said she'd fly to the school. We didn't have enough seats in here to fit five, plus your weapons, anyway," Ms. Harley sighed, "You're lucky Chasan knew you'd be in some sort of danger, when I got there you looked like you were just a few inches from death's doorstep."
When we got back to the school, we were greeted by Chasan. "So, how'd your little raid go?" I helped Scorpio out of the car, "Could've gone better, could've gone worse. We killed a vampire who'd been terrorizing the city." Chasan closed his eyes, "Yes, I did sense that Alucard was a little more active than usual. That's why I sent Ms. Harley to get you." Naomi looked at Scorpio's arm, "Oof, that's probably gonna be there for a little while," she looked over to Chasan, "unless someone can show us what an Angel can really do?" Chasan shook his head, "I'm afraid not. Over the years, my power's diminished to the point where I can barely heal paper cuts. If Ms. Charleston were here, she might be able to, depending on how much she knows." He turned to me. "Oh! No, I don't really know how she is with that kind of thing, you'd have to ask her about that, where ever she went." I looked up expecting to see her, but nothing, "Should we be concerned? I mean, she can fly at around 64 Kilos per hour, it shouldn't take her that much longer than us to reach the school. Maybe we can-" Ms. Harley turned around and looked straight in my eyes, "You cannot go out again. Even if we were to allow you normally, your injuries are too severe." Chasan closed his eyes and nodded, "Yes. Under different circumstances, I'd let you, but especially with Ms. Topaz, it would be best for you not to go." Naomi groaned, "But I'm fine. I've regenerated perfectly since then." Chasan turned to look at her, "You know as well as I do that Mr. Orihara needs to know about Alucard's death. Speaking of pertinent information, Mr. Walker, I need you in my office." Scorpio started falling forward, I put my arm out and caught her before she hit the ground, "Yeah, I'd be down for that but Scorpio can barely stand, let alone walk to the dorm." Chasan lowered his head, "Very well, take Scorpio to her dorm, but afterward, I need you in my office."
"Understood." I grabbed Scorpio and started walking.
"Are you sure they'll find her?" I looked at Scorpio, who looked like she was barely holding on to consciousness. "I mean, you'd have the best chance of finding her, you two are closest." I sighed, "True, but if anything, she'll get back here before they reach town. When I first found her, we were 12, two months apart. I remember the day I found out she could fly, it was a week later, and she scaled a radio tower in 3 seconds because some teenagers left a loaf of bread up there." I laughed a little, "She's always been impulsive like that. You even saw it, when she decided to fly up the arena last week. Chances are she's just chasing a bird or something, she'll be back." Scorpio started stumbling. "Nope." I managed to re-balance her, "How bad was the damage?"
"Really bad. My arm was bleeding to the point I barely could rip off my sleeve. I think somewhere in there I passed out. I still can't feel my arm, and I barely have control over my leg." I looked at the makeshift bandage she had on her arm, what I assume used to be her sleeve was loosely tied around her arm, dark red and damp, "Was that from Alucard of the fall?" She shrugged, "I'm not entirely sure. The whole thing is kind of a blur for me." I looked up, expecting to see Jamie. There was nothing there. Where is she? Did something bad happen to her? I shook my head. "What?"
"Nothing."
When we reached our dorm, Brit was already waiting at the door. "Jeez, took you guy-"
"Not in the mood for your shit." I set Scorpio on her bed, "I'll be back."
"What about Jamie?"
"She'll be back too. Until then, make sure Scorpio doesn't die." Brit sighed, "Alright, but you owe me." I closed the door and walked out.
I knocked on the door. When the door opened, I expected Chasan to be standing there, but instead it was Jamie. "Took you long enough."
"Brit was giving the usual show." I walked in, and Jamie closed the door. Chasan set his hands on his desk, "So, as you two may know, you were called to this school for a reason. A majority of Demons and the such are designated to certain schools, but you two we explicitly told all other schools to send here. Do you have any theories as to why?" Jamie didn't move for a few seconds, then shook her head. "And you, Mr. Walker?" I shrugged. "Well, you two are particularly powerful. We've taken note of you since you first showed up in the city. You two have an, odd relationship, to say the least. Normally, Demons and Angels repel each other, it's the nature, one is meant to create while the other is meant to destroy." I lowered my head and shrugged, "Please don't tell me we're 'the chosen ones' or some shit like that." Chasan shook his head, "No, I don't think so. However, you two are certainly above average. Tonight, you proved that. You two sustained the least damage in that skirmish earlier than either of your peers. With one, Miss Heiwagima, it makes sense, she's used to sustaining injuries, but Miss Topaz? She barely can stand, as you pointed out." He picked up a pen and took out a sheet of paper, "I'm going to give you a little, extra lesson." He wrote two names on the paper, "God" and "Dielzavod". "These two are the original creators of the Universe. God was an Angel, who created galaxies, as well as planets and stars to inhabit them. Dielzavod was a Demon, who created the vacuum around those areas to ensure nothing was too packed. One day, however, God decided to do something, he made life in the forms of Angels. Of course, in Dielzavod's nature, he created the opposite, Death. Instead of getting mad, God complimented Dielzavod on sticking to his job, even creating a race for Dielzavod to call his own." Jamie looked at the paper, "So? What does this have to do with us?" Chasan drew two lines from names, under God he wrote "Lucifer" and under Dielzavod he wrote "Satan". "These two were the most powerful of both races, excluding of course, their creators. Well, that was until millennia ago, when Lucifer killed his creator. Since then, he's purged the Universe of Angels, to the point where it's not unheard of for entire galaxies to not house a single Angel." We must be lucky. In my life I've encountered two Angels, and they're in the same room as me. I felt my phone buzz. Jamie shot me a glare, but Chasan still just sat there, "Is it important?" I pulled it out, I had a message from Scorpio. "Get to the dorm if possible, we need to talk about something." I nodded, "Yeah, we'll continue this later if you don't mind, Jamie's gonna need to come with too." Chasan leaned back in his chair, "If it's that important."
