Chapter 3 - The System

[Welcome host.]

Roman was immediately woken up by the voice which was significantly louder and clearer this time.

However, as Roman opened his eyes, he did not find himself in the familiar surroundings of his room. Instead, he was greeted by a rolling green field, during the day, with two large buildings at the edge.

"Hello?" Roman called out.

There was no response.

He was in a state of slight panic. The last thing he remembered was moving his exhausted five-year-old body to his bed to rest for the night before the big day. After all, who at the age of five wouldn't burn out after a day of frolicking in the fields. But upon awakening, he found himself in an unfamiliar space.

When Roman transmigrated into Aeon, he encountered many things that would have been deemed as odd on Earth. As a result, Aeon had assumed that the reason he was in a place he could not recognize was because there remained a great many things he did not understand about the new world he lived in.

Roman's face wore a frown as he decided to make head toward the house. He figured the owner of the house could help enlighten him as to how to get home.

Upon reaching the house, Roman noticed a black stone stele placed in front of the building. Its carvings read: [The Supreme Taming System Domain]

Roman suddenly felt the urge to place his hand on the stele. The pull from the stele gave him the feeling as if nothing else mattered. He soon forgot his initial plan of knocking on the door of the house as he approached the stele

Upon contact, a bright light flashed before Roman's eyes and that familiar chiming voice surfaced.

[Welcome host.] The voice chimed once more.

Roman spent his previous life on Earth living vicariously through the characters in webnovels he read on the internet since he could only spend his time slogging it out trying to make money to pay for school before his untimely death by lightning strike.

Roman was initially puzzled that he was not entitled to a system upon rebirth. He assumed that his rebirth came with a new world and a new life, devoid of a helpful system – a scenario more realistic than the main characters of the novels he came to love and envy. But lo and behold. Roman had a system!

After hearing the voice of the system, Roman dropped his worries about where he was. He figured it had to be related to the system and decided to ask out loud.

"System, where am I?"

[Host is currently located in the private domain of the Supreme Taming System. The system, me, is currently located in your soul.] The system replied almost instantly as if predicting Roman's question.

Roman grinned with joy, knowing that his plans to tackle the mountain behind Branch Village would succeed with the help of the system. From this point, he utilized his familiarity with system novels he had read in the past to ask more questions.

"OK, perfect! System, give me a brief introduction to your capabilities. I'd like to plan for my future."

[Certainly, host. This is system was built around the concept of the world of Aeon. Simply put, if you had transmigrated to another world, the system would have simply adapted to the circumstances of that world to give you the best odds of success in life.]

Roman nodded, implying that he understood the basic logic of the system. This a completely radical idea to this self-proclaimed system novel expert.

[Like my name, the Supreme Taming System equips you with the most efficient training and tools to become a world class tamer,] the system continued.

[Since you already understand systems, you should know that the system has several locked and unlocked functions. As for the locked functions, you will have to discover those yourself. This is part of your learning journey to becoming the best. On the other hand, the unlock functions should be self-explanatory. The status page gives you your current status and condition, while the inventory page permits you to interact with your inventory. Last of all, you have the missions page where you can check up on the progress of your current missions. Naturally, you can call upon the system functions in your mind without having to speak out loud.]

"Ok, but that still does not explain the relevance of this domain. How do I enter and exit? What is this domain supposed to function as?" Roman remained puzzled.

[Glad you asked. Since you will embark upon your Egg Hunt tomorrow, you must first learn taming skills. Check your Beginner's Package for that. It is located in your inventory.] The system clearly replied.

Before Roman could attempt the suggestion, the system continued.

[This domain will allow you to train yourself and your future tamed companions most efficiently. The environment the domain provides you allows the most ideal conditions for beasts to learn skills and evolve their level. The beasts you contract in the future will all have access to this domain as long as you will it.]

[To answer your first question, you may activate the domain by stating enter domain, and exit domain to exit. Naturally your body would be placed in a state of slumber, but the system will notify you of surrounding dangers.]

Roman proceeded by calling out his inventory.

Immediately, a pop-up screen appeared before him showing his inventory with the beginner's package. Roman impatiently motioned his hand to click on the package.

Just as the package was opening, the system chimed.

[Host can also operate the system and its functions through thoughts and voice command. Naturally, physically operating the system works – but this serves as a reminder that the host need not physically interact with the system in reality. This would prevent awkward encounters with people around you. The system can only be viewed by you.]

Just as the system completed its reminder, the package manifested in the space in front of him revealing three books, two gold slips of paper, and a sack.

Roman reached forward to pen through the books. He noticed they were titled [Supreme Taming,] [Supreme Rearing,] and [Supreme Tamer's Cultivation]. Roman instinctively placed his hand on top of the cover of the books to learn the skills.

In a flash of light, a flood of complex ideas and techniques invaded Roman's mind, integrating into his memories. Roman received a splitting headache that forced him to his knees.

[Host will naturally experience information overload by learning so many skills at once. Please remember to pace yourself.] The system called out as Roman reminded himself to never try to learn that many skills in sequence in the future.

Roman wanted to analyze the skills he had just learned in greater depth but saved it for later as he turned his attention to the rest of the items.

He grabbed the two gold slips of paper next and broke out into a wide smile.
