Chereads / Slime Hunter System / Chapter 10 - Chapter 9: Downfall Of Glasses (Part 1)

Chapter 10 - Chapter 9: Downfall Of Glasses (Part 1)

After waking in the morning I went to see if the paralysis was still as bad as I woke up. Man...This must've been the weakest hunter I've seen in my life. They were still paralyzed and even the monster recovered faster than them. The worst part is that the slime took the bulk of the magic so this weakling right here didn't even take half of the attack, and there still freaking paralyzed! Gosh, this is a pain. I have a nuisance here that was just taking up space and nothing else.

They should be in this state for another hour or so, I should focus on something more important for now, like myself. I stopped thinking about the piece of garbage that was in the room and left for the Hunter's Association building to get a mission. When I entered the main room I received a lot of attention, as usual. I went up to the billboard that contained missions to grab the most "dangerous" monster hunt.

-Monster Hunt-

Hunt For The Frox's Chief

Monster: Elder Frox

Rank: 5

Hostile Level:7/10

Location: Swog Forest

Information: Is the leader of the Froxes and was discovered recently around the River of Swog. It has been said that it took over the Groog's Territory and completely wiped them out single-handedly. Very fast and powerful and Way bigger compared to other Froxes. Note: It had sharp claws that excelled at cutting, though the claws appear to be dull currently. This is the only weakness that has been reported recently.

-Monster Hunt End-

Ha! Is that it, just some oversized Frox. I walked over to the desk with the hot receptionist lady and winked while handing in the mission. I got the usual blush and a smile and I made sure not to react. She was in a daze and I had to hold the paper in front of her face to snap her out of it. After looking at what the mission was she gasped.

"Are you really going to attempt this?" asked the receptionist worriedly.

"Don't worry I'm Hunter Rank 10, after this I would be a Grand Hunter." I smiled back at her while answering. "And plus it's just another Frox."

I put on my man voice when I made the last statement and I looked around at the people in the room. They were looking at me, they knew I was referring to the Elder Frox. I heard compliments and comments expressing how great I am coming from all around the room. That made me happy.

The beautiful receptionist made it a Disassembly Mission, where I have to take apart the monster and bring back the body part of proof. Lucky for me I would have to come back and see everyone's reaction when I return with the mission done. I'm also glad she didn't use a Hunter Spell, which causes mission to be completed simply by killing the monster. Both are used for various reasons.

She handed the paper back to me while averting her gaze and smiling shyly. I ignored her as I grabbed the paper and then I left the building. I won't be able to complete it right now because of that nuisance who ate a slime but I could do it as soon as I finish with him.

As I headed back home through the town I looked at what the body part of proof was. The Elder Frox's reproductive organ! That was gross and weird but I guess it will make it easier to ask the receptionist when I bring it back from the hunt! Ask her what? That's quite inappropriate.

I opened the door to the office which contained the weirdo that I had to cure. I closed the door behind me with a thud to see if they were awake. Their eyes shot open and stared straight at me. It was kinda creepy but I didn't let it show on my face. They looked me up and down for a few seconds without moving anything but their eyes. I take that back it was extremely creepy. I wanted it to end so I spoke-

"You were probably exposed to too much monster energy. I found a slime stored in this drinking bot-"

"THANK YOU!!!" He shouted

The psycho slime eater had made a random outburst. My plan of trying to keep my face calm and quickly end this meeting was going to take longer than I thought

"Huh?"

"You saved me from a life that wasn't as thrilling. You opened my eyes to a new light. If it wasn't for you I would probably be on some epic adventure killing a powerful monster. Now I'm here killing slimes. I truly thank you for saving me from that unfitting life!"

What the heck! I didn't understand what the person was saying at all. Maybe they went psycho after eating the slime and now they're being controlled. They knew me from some place though. I could tell because they were thanking me for something. I just didn't understand what I did.

"I don't understand! What did I do?! Maybe your hallucinating from the slime you 'accidentally' drank!" I believe they drank the slime on purpose but I have to keep my opinions to myself. I thought there speech ended but they started again-

"These words are no hallucinations, they are true. I didn't drink the slime in that bottle, I was keeping it for my collection. Well maybe I probably took a few swigs but not enough to kill me. I just want you to understand you made me a slime and hunter and I thank you for that."

Were they blaming me for their corruption? I tried hard to understand or remember what they were talking about but nothing came to mind. They also mentioned that they were keeping this for a collection. I'm led to believe that this person is mentally ill.

"You are weird." I slipped up, my disgust for this person was reaching my mouth and it was harder to conceal it. "No something weird is going on with you. I will have to cast another Paralysis Spell on the monster within you in order to maintain your mind. I don't know if you could survive the monster being within you or another Paralysis Spell but it's the only choice or you'll die a horrible death. Don't move!"

"NOO! Listen before you cast the spell I…"

I recited the chant before ending it with the Paralysis Spell. I checked to make sure the idiot who impregnanted himself with the slime was immobile. Yup. Thank god I get to have a break from him. I actually casted the spell directly on him this time but since the slime is in his stomach I guess it was attacked as well.

I grabbed the Elopesion Crystal and waved it over his body. I was checking to see if any monster energy remained. Nothing happened and the Elopesion Crytal stayed its normal purple color. Even after trying again over his stomach there was no reaction. I set the crystal down and took another look at the idiot.

It seemed he was trying to do something with magic. I don't know why but it was stupid to try and use magic in this state. I really don't want to tell him but I will have to so he won't go around telling everyone that I didn't.

"If you can hear me right now don't try to channel your magic energy! It is very dangerous if you try to control it in your current paralyzed state." I regretted telling him but being nice makes people like me.

After I finished speaking I senses the paralysis wearing off. Dang It! The effect of the paralysis was much weaker than the first time comsidering the slime took the bulk of the damage. It seems he'll wake up in just a couple of minutes. Since I couldn't go off and do what I wanted.

The few minutes passed and I saw that he was moving again. I decided to play nicely again-

"Are you okay? You survived so you should've restored your mental state."

"Yeah. I don't feel anything. What happened?"

I'm not stupid and he was obviously lying because I just made up the hallucination thing as an excuse to paralyze him again. Maybe if I continue it like this he'll go away and this can end a lot sooner.

"You probably accidentally drank some slime. Slimes around the River of Swog are poisonous if ingested. I don't know of the effects but you were suffering from them."

I wish I knew of the effects of eating or trying to digest slime. All I knew is that it was deadly but not of the symptoms it causes before the person dies. Since every monster causes its own problems in the body if eaten then slimes should have their own special symptoms as well.

"The poison causes death."

...I stared at him a couple of seconds. Was he trying to teach me about a subject that I had more experience in. A stupid, slime-eating, self-impregnating, idiotic weakling that can only kill slimes was trying to inform me on the basics of consuming monsters.

"Well yeah I know that. You don't know what you're talking about, if you did you wouldn't be in this situation." I was about to let it all go but I was able to hold myself back from unleashing a wave of insults just barely.

"What if I wanted to die."

"..."

"Yeah that's what I thought."

I stared at him as he got up from the bead and walked over to the exit. Was I just bested by an idiot? Did he just win this conversation? He said something that I couldn't counter and finished it off by leaving before I could come up with a reply. I was about to stop him but he closed the door behind him.

I thought about what just happened for awhile then I remembered I had a hunt to do. I had to kill the Elder Frox in the Swog Forest and bring its reproductive organ back to the Hunter's Association. In order to get there quickly, I used Minor Aerial Movement to move through the air for short periods of time. After regular intervals I would cast the spell again to float through the air at a speed faster than I can run.

When I arrived at the forest, I immediately pulled out my Retzo Bow. Capable of fusing wind magic with arrows improves accuracy, precision, power, and distance. This is one of the gifts I was blessed with at the church. It's a Holy Artifact created long ago by a prophet of the God of Breeze. It seems as if the church worships me more than the Elder Deities.

The Glasses I wear do more than just make me look intellectual they also give me the ability to see further distances. Blessed by the high priest who specializes in praying to the Sight God. Along with my own capabilities, these two objects are what make me an exceptional archer.

As I approached what used to be the Groogs' Territory I stopped and prepared my bow. I heard rustling in the bushes and the trees. Froxes watch in groups from, not only the ground but trees as well. I didn't have time to hide which was my plan at first before scouting the area. It seems that they were more prepared than I expected. It didn't matter though, they were still weak.

I freed my hands of Retzo by putting it on my back. I casted the Wind Blade Storm Spell which surrounded me in a field of rapid winds that work as small swords. The Froxes in the trees and the bushes that fell to the power of the attack were greatly injured. I then quickly canceled the spell and casted Wind Blast. A force of all the wind concentrated into one area and then unleashed in the path of all the 27 Froxes that laid before me.

The effect was devastating; since I'm used to this I ignored their easy defeat and continued towards the inward section of the land which the Froxes had recently taken over and were currently inhabiting. Barely anytime passed before I came across another group. It looks as if they had already seen me. I really enjoy showing off my power in front of monsters before ultimately killing them. They had already seen what I had done to their brothers and sisters, they know their fate.

I quickly finished off the 20 or so Froxes before moving on to the Elder Frox who I heard the growls from in the distance. It was creeping out of a cave on all fours staring at me in the eyes. The eyes full of hatred and hunger was all I could see along with its massive body.

I didn't approach the monster I just reached behind me and pulled out my bow and a single arrow. I watched it's eyes follow the movements of my hands and stop on my bow. If the creature wasn't angry already I know it really is now. I hurriedly aimed my bow at it to fire my arrow but before my fingers could let go it had already approached my side.

The only problem was...too slow. It claws reached above my head and came down in an incredibly fast rate; still not fast enough. I dodged and used the same spell I used before: Wind Blast. I saw that as they felt the pain of hitting the tree behind it, its face swelled with madness and insanity. Instead of rushing me, like it did the first time, it stood on its hind legs and let out a roar.

ROOOAOAOAOAOOAOOOR!!!!!

This was supposed to be a combination of paralysis and intimidation; however, the noise was still too weak to affect me. All that happened was that I was a little more annoyed. One arrow was all I needed-

FWOOSH!!!

GAAROOA!!!

One arrow was all it took. After the beast fell down in pain and I made sure that I suffered no injuries, I calculated the time. 6 minutes overall, a tad bit too long. I pulled out my deluxe and expensive dissembling tools and got to work.

KRRK!

GRRHH!

A little blood got on me but that was alright. After detaching the only part I needed and put it in my bag. I then searched the cave the Elder Frox growled at me from for treasure. It was empty for the most part but I took all the valuables so no one else would have them. It seemed like the Frox liked items that were rusty because all the objects that were piled in the cave were like that. I put what I wanted into another spare bag.

My hunt was complete and all I needed to do was return with the Body Part of Proof. Like before I used Minor Aerial Movement which was an effective, easy, and quick way of single person travel. I swiftly made it back to Astasia where I went straight towards the Hunter's Association Building.
