Tyrell Darius walked down the hallway, opened the door to his personal suite and slammed it shut.
Today had been a rough day from him. His boss had been a total bastard. Did that fat bastard think that forcing businesses into their subsidiary was easy? Just for today he had to ran an old shop out of business for some meager space. That old dwarf kept crying and clinging to his tailor made trouser and disgustingly begged him. It's so irritating. Did that dwarf know how much time it would take to clean the dirt out of his clothing. It was hopeless, of course the shop was already theirs due thank to the bankruptcy charges. There were nothing that pathetic old man could do to stop the takeover.
Tyrell smiled with dark satisfaction. The very thought of that old dwarf and his pathetic daughter out on the street begging for the next meal would nurse his feeling somewhat. Hell, he saw this case a lot often, most of those men newly introduce to the slum would be robbed on the street or forced into a gang as a canon fodder. The women would be abducted and used as a sex slave until she broke. He resisted the urge to laugh out loud. That was the reason he climbed out of the slum. The reason he left his sickly and mentally damage mother who was used over and over until she forgot how to speak. He knew he had to climb to the top or else he would suffer her fate. No one was there to teach him that so-called empathy. Empathy and mercy got you kill--the gang taught him that. Hell they wiped out every rival down to the last babies and hang their corpse on the street.
That why he joined Emma Enterprise. They offered opportunity, wealth and, most important of all, power. He had to climbed to the top of the power stair. Only then would he be save. Only then would he be secure. Maybe, since she reminded him so much of his mother, he might even take that pathetic old dwarf's little girl as his personal toy. That was at least much more merciful than being play over by hundred men right.
Clap! Clap! Clap!
Tyrell jerked up. His years in the gang warned him that whoever was clapping behind him was not someone he could mess with. How could someone infiltrated their security without him knowing. You had to be a solid A-Rank with concealment ability to pull it off.
Tyrell sweated. Emma had numerous A-Rank and each one of them was in the special forces and invigilator position. They are the elite who had broken the bound of human limit. Their skills' collection and proficiency was beyond the level of the common rank and file. Even him who honed his spell and knowledge for ten long years got halt at the plateau of B-Rank. He tried to move up ofcourse but somehow his strength seemed to hit the limit of what muscle could attain and, no matter how many spell he crammed in, his magic control didn't bulge.
And Wisdom? His wisdom was at E with no sign of improvement. What did that stat even do anyway?
"Who are you?" He said. "Are you here to threaten me or made a deal?"
"Now, now, Mr. Darius are you claiming that I would came here in the middle of the to threaten a man as pitiful as you," the masked man said in a warped voiced. Tyrell groaned. A voice changer meant that tracking this man down will be even more difficult. "What I wanted to offer you are knowledge and opportunity. It is two things I have no doubt a helpless man such as you would likely need it?"
"Opportunity?" Tyrell said. "Interesting but I had to ask you--not that I wanted to compare myself to an exalted A-class such as you. But I have to ask: I hold high position, connection and bright future--in which way am I helpless or pitiful?"
"You live a life without a meaning." the man raised his head up revealing a mask with a giant star painted on its right eyes. "I saw you today. Looking down from high above as you throw two innocent people who tried to live their best into the street."
"They fail to pay..."
"Oh I know who set up the scheme. Quite clever. You released a loan to the thriving business for expansion. But little did the poor debtor knew that you are setting the market up with competitor who already agreed to work under you. Both you and your conspirator stink of corruption and greed. That why you are both equally pitiful."
The masked man stood up and looked down upon him with a terrifying glowing eyes of multi-color rainbow. Normally, Tyrell would call such colors childish but somehow that glowing rainbow eyes emitted enough disappointment to make him pray for forgiveness and on the side note he hated religion.
"You are pitiful from birth. Never once did you receive any love. Never once did you receive any comfort. Your body and history was made out of pain and backstabbing. Why should I felt anything but sorrow for man so unfortunate as you? The man who could climb all he want, will destroy as much as he want, yet will never know the sense of happiness or accomplishment. You had, and always will be, trying to spite that father you never know. You are running desperately from the memory of the mother you disown--trying as hard as you could to control that memory. You join the gang to change yourself. You hurt other to increase your self-worth and will continued to do so for all eternity in an attempt to capture that first high. So pitiful don't you think?"
Upon hearing what exactly he was. Tyrell Darius collapsed on his knee completely in denial but unable to counter what the devil was saying.
"For me there is no need to be angry at the addict for consuming drug." The man towered over him. "No matter how many dosage you consumed you will only be chasing a pointless illusion after all. In fact I am here to offer you another sweet, sweet dose. You are aiming for you commander yes? I had a bit of information fir you to give to him. Play it well and you will rise then maybe I will help cure your addiction. All I want is a little favor in the future."
...
That night past in a flashed and Rem ticked of the first in the long, long list.
"So you met that bastard." Cy said. "Did you maimed him? Please told me you maimed him?"
"You two are too emotional," Melodina said flipping over a book about dragon and took down some note. "The thing he did to uncle Giorno is unforgivable but losing your cool in the heat of such cruelty is simply un-befitting."
"And you let it past?" Lux agrily yelled back. "I remember you and Rem stopping two of us when he kicked that old man in the face. I simply going to stop the kick not hit him back."
"And give away the fact that we are on to him," Melodina said calmly. "Getting Anger into your head is unacceptable in decision making. You had a good heart Luxina Latoria. But for me, the time I spent building up my anger should be invested in anything worth more than a dead man."
"Ouch," Cy winced. "Did you just say you are going to kill him?"
"I never said I will dirty my hand." Melodina replied. "I just state he is walking corpse living on time he borrow from me."
That was one hell of a phrase...anyone had a notepad.
"Mel," I looked at her. "If you want to lead, you need to pretend you care. Even scum worth something."
"Oh so what is Tyrell Darius's worth in your all-seeing eyes." Melodina mused.
"Nothing more than a pity." I replied back. "The same pity you had to give a cat because, no matter how much it try, it would never fly in the sky like a bird."
"Owwwwwww," Cy clenched her fist in satisfaction. "You need to give that one a medal."
"Even compare to the elf, you are ridiculously over the top," Lux said. "And I grew up listening to classical poetry as lullaby."
"So what would he do with the fact that there are a dragon under the Town he was mining ore from." Cy said. "I am new at conspiracy stuff and I doubt he will just keel over and stop production Rem,"
"No he won't," I said. "He had a deadline and politic to play. These guys cannot afraid to display weakness and Emma had a reputation to keep. Given that they already promised several shipment of Dragonic Obsidian to a pre-buyer, stopping the mining is unlikely. So that left 3 options 1) they slow down the mining and get an accurate reading on what they are dealing with and prepare countermeasure 2) ignored me and proceeded as normal and 3) which would be a total disaster for us--they speed up the mining."
"Why would they speed up?!" Cy said. "We just warn them about an impending dragon!"
"Yes, that options would be impossible if Tyrell Darius is not a pitiful bastard who would totally tricked his boss into speeding up the process and threw that guy, along with the town, to the dragon when it went lose for a possible shot at a promotion." I explained passionlessly. "But he is not that desperate yet. No, when you are predicting someone endgame, it is not his emotion nor his personality that told the most, but his goal. In this case, his goal is ambition."
Scathach marched over the table that very moment and announced the result.
"They didn't gave any official statement and the time table remain unaltered." Scathach said. "However, I noticed several specially train investigators coming to check the mining site."
"Eh, why didn't they stopped it?" Cy said.
Lux walked toward the door.
"Guys I wanted to spent sometime alone do you mind if I skip hearing this part?"
"It fine." I replied to Lux. "I will brief you later."
Lux leaved through the door
"Now that you mention it..." Melodina picked a stone from the table. "I need to go outside and get something."
She left before I could say another word.
"So those two just off and left us," Cy huffed. "But, Rem, why wouldn't Tyrell fully stop the dig."
Ebony chose that moment to enter the room and answered that question.
"Oh he planned to shove his superior down to hell by blaming the poor sod on the dragon's attack," Ebony sighed nostalgically. "I did the same thing when I was starting out. You basically set your superior up for a screw up and then claimed the credit for solving the problem. The goal is to impress your boss's boss and hope your current boss didn't catch on."
"Yes," I said. "Tyrell, was a total slime-ball. He is like every evil...predictable and self-defeating. He will chose the options that benefit no one but himself. He wouldn't offer his neck and say thing his boss didn't like. He will let another guy do it. And this is how he will solve the problem. Hide under the wall and let his boss took the fall. Given that he is ruthless enough he might shove him down that metaphorical career's black-hole."
"So he will sat their and let all the people die!!" Cy yelled. "That was seriously mess up."
"Is it," Ebony said. "No one in this town worth anything to him? I don't know whether you are naive or stupid but thinking that someone would care for other well-being will get you kill girl."
Here we go again. Seriously, Ebony really had a death wish. Hell, at this point I believe the entire mindset of the Demonic Continent was on Satholia's shit list. Good thing she couldn't come to punch the jerkassery out of them like she did on Olympus...guess that why she need us to do her job.
Starting with right now.
"Great job Ebony," I said squeezing as many drop as sarcasm into my voice as much as I can. "Keep teaching your daughter like that and she will make a great queen. That right! A Queen who judge the people by their usefulness for her own cause must be a great one! Your husband must be cheering in your grave right now. You gotta admit its pretty edgy sentence right there. I have no doubt an Edgelord will make a great and smart leader. It not like your country are a decade away from blowing itself up. You have a ton of time!"
I gave her a sarcastic clapping in my best sarcastic post.
"You know..." Ebony argued but like all cynic she never really had motivation to win clean.
"I know yout think it is true," I said to Ebony, all emotion gone from my voice. "Which is why It will be so satisfying to destroy that very ideal right in front of your sulky misanthropic nation. You are not in a world of a tragic self-destroying mad genius which such a low self-acceptance he would turn himself into a pickle and crawled through a seewer rather than accept the truth. As long as I am here, I decided how to run my world. Now can anyone told me where is the bloody place they mined the ore."
"Right inside the Town," Scathach said. "They persuade most of the business to move from the Northwest section of the Town and dug the trench out toward wall with spells and machineries."
"What about the noise and the pollution?" Cy said looking at the map.
"Millian and the Frontier Town was not protect by any agreement with Emmma Enterprise," Ebony said flatly. "They could do whatever they wanted with zero repercussion. Emma was a company with power rivaled a small country. There are no one to stop them. They did pay compensation money thought but if you don't like the deal they will run you out of business."
"God," She looked at the map. "I know it is bad but not this bad."
"Hey what did the Northwest section used to be," I said.
"The slum," Ebony said. "By burning it down the town economy will be the least affected and this act dropped the crime rate. All in all, it pretty beneficial for the town and smooth over the operation. Although, I don't agree with the fact they evicted the Northwest community out of the town by force."
"Let me guess, the slum resist." I said.
"Yes," Ebony said. "And most of them are promptly put down into force labor. Nobody spoke up for them of course."
I summoned a sword from [Arrival of the Dream] and plunged it on the map, impaling the table.
"Well, great job Frontier Town," I said. "You screw so much it finally my turn for a counter attack. Normally, I would only kill a dragon, but this time, I will make all of them bleed."
"You ruin my table," Ebony said thinly but...
"YEAH, WE WILL GET EM!!!!!" said Cy.
"Ebony, seriously buddy," Scathach looked at the sky as if expecting a lightning from a certian all-power goddess to smite this town. "You should speak up when you had a chance because a certian livid goddess just sic her attack dogs at you folks."
Nobody care about that bloody table.
