Chapter 5 - Can't Quit? (5)

Hey all, bored High God Andy up in hell... I mean heaven calling in to report!

Turin would take the first shift, for whatever reason he was oddly eager. Kai next, I would be third and Crus would be fourth. Before heading back I took a quick tour through the portals to get used to which ones led where. I stuck my head into the portals that supposedly led to the High Devils but no one was there.

Afterwards I quickly returned to my own universe and lounged on my throne. I brought up my footrest, summoned some popcorn and turned my attention to the neglected Triad. In the short hour or so I was gone, the Triad seem to have finished with their village of huts. Were huts easy enough to make in a couple of hours? Seems like it. I'd encourage them to fight, but I'm still incapable enough to communicate with them. I guess they'll have to figure out cultivating on their own? As for intaking blood for their own improvement... They have yet to discover fire, so it'll be fine. Watching them hunt is actually very boring. The only interesting moment would be when a Triad hunting group successfully hunt something...

And like so, years come and go. The firstborn Triads have all died and the new generation steps up. I've gone patrolling countless times. And I've become bored out of my mind... Because somehow, without even doing anything, 8 Sworn Gods popped into existence. I'm not even kidding, one day I finished my patrol and there they were. Each one conveniently next to a galaxy. Except for the one of them, he popped up next to my throne.

Each Sworn God is tied to a different Galaxy. I've taken to calling them Human God, Demon God, Abomination God, Spectre God, Slime God, Abandoned God and Patrolling God. Obviously lousy naming, but who cares? Each Sworn God was named after the particular universe a species originated from. It also helps that the Sworn Gods physical appearance takes after their charges. The Abandoned God came from the universe I had no use for, and the Sworn God who popped up next to my throne? He's the Patrolling God, valiantly taking my place for patrolling the four universes.

And with that addition, my life became more and more about not doing anything. The Sworn Gods were actually capable of doing work. They could, get this, communicate with the mortals without blowing up their heads. Completely unfair if you ask me. But, because they could somehow communicate, I could transfer ideas indirectly to the Triad finally.

This means that my ideas for the cultivation of my universe could finally be spread.

The First Layer, consisting of the mortals, which everyone still is. The easiest way out of this layer is by consuming fresh blood of animals, subsequently absorbing the DNA until one hits the limit for the Second Layer.

The Second Layer begins the moment the body can no longer contain any more DNA information to improve themselves. At this point, their body is developed enough to take in energy. By energy, I mean it vaguely. Mostly because I created physical channels in the bodies of the Triad, by making this physical channel that makes a loop around their body starting at the brain and ending at the brain, I can ensure that the brain is the main point of where that energy is focused, and enhanced the most. Why have I been vague about what I meant by energy? Why, because I have no idea what mana is. Therefor, I made it possible to absorb "any" type of energy, so long as the body was physically strong enough to contain it. For example, the radiation the sun gives off. Or the heat that the sun gives off. After reaching a threshold based on the energy one chose to absorb for that layer, the body can be further strengthen by intaking more fresh blood to reach the Third Layer.

By this point at the cultivation stage. The body should be quite powerful. And the third layer involves weaving the energy that the cultivator chose in the Second Layer with their physical body. By doing so, they incorporate different properties into their own body. For example, going with the heat of the sun again. After reaching the peak of the Third Layer, the body of the cultivator would emit massive amounts of heat, why? Because their body is now imitating the heat of the sun. After the cultivator succeeds in successfully making their body an imitation of the energy they first took in during the Second Layer, they move on to the Fourth Layer.

At the Fourth Layer, the cultivator would then refocus back onto their brains. As that is the core of their whole body. While some might say that the core of humans is the heart or the so called "dantian", have you actually physically seen one? Neither have I, so how would I incorporate that into my creation? And moving on to why I didn't choose the heart, do you really think the heart is capable of anything really? Does the heart influence your decisions? No, it only keeps you alive. And if any of you tries to say that the heart has to do with emotions. You seriously need to go back to school, and study the human anatomy before coming back. By enhancing the brain, cultivators would be able to make decisions at a faster pace, and see the far reaching effects of their actions.

How do they do this? Simple. Remember how the Third Layer was to make their body an imitation of the energy they absorbed in the Second Layer by weaving it through the very fabric of their own existence? Well now they do this with their brain. Enhancing it to an even larger degree than in the Third Layer. Doing this would allow them to have greater control of the energy they chose in the Second Layer. And at this point most cultivators would probably be capable of telekinesis at the peak of the Fourth Layer. After reaching the peak, the cultivator would then go back to consume more DNA to further their physical strength in order to reach the Fifth Layer.

By the Fifth Layer, the cultivator is able to choose a new source of energy, much like the Second Layer. And to reach the Sixth Layer, more blood is needed.

The Sixth Layer is like the Third Layer. And the Seventh Layer is like the Fourth Layer. And because I wanted to keep things in Ten Layers, the Eight Layer is a combination of Layers two through four. The Ninth Layer would have involved the cultivator containing a total of nine different energy sources. And by the Tenth Layer the cultivator would have one hundred different sources. Of course, at this point, they could continue including more energy sources, but the amount of blood needed would be astronomical. You would probably have to drive entire planets worth of species to extinction in order to incorporate every new energy source, with the number of planets increasing each time.

By the time the cultivator reaches the Tenth Layer, their body would be strong enough to supposedly live forever. Which I think marks the actual line between Mortals and Gods. The moment the cultivator reaches the Tenth Layer I would gladly accept them in my Pantheon of Gods. Of which there are currently only eight Sworn Gods and one High God. Myself.

"My Lord, I have news to report" a voice interrupts. Snapping out of my reverie, I look up and focus my attention on the Patrolling God.

"News?"

"Yes, just now there was a small breach in the boundary. Very small, but something slipped through. I'm not sure what it is, but I have come here to show it to you, My Lord", the Patrolling God says as he bows his head, while extending both hands forward, palm facing up. In his palm I can see a trembling translucent form. Different from the Spectres that already exist, the shape is more... Humanoid.

"It looks human", I say, a small tinge of surprise dotting my voice.

"Indeed, it does, but I am unsure of how it entered this universe" is the response, as he bows deeper.

"No matter", I say, waving my hand and bringing the translucent being before me, "it is weak. You may leave." The Patrolling God's bow goes below 90 degrees as he retreats from my throne.

I look down back at my hand and voice booming with displeasure say "Intruder, who might you be?" A frown clearly visible on my face.

Jimmy's day was going quite well. The sky was blue, free of even a speck of clouds. That's why when a bolt of lightning came out of nowhere, striking very close to Jimmy, he almost leapt out of his skin. For a moment he stared, wondering where the lightning came from before he felt the most pain he had ever felt before blacking out. His last thought being "What did I do to deserve being struck by lightning?"

The next moment his eyes opened, everything around him was black. And this darkness struck Jimmy with terror, causing him to strike out in fear, clawing madly in vain attempts to leave this darkness. And somehow, it worked, like punching out of an egg shell, he slipped out and saw a massive tree planted in the land with four giant masses of light surrounding it. The next thing he noticed was a very large human who was coming closer.

It wasn't until a few minutes later that Jimmy realized that what was coming wasn't human, but something else entirely. How did he know? Because Jimmy knew he was six feet tall, quite tall for a male. But at six feet tall he was only the size of a fingernail on its hand. Panicking, Jimmy cried out in fear and tried to back out, back into the hole he had made, but when he looked back, the hole was gone. Crying out how unfair it was, he was quickly swept up, and before he knew it. He was presented to a being even larger. Completely dwarfing the existence of his captor, the slightest gaze cause his captor to shiver in fear, as if he could be blotted out of existence with a breath. Which probably could happen, considering the gargantuan size of it. Him, whatever this being was.

Against his will, Jimmy floated off of his captors hands towards the gargantuan man.

"Intruder, who might you be?" the gargantuan man said.

Averting his eyes, Jimmy could tell by the tone of his voice that he was clearly displeased.

"I'm sorry! I have no idea how I got here, I saw a bolt of lightning, and then I died! The next thing I knew it was dark all around and I had to struggle out and before I knew it I was here, and got captured! I really meant no harm sir, please don't kill me!" said Jimmy, eyes red with tears and a quivering lip. Jimmy valued his life to the highest degree, it was to the point if someone asked if he should kill ten babies and keep his life or kill himself he would choose to kill ten babies without even hesitating.

A long moment of silence passed, and slowly Jimmy looked up. The face of the man was pursed thoughtfully. Deep in thought. Hope began to rise to Jimmy's face as he hoped to be spared.

"I understand that you did not intrude on purpose" the man said as his voice boomed, "therefore, I give you the change to redeem yourself." The man's eyes flickered for a moment before a stream of light left and entered Jimmy's body. It was at this point that Jimmy howled in pain, feeling as if his head was being torn apart, but then it abruptly ended.

Shivering in fear, Jimmy knelt, and asked, "What is it that I must do to redeem myself?"

"Very simple, I will reincarnate you. I task you with spreading the cultivation method I imparted to you to every other being belonging to the Triad that you encounter. Fail to successfully spread this method within your lifetime means I will crush your soul"

Jimmy shivered in fear, what he was saying was likely very possible. "I comply"

"Very good", the man rumbled out, and with that, the man flashed to one of the starry balls of light. The man continued to speak, "I bring you to the main planet of the Triad, a combination of different types of humans".

As they neared, Jimmy was able to see those Triads, an abominable combination of a human and a centipede, Jimmy shivered in fear.

"Aren't they great?" the man said, smiling. Jimmy was unable to tell if it was out of kindness or some other factor, but nodded hesitantly. But at that moment, Jimmy's eyes widened in fear, the size of this planet... Was only about the size of the eye of this man.

"There it is, I have found your new host."

Without any further ado, Jimmy shot through the skies and landed in the fetus of a pregnant woman. His soul could be vaguely seen melting into the body of the baby. And once again, Jimmy closed his eyes.

I nodded satisfied. By making Jimmy spread the knowledge, it's less likely that knowledge regarding cultivation will be held only by those in high positions. After all, at this point only certain individual were actually capable of receiving notice from the Sworn Gods. Simply because I made it his duty to spread it, I put his life in danger, giving him an incentive not to keep this knowledge to himself. I could make the Sworn Gods threaten their charges, to spread the knowledge, but doing it this way will be more interesting.

However, there are a few key points to pay attention to. The first thing he experienced is darkness, while I only saw light. And the second point. He wasn't speaking any language from Earth.
