Om walked a little and came in front of Arjun. He pulled back a chair and sat on it. Only at this moment was he able to observe the whole room. The room was very big with its wall painted with a dull gray color. There was a very big T.V hanging on left wall. Even the word 'big' was not enough to describe it (And thus, the author searches on the internet for other words. Hmm…Gigantic, Titanic, Huge, etc). Behind Arjun's desk, there were huge glasses from which one could see outside but no one from outside could see inside. And due to being the only building so high there, there was nothing that hindered the sunlight to enter the room which made the whole room very brightly lit. Although it seemed that this would heat up the room, but ACs did their jobs to cool down the room. The view from the 12th floor was a very beautiful one, especially at night time when the whole world is lit up with lights.
Suddenly, a cough pulled Om out of his daze. Realizing that he had been dazing, Om's face became red from embarrassment. Seeing Om embarrassed, Arjun smiled lightly and asked, "Do you mind if I ask you a question?"
Hearing this Om immediately waved his hand, "I don't mind boss. You don't have to ask so politely. I will feel very uncomfortable if you talked in this way, boss."
Arjun laughed as he heard this, "Ok, alright. Then let me ask you, if someone were to give you a job offer which was way better than you have now, would you leave this company for that?"
As Om heard Arjun's question and he began to seriously ponder. If someone did offer him a better job opportunity, he would definitely leave this company he worked in. Anyways, he had already made up his mind to resign soon. If he had to leave a little early, that would still be okay. So, he nodded his head at Arjun.
Seeing this, Arjun laughed. He had already known the answer himself. But he still asked to see what Om was going to say. And Om, without hitting around the bush, he directly answered him with a nod. The honesty shown by Om had amused Arjun. Most people would definitely say whatnot in-front of their boss to please them, but Om didn't try to please Arjun with his reply which in itself pleased Arjun (Confused, right?).
After Arjun stopped laughing, he said with a serious face, "Let's just come down to business then. I have a very great friend whose company is specialized in hosting Stand-Up comedy events all over India. He was there in the auditorium yesterday and when he saw your hilarious performance, he was hell bent on getting you to perform with his group. As for the salary they would give you? That would be Rs 15,000 per month. If there are some hit shows, then that might also rise. Well, that depends upon your performance. So, how about it? Do you want to join his company? Anyways, your talent in Stand-Up comedy would rot if you were to stay here. So, it's just better that you join him from tomorrow. That way, you would be able to earn much more."
"But if you don't want to go then, that's okay too. I called you here to discuss this as well as about the promotion. If you don't want to go then, I'd be more than happy to promote you and give you a salary of around the same that my friend has promised you. Now, it's all up to you if you want to go or not."
At this time, Om's eyes were sluggish and his mouth wide open. He couldn't take in so much information at once. After digesting all the information, he was very excited. Although he had wanted to resign from the company, he didn't have anywhere else in his mind where he could get another job. But suddenly now he has a new job opportunity which offers him more than what he earned. And because of performing in various places, he would gather more and more popularity points and earn more than what he did yesterday. This was killing like two birds with one stone. If Om didn't agree to this proposal, he would be an absolute idiot.
So, he immediately nodded his head and said seriously, "I always had a dream to entertain the masses. I wanted to be a superstar. But because of my average looks and the poor conditions of my household, I couldn't do anything about it. But because of you, sir, I still might have a chance. And even if I could not become a superstar, I could still be a well-known person. And all this would be because of you, boss. So, thank you, boss, to give me such an excellent opportunity to grow. I will never forget what you have done for me."
Obviously, Om didn't have any such dream. There was 60% truth and 40% lies in his statement. After sincerely thanking Arjun, Om immediately stoop up and went towards Arjun and bowed down to touch Arjun's feet. Setting aside all the nonsense, Om really was very grateful to Arjun. If not for him, he really wouldn't be able to get this new job.
Seeing Om touching his feet, Arjun immediately helped Om up. He patted Om's shoulder and said, "You don't have to mention that. It is what you have earned for yourself. This help is still small compared to what you had done for me. You have saved my face and make me proud. You have helped me maintain my title of 'A person who doesn't breaks his promise'." Arjun said jokingly.
[A.N- Touching others feet, this is something that children in Indian families are taught from the beginning and are supposed to follow till adulthood. The primary motive behind this gesture is to bow down and show respect to the elder. The person whose feet are being touched, blesses you with long life, fortune and wisdom, as an acknowledgement.]
After standing up, Om laughed when Arjun mentioned the title. Soon, he once again sat down on his chair and talked with Arjun for quite a while. After Om was done chatting, he went back to the 3rd floor, he began packing up things he had left on his desk. After packing up, he was ready to leave. It was just 12:30 PM. So, seeing Om leaving at this time caught attention of quite a many people. Everybody in that department somehow caught wind of the news about what had happened yesterday.
When they heard the news, they were very jealous. Just performing once on the stage had earned Om the amount of money they earn in about 3 months. How couldn't one be jealous of this? The three 'dogs' under Ravindra were also incomparably jealous. Their teeth were itching to get a bite of Om's reward but they knew that they couldn't so they stopped thinking about it for now.
Now, seeing Om leaving at this time without even doing anything since the time he came, the three 'dogs' immediately smelled an opportunity. They immediately stood up and rushed towards Om.
"Hey, where do you think you are going?"
"Yes, where do you think you are going?"
"…Same as above two."
"...."
Seeing this, Om realized that these three had quite a talent in comedy. Just listening to the three's dialogues, one would burst out laughing. As he was about to say something, one of them once again stopped him and said, "You don't have to say anything. We know that you want to slack off just because boss praised you yesterday."
"Yes, yes. We know that."
"…Same as above two."
"...…."
Om was truly speechless this time. He had two things in his mind going on. First, he had to rename the 'Dog trio' to 'the three idiot dogs '. Second, they were really very dumb. And third, He didn't care what they had to say.
So, Om just stopped trying to explain as he knew that as soon as he opens his mouth, someone would definitely interrupt him which would make him angry and make him shout at the top of his lungs, and which in turn would catch the attention of many people including their 'master'. When their master comes, he would once again have another reason to cut his pay. But all that was definitely useless now.
As Om had thought, soon the 'master' of the 'the three idiotic dogs' came. His face was incredibly solemn right now. He walked slowly but a domineering aura was being emanated out of him. When he arrived at the scene. Screw the three idiotic dogs, he didn't even ask what happened and looked directly at Om. He said solemnly, "Om, you cannot enter when you wish to enter and leave when you are bored. This is not your home. This is the company, sir Arjun had set up on his own. And I don't want any kind of nuisance like you in this company. This is your contract and now you are fired from this company. Don't ever dare to show your face here again."
