Ian helped Mrs.Willard out with the dishes even though she didn't need him too. Lily was in the bathroom currently taking a shower. As Ian walked towards the sink, he let out a satisfied burp.
Mrs.Willard giggled before saying, "You know, for such a scary looking person, you're quite gentle." She grabbed the dirty plates from Ian's hand and washed them.
"Only to those who don't get on my bad side." Ian laughs and said. He grabbed one of the cleaned plates on the counter. With a hand towel, he dried the plate before putting it in the cabinet above him. He continued this in a routine manner.
"Hey Ian, you like Lily, right?" Mrs.Willard turned to look at him with a mischievous smile. She turned off the sink then leaned back on the counter; she faced Ian with her arms crossed.
"What? That's impossible....." Ian avoided her gaze. He put the last plate in the cabinet and closed it.
"Come on, Ian. It's practically written all over your face." Mrs.Willard said.
"Yeah." Ian finally confessed. "I like her."
Mrs.Willard looked around to see if Lily was close by. She came closer to him and whispered to his ear, "Lily likes to go to the beach a lot, and her birthday seems to be coming up next month." She backed away from him and winked.
"I love you even more now!" Ian tightly hugged her, "Can I call you mom?"
"Stop being so silly, you goof." Mrs.Willard giggled and said. She pats him on the back.
BOOM!
A loud explosion interrupted their cheerful mood. Ian and Mrs.Willard jolted from the sudden loud noise that came from outside. The explosion was strong enough to shake the entire apartment. The bookshelf and portraits in the living room fell to the ground, and the dishes from the cabinet broke one-by-one as they collided with the floor.
"What the fuck was that!" Ian shouted as he dashed towards the front door. Mrs.Willard followed after him, feeling terrified. When he was about to open the door, another explosion rang out.
BOOM!
Both of them bent down and covered their ears. The lights in the apartment flickered before it went out, leaving them in total darkness. Lily came rushing out of the shower with only a towel covering her body.
Lily's breathing was rapid; her chest was moving up and down. She had a panic look on her face and yelled, "What's going on!"
Ian quickly opened the door, but what he saw left him in disbelief. The screams of people echoed out in the street. A Fuel tanker had crashed into a two-story building across the street, which caused the explosions to occur. The fire spread around the surrounding buildings where the fuel was splashed on from the collision. A few people nearby caught fire and were rolling around on the ground screaming. A small group of 'mutated' fish with long, bony arms were charred from the flames and were burnt to death. The remaining ones chased after people and brutally killed them.
"Oh my god!" Mrs.Willard screamed and covered her mouth. She saw an elderly man lying on the street as the monster ripped his body apart. Its eyeball, that protruded out of its mouth, turned to look at them. It suddenly charged at them with an incredible speed.
"Fuck!" Ian screamed. He slammed the door and locked it. A loud bang was heard as the mutated fish slammed against the door repeatedly. Ian immediately turned his phone on for light and grabbed onto the bookshelf that was on the floor. He then dragged it against the door with full strength.
"We need to hide!" Ian exclaimed. He grabbed onto Mrs.Willard's hand and rushed towards Lily. Ian pushed both of them into a room across from the bathroom and slammed the door, locking it. Ian shined the light across the room before landing it on the bed.
"Quick! Under there!" Ian commanded. All three hid under the bed and faced towards the door. Ian turned his phone off without hesitation.
The sound of a broken window echoed through the walls.
Ba-dum, ba-dum, ba-dum.
Ian's heart pounded immensely as he breathed heavily. Sweat poured down his face as he continued looking vigilantly at the door. His teeth couldn't stop chattering. The three of them heard items being thrown around the living room. Then, an eerie silence filled the apartment room.
"D-did it le-leave?" Mrs.Willard whispered. She struggled to get her words out.
Clomp, clomp, clomp.
She clutched her dress and immediately went quiet. The sound grew closer and closer; it stopped once it reached the door. The three couldn't stop shaking in fear. Ian clenched his fist tightly, waiting for the worst to come. If it comes down to it, he would sacrifice himself to save Lily and her mother.
BANG! BANG!
Lily let out a sound, but Ian immediately covered her mouth. Tears were streaming down her face and onto his hands. The door couldn't withstand the punishment anymore as cracks started forming. The door finally broke loose, and it fell to the ground. Ian's heart started beating faster and faster as the monster slowly dragged itself in. It walked towards the bed and stood by it. The three of them could see its disgusting, black hands that were covered in blood. The smell of rotten fish permeated the room. The three almost induced vomit, and they quickly covered their nose.
The monster proceeded to destroy everything around the room, from lamps to drawers. The three continued watching without making the smallest of sounds, for fear that they might get caught. After a while, the monster finally left the room, and everything went silent. It wasn't until after a long period of time before Ian came out from under the bed. Ian quietly walked towards the door while avoiding debris. He took a deep breath before slowly popping his head out to look around. Ian signaled the two to come out when there were no signs of the monster. Lily collapsed on the floor and cried. Mrs.Willard put Lily's head on her chest and hugged her tightly. Lily's tears began soaking through her shirt.
Ian walked over to them. He looked dispirited when he saw Lily cry. He slowly knelt down and embrace them.
The burning buildings throughout Port Marbine lit up the night sky. The smoke rose up and formed a blanket over the town. Police sirens wailed loudly, and multiple rounds of gunfire were heard in the distance. Military helicopters hovered high above and sprayed the ground, that was infested with large, dark, humanoid monsters, with bullets from the Minigun. Civilians were unfortunately caught up in the bullet storm, and their bodies were blown off. A sedan flew straight towards a helicopter and collided into it. An explosion rang out as the helicopter spun out of control before crashing into a nearby three-story building.
An invasion took place in Port Marbine.
