Chapter 3 - Chapter 2: Ridiculed and Shunned

"Now, hero, you are the last one remaining, please tell us your powers..."

All of my classmates, king, princesses, and knights now had their focus directed at me. How can I possibly survive this humiliation?! DAMN YOU SEIICHI!

I turned to face the king, who looked expectant and so did my peers. I had no choice but to spit it out. I would most likely be abandoned and bullied to an even greater extent than before... Who knew this second life would be even more pathetic than my first? Well, what can I do, right?

"My name is Reiki Ishida, all of my stats are below 10, I have no class, no affinities, and no skills!"

"..."

"..."

"..."

Suddenly Seiichi burst out laughing. It was a crude laugh, one which made me get even more irritated, angry and frustrated than ever before. As I was trying to contain my emotions he suddenly points at me and directed his characteristic amiable comments at me:

"THIS GIRL HAS ABSOLUTELY NO TALENT AS A HERO! HAHAHAHA〜"

As soon as he said this, all of my pears started sending me their comforting comments, following Seiichi's example.

"YOU SHOULD JUST DIE HAHAHA〜"

"WHY WERE YOU EVEN BORN? HAHA〜"

"NO AFFINITIES? ARE YOU SERIOUS? HOW USELESS ARE YOU?! HAHAHA〜"

Those words used to have no effect on me due to having been exposed to those types of comments many times before, but this time... I simply couldn't, it really hurt me. I turned to face the laughing mob of my classmates only to make out the figure of Sakura saddened. She seemed like she was about to cry... 'I guess she still cares about me, huh?' I Iet out a small smile, though what was reflected wasn't happiness. I kept my head facing the floor when the king shouted:

"SILENCE!"

I was surprised by his sudden overpowering command, so I instinctively turned to see him, he then continued:

"Hero, please follow me... We must discuss..."

As soon as he said that he turned around and started heading behind his throne. I was somewhat hesitant at first, but in the end, I followed him.

We passed through various corridors, stairs, and hallways until we finally arrived inside a luxurious room which looked like an office, it had a desk with a fancy chair and then two other chairs in front of it. It seemed like any other office, except for the fact that it was fully decorated with precious metals and gemstones. 'As expected from a monarch, I guess...'

As I was inspecting the extravagant room, the king sat on the chair behind the desk and gestured for me to sit in front of him. I sat down following his command without questioning when he began explaining:

"Please answer honestly, Hero"

I nodded in response

"Are you lying regarding your stats, class, attributes or skills?"

"No"

"Are you completely sure that the stats, class, attributes, and skills you mentioned are the way they are?"

"Yes"

"Do you have any idea as to why this might be?"

With that question, I froze up. I wasn't sure if to respond the truth, seeing how powerful and useful Seiichi was to the kingdom, besides the fact I wasn't fully sure if Seiichi had truly been responsible for this...

"No, I have no idea" I lied.

"Hmm, very well"

The mood around him changed, into a saddened one, he looked as if he had just lost somebody. I immediately knew what he would say next sensing this atmosphere.

"I must apologize, hero, we cannot spare extra resources with a large scale war going on..."

I knew it...

"We cannot train you either if you apparently have less potential than the common person in this world..."

I'm being abandoned again, shunned, humiliated... I'm going to be left alone once more...

"I'm once again sorry hero, but you will have to leave the castle and live on your own. Please, live safely..."

When his brief monologue finished I could only reply bitterly:

"Ok..."

I left the castle with the 1 gold coin they gave me. 'At least they didn't leave me completely empty-handed...' While thinking that, I gave off sad smile. 'Well, there's no use in sulking forever!' I jumped slapped my cheeks a little and said out loud:

"Alright! What's the most logical thing to do now?"

According to the knowledge the angel gave to us, I'm not incredibly poor right now... In this world of 'Estrea', the currency is managed through coins made by differing precious metals. The basic currency is 1 tin coin, 100 tin coins will get you 1 bronze coin, 100 bronze gets you 1 silver coin, 100 silver gets you 1 gold coin and finally, 100 gold coins get you a Platinum coin. So yeah... I'm not that poor as you might think... Probably...

Going over some other knowledge the angel bestowed upon us I found that there is an 'adventurer's guild' here in the Everidian kingdom. According to the knowledge, an adventurer's guild is a system which allows adventurers to complete quests or tasks in order to receive monetary rewards. Anyone can apparently sign up as an adventurer but there seems to be a fee...

"I guess, I'll try that out then!"

As I was walking through the fantasy town making my way to the guild I was amazed multiple times. This world truly was similar to a fantasy land of the middle ages, there were different races inside the city such as elves, dwarves, beast men, and of course humans. I was also able to witness some magic being used, which only made me depressed when I remembered my pitiful status.

Along the way, I noticed how there wasn't much technological advancement, but that was to be expected... The roads weren't paved, transportation was purely based on a horse or monster-pulled carriages, and most structures were made out of wood.

Without much of my noticing, my mood improved...

After around 30 minutes of walking around like a hyperactive kid in a candy store, I finally managed to locate the adventurer's guild. It was a massive structure with a sign in front showing its name. It was quite intimidating to be honest, forcing me to hesitate before entering. After fidgeting for an embarrassing amount of minutes I entered the guild.

The inside was quite a spectacular sight... The roof was at least 3 stories high with a humongous floating chandelier being used as illumination... 'Magic?' The place was also suited with several tables where many adventurers chatted away while drinking alcohol. Finally, there was also a counter where there were a number of beauties working as receptionists.

I slowly walked to the counter, without making myself noticed by the other adventurers. I then awkwardly ask, while looking away from the... ahem... well endowed receptionist.

She seems like an 'onee-san' type of person. She has a large bust, brown curly shoulder-length hair, brown eyes and a height of about 5.8 ft. I would definitely say she is pretty, but not beautiful.

"I'm sorry... err... could I register as an adventurer...? Please?"

The receptionist was a bit weirded by my timid nature but then proceeded to say with great enthusiasm and an honest smile:

"Yeah! All you must do is a pay a fee of 1 silver coin as well as be appraised by these 2 crystals over here. By the way, I'm Kira!"

As she finished saying that, she pointed to the 2 big crystals over in another room, one seemed like your dull typical hexagonal crystal will the other seemed... hollow?

"Don't worry, we won't judge your skills or stats you may possess. We simply perform this test in order to prevent demons infiltrating as adventurers, since powerful adventurers can influence even royals' decisions."

As soon, as she said this I lost a few my doubts regarding these strange procedures and laid down my gold coin in front of her. She quickly grabbed it and gave me a small bag of 99 silver coins which could easily fit into my uniform's pocket.

"Well then... Let's get you appraised!" She said cheerfully as she began walking to the next room holding the 2 large crystals. I quickly followed once I noticed she had begun walking.

"..."

The room had nothing but the two large crystals inside it, and they were emanating some sort of power so they made me uncomfortable. Seemingly noticing this, Kira said comfortably:

"Don't worry. Don't be nervous alright?"

Somehow her words were actually comforting... 'Maybe I can do this?' Is what I thought to myself when her optimism had finally broken through to my soul.

'I'll give it my best! What do I need to do?"

She gave me a smile and said:

"YES! Don't worry, all you need to do is put your hand on these two crystals and... THAT'S IT!" She said cheerfully.

"Got it"

I turned to face the first of the crystals, the dull hexagonal one. I was doubtful but I managed to put my hand on the crystal. As I did that, the light emitted a strong light, but not enough to make me close my eyes.

But what I now had in front of me was a transparent window...

With my horrible status displayed...
