Hearing the boy's comment, Jia Ne felt pleased and proud of herself for successfully dressing herself as an ordinary girl. Satisfied with his behavior, she smiled at him and winked. If it were an ordinary day and she was dressed as her usual self, perhaps that poor guy will be head over heels for her but the situation right now was somewhat… special.
Seeing her interested in him, cold sweat dripped down on his forehead. His body shuddered and struggled with all difficulty to walk out of the classroom. All men made a silent pact that aside from Ji Chen whom they have to avoid at all cost, they all agreed to include this creepy newcomer in the list.
The professor immediately broke the awkward silence looming in the classroom and asked Jia Ne to choose her desired seat. Her eyes roamed around in the room's every corner to choose its best resting spot. Wherever her eyes were directed toa certain nook in the room, a guy will instantly shiver and avert his gaze away from her. No matter what, they must avoid that creepy woman's eye contact of else their life force will be sapped dry.
Finally, her gaze fell on someone who was asleep at the corner of the class and upon closer inspection, her eyes twinkled and a smug smile appeared on her face. The table beside that seat was empty and there was no chair placed together with that table. Not even a single soul can be felt lingering in that desolated area and thus, it will be her perfect resting place. She started walking towards that direction, paused for a moment, grabbed a chair and deliberately dragged it to that course.
The shrill sound of the chair getting dragged across the classroom resonated in the entire room and gave everyone goosebumps. They thought that this newcomer is being too much and on her very first day, she seemed to be up against Ji Chen. They all knew that she is intentionally making the ear-splitting clatter to wake Ji Chen up.
'She's really doing it.'
'She's so creepy.'
'I think she's kind of courageous doing something we're not capable to do.'
Everyone whispered amongst themselves and was waiting how the vile beast will react to this crazy witch. The piercing sound reached Ji Chen's ears and felt that sharp gaze directed at him. At first, he was surprised that this newcomer is actually brave enough to mess up with him however, he was already immune to this kind of stuff and knew that all they are showing is a façade to act cool and mighty but does not have the balls to elevate the commotion into a fight.
[A/N: Ah Ji Chen. First of all, she does not have balls since she's a girl. Well, egg cells perhaps. And look who's talking about having a façade? You dare?]
Ji Chen straightened up his back to look at his enlisting enemy sending herself to ger doom. Both their gazes locked up with each other and the atmosphere immediately dropped a few degrees. He remained expressionless but his changing aura did not escape Jia Ne's exceptional perception. She stood in front of him and a smile that's not a smile flashed on her face. She provokingly stared down at him like she was the best and that he's just a lowly peasant.
They remained silent for a while and no one tried to break off their eye contact like they are having a competition and their life was at stake. The professor coughed up lightly and asked Jia Ne to settle down. Not eager to move and divert her gaze, she asked Ji Chen," I'm sure there will be no objection if I will seat here, right?"
"…"
She smirked. "Since that's the case, then starting today this will be my permanent seat now."
Ji Chen did not utter a sound and just changed his posture to a learning position and shut his eyes. Jia Ne looked delighted since she accounted this encounter as her first victory against her nemesis. She sat beside him comfortably, opened her bag and looked for something inside it. The clattering sound caught Ji Chen's attention so he intentionally half opened his right eye and looked at what the witch is up to.
Finally, he found her taking out a small notebook, giggled all by herself and started writing something. Seeing her all happy, it aroused Ji Chen's suspicion and took away the notebook without any forthcoming warning. Originally, he just intended to take a quick glance at what she was writing but upon seeing that she wrote his and her name written side by side and that her name has a number 1 corresponding in it, his hand froze.
Was she…
Trying to play F.L.A.M.E.S?
---------------------------------
F.L.A.M.E.S stands for Friends, Lovers, Anger, Marriage, Engagement, and Soulmates. You get the name of two people. Cross out the similar letters in their names, and then total the number of the remaining letters. You then count the numbers against the acronym and then you get a future prediction of your 'relationship' with the person (whose name you wrote down beside yours).
[A/N: Confused on why Ji Chen is accustomed to that girly game? Please refer back to the story synopsis. Apparently, he was once a fairy believer for 7 years. ^_^
Blame it to the parents and not the author. LOL]
