2035, Capital City
It is 8 A.M. in the morning. People all around the city are waking up to a beautiful sunrise. As the city begins to wake people speak to each other among the clamor of voices. Capital City is not the capital city of a country, as the name suggests, but is named that as it is considered the capital of the entire world. Capital City was created on an island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean which was created on top of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. It was formed in a joint effort by all of the powers of the world by creating a massive floating island. The base of the island is a super-buoyant material known as Cello-Foam. Then the base was covered in packed dirt and rocks to make an island. It is considered the safest city on Earth. The island itself is about 20 miles by 10 miles. Most of it is covered by the sprawling Capital City, though there are some areas which are national parks. It is built over the Mid-Atlantic Ridge for a reason, so that the city can be powered by the geothermal energy from the ridge. The Capital City is divided in to several districts, which are ranked as Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond in increasing order. Most people live in Bronze, even though it is the worst of the districts the living conditions are of the same quality as the high-end districts of other large cities. Silver tier consists of the more well-off people, the people you think of when you think of someone who lives near you who has a large house and a sports car. The Gold districts is the last place you can enter with money alone. This district houses the Earth's 0.1%, and is extremely luxurious. To enter Platinum and Diamond, however, you must have connections. In fact, some people who have less money than Gold tier people live in Platinum, like war heroes or people who invented life-changing technologies. Diamond is the best of the best, with homes of the most well-known and also the most secretive individuals in it. This is where you can find CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, presidents, world-wide celebrities, and many others.
Our protagonist, however, does not live in Diamond, nor does he live in Platinum, nor Gold, nor Silver, but Bronze. Ryz is a young man who has just graduated from high school. He doesn't have many interests, or much money. He is an orphan who was found on the doorstep of an orphanage in Capital City. He was found with a note that simply said, "His name is Ryz. I am sorry that I cannot care for him, but I must go. I hope he grows into a fine man." Today is the day after his graduation, and is the eve of New Destiny Online's release.
