Chapter 13 - Primal Struggle!

There's no way out. Dream or not, it's fight or die.

Simon tenses, and quickly darts to the side, releasing a parting swipe with deadly claws in a feral fashion in the meantime.

A well placed maneuver based solely on bestial instinct falls flat due to lack of knowledge and outside circumstances.

Unknown to Simon, a direbear is a 3* in the beast classification. Human's in 3* such as Annie, can only barely contend with 3* beasts; and this is considering that she is a prodigy. Most humanoids can not compete in direct combat with monsters at the same rank.

And as of right now, Simon can only be considered a 2* at best!

The bear's eyes flick to Simon's changed location, as Simon's claws rake across the hide of the bear. It snorts in pain at the sharp strike, but quickly follows up with a twisted torso, into a paw smack toward Simon!

He senses the blow, and with his enhanced body and monstrous arms crosses his arms in front of his torso-

And takes a crushing blow, a singular strike!

Sent flying, he strikes a tree and screams in pain!

"AGH! .... ugh..."

(This is a dream!? No way... How am I supposed to win, let alone survive!?)

The direbear's eyes glint with intelligence, knowing it's prey's life is nearly at an end.

It prepares to rush again, doubting the ability of Simon to even begin to try and dodge again.

But while Simon is ignorant of the physical prowess of a direbear, it is likewise of the direbear toward Simon! A body built for survival and combat is not so easily suppressed. Even under the excruciating pain, splintered bone and mangled muscle begin to mend!

Sensing this, Simon feigns weakness-

And grapples the bear head on!

Caught by surprise, the direbear roars its disbelief and satisfaction, and moves to bite the head off the impudent being before it-

But Simon strikes faster, and with the will to kill!

Blood flowing through veins, and a primal rage befitting a bestial being such as the current Simon, stepping forward rather then back, he plunges his monstrous arm through the beasts jaw, starting with the claws, pushing his primate like arm even still further upward to the point where it is placed practically in the bear's mouth!

It screams in pain! And thrashes furiously and with a sense of fear, before falling still.

Simon had within that time penetrated the brain, first by piercing from the jaw upward! In the thrashing with his arm instilled within the bear, his arm was practically wrenched from it's socket, still connected with his elbow only by a string of muscle. Even through the unimaginable pain, a deep sense of satisfaction was present after Simon pulled out his arm from the bear's head, and gazed upon its corpse. A dangerous gamble paid off, but at what cost?

Even as he looked at his arm in befuddlement over whether or not it was actually a dream, even as the blood and brain matter covered it and him, he felt himself losing consciousness... or was he regaining it? One way or another, things were going black...
